Generally, I'm not trying to touch the rope. But at the same time, I'm also trying to slip as close as I can instead of as wide as I can (which is more skillful and more practical in a fight), and then there are moments where I purposely slip right through the rope in which contact is made. The ultimate goal is developing functional slipping technique.
Franco Lopez Happy for you, keep looking and learning. Some of the best trainer/fighter pairings in history have been the fighter's father who had previously no boxing experience.
I a BIG boxing fan.Ive gotten so old and stiff and health problems,I wish Id gotten into it when I was younger.Though i still would like to learn for the excersise and self defense.Great lesson !
Great videos man, I spent my whole night watching them all due to lack of sleep. I've been sparring with a couple of my friends (one being a golden glover) and ever since then I got this sort of rush from boxing. I've been doing drills and what not, thanks so much. Got yourself a new subscriber.
Thanks for this awesome evasion drill. I find this paired with the maize bag and double end bag are really good exercises for reflex/ body movement. I do a few jumps with my jump rope and then use it to slip under now since I've watched this and enjoying the heck out of it!
hey i dont box yet but i want to start up so im starting to get in shape now running jump rope push ups sit ups etc i think all your vids are great keep it up
Thank you so much this video is perfect I did some boxing and some Thai boxing when I was younger and now I'm trying to teach my son, these drills really help
Yo, I was doing this exact same thing in my Shotokan Karate class. It really helps improve body movement.(I suck a bit though, since it is still kind of a new practice)
Awesome I have been looking for something to help me get Better at ducking in and out of punches this will be perfect. I also saw some use a rubber ball swinging from the ceiling while they slipped passed it they threw simple combos. Thanks
I don't understand why you're judging my punching technique in a video about using the slip rope. But you're welcome to post up your own boxing videos to show us all what "good techniques" are supposed to look like.
Same thing with distance, watch Mayweather Jr., you want to get as close to it as possible without touching and barely slip by it when rolling. Watch Mayweather’s pull counter and watch how close the punch gets to landing on him but he knows the distance so well that he makes them miss just by an inch and then counters making them pay.
Hey man, great video their..explained very clearly.. But I got one problem..would appreciate if you helped me out Well, I do practice this drill it works good for me, my technique is right but I'm slow at this, my weaves are kinda slow...nope I'm not fat What would you recommend on getting my weaves faster? Thnx
Great tips! Until now I had just slip and put a single punch using the rope. I'm going to start doing the shadow boxing with it! =) Now, the rope usually stay in my chin level. It's too high?
I am unable to understand leg position. Are you moving your legs while rolling each side or rolling from same instance and move then 1 step after completing rolling of both sides?
Correct me of im wrong, so basicly, the rope represets the aponent arm or punches and as a slip training to confused your aponent as you move close to your enemy and land a hit by the reach of your arm ?????

Yeah I think it's helping me move better and I'm more aware while I'm boxing I'm no expert just train for fun at home
No, we had a guy who used to build rings for Everlast come and do a custom one for us.
Probably one of my fav workouts on the gym
you sir, are great. thank you for all your effort and time
Great tutorial on the slip rope. Trying to supplement my Judo with boxing. I love the techniques and the training. Thanks.

Ha, they recognize skills!
@@expertboxing any more on that
JOHNNYYYYYY, bro you killed that slip rope.
I like your style. You are dangerous.
Your head movement is ace!
DAMN, that was GREAT.
awesome technique and valuable training advice. I have actually improved my slipping skills. Thanks for the video bro.
I have got extremely good with slipping also a lot with my countering including footwork.
Go to the local hardware store and find a clothesline or anything similar. Or you can do what I do and use a handwrap.
It takes time to get this smoothly. You need to use less movement, not more movement.
Great instruction.thanks.
Nice tips, Thanks! Keep up the good work!
Yo, I was doing this exact same thing in my Shotokan Karate class. It really helps improve body movement.(I suck a bit though, since it is still kind of a new practice)

I've already done a couple videos on the peek-a-boo stance. Check them out!

Thanks man, great tips
Cool idea ( slip rope training with opponent.).
Yeah, that's one of my favorite partner exercises. Also a good way to fit more people into the gym.
Well it is! Haha, keep training and all that becomes natural.
Great stuff here!
That was awesome!
Great stuff!
Great video. Would love to see the quadrants slip rope you were talking about
You can look up pros on the slip rope. You'll see them do it.
Keep doing it and do it slowly with rhythm, rather than trying to muscle your way through it as fast as you can.
thanks bro

Good idea m8, will use it ;)
Looks cool, wish I had one.
Hi, that would be very helpful. Please email me personally and we can get that sorted out. Thank you for the help!
Hey man, great video their..explained very clearly..

thanks man
Looks very good
You know expertboxing I never seen you fight before.
I never seen you fight, either. But if you search my channel, you might find some short videos. ;)
It's a custom ring but I didn't do it myself.
did it make you a better fighter?
You make it look so easy haha
Great tips! Until now I had just slip and put a single punch using the rope. I'm going to start doing the shadow boxing with it! =)
Now, the rope usually stay in my chin level. It's too high?
If you're serious, get to a gym and see how far you can go. It's a lot of fun. My friends would consider me an honorary flip.
Hey, i got a question. Can you maybee make a Video about the peek-a-boo style? Like mike tyson or so. Rhis would be awesome :-)
You use a wrap hand to made the rope ??
Valentin LEGRAND Yeaup!
Valentin LEGRAND it works. All you need is something to go under.
Where do u buy the slip lines??
DKombet27 have you found somewhere you buy? I can’t find them anywhere.
Thks bruh
What up johnny I use a slip rope while working my reflex bag the rope sits just above the bag what do you think about that
I am unable to understand leg position. Are you moving your legs while rolling each side or rolling from same instance and move then 1 step after completing rolling of both sides?
What about putting 2 slip ropes making 4 squares? Or is it better just the one rope?
Chin level is fine to me.
nice
Where can I buy a slip rope?
Where can I get a rope like that? Can I just go Mexican and use any rope or is that a gear rope? Gracias bro
Okay. Are you self-taught or have you trained with experts?
I posted shitty comments to ya a while back... my bad man. Youre an awesome teacher and could easily murder me lol thanx for posting
Do you lift weights too? I am starting boxing but scared I will lose all the muscle I have built bodybuilding but you have a good physique.
He definitely lifts weights I would just throw in some days of boxing practice
Astral Goblin people who do MMA have good physique because hitting the bag and doing DUT(daily ultimate training) keeps them in shape.
Lefty 1991 hi jonny
What's your height and weight?
Correct me of im wrong, so basicly, the rope represets the aponent arm or punches and as a slip training to confused your aponent as you move close to your enemy and land a hit by the reach of your arm ?????
that’s pretty much it
did you build your ring?
There all birds @expertboxing where do u get them slip lines tho?
I used hand wraps.
the way to stay out of the punches line!
Are you fighting as pro? How many fights did you do?
can i use a washing line while my y fronts are hanging off it?
If you want
You should watch Pernell Whitaker and James Toney before you compare MMA guys to boxers.
