    Ah Jeez, I didn't mind the transition around 5:15 ! Do I listen to music so that I can be bored? No. I listen to be surprised! Of Course!
    I suppose different strokes for different folks!
    A lot of "producers" are trying to produce "product" and others are trying to produce ART. Different aims, for different audiences.

      I love transitions like this, I have heard it in professional recordings and remixes so it definitely seems more like a personal preference not to like this. I think once a song sounds perfect or near perfect to you then that's better than striving for a perfect that was set by someone else, unless you have been contracted to make a very certain sound then you can make the song the way you feel.

      There's producing for listeners vs. producing for producers. Just like there's playing guitar for listeners vs. playing guitar to impress other guitar nerds. The average person doesn't care about these subtleties.

  • @Beatsbasteln
    @Beatsbasteln หลายเดือนก่อน +15

    i think the fact that people actually pay a monthly subscription to get things like a hihat loop from splice is the most disappointing thing in the video. i'm ok with not every mixing decision being perfect when listening to music, but music just being a combination of samples that you could have even made yourself easily.. i just don't see the point. i mean it's bad enough that people take bass and lead sounds from those platforms and basically disregard the potential to bring their own style into the most important part of the song, but hihats aren't even hard to make. you could literally fart into a microphone, slap heavy wavefold distortion at it and put an envelope on the resulting sound and you'd have a proper hihat

    • @spyder2099
      @spyder2099 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nothing wrong with using a hihat loop from splice if you know how to mix it properly and/or manipulate it into your own thing. The shit that really grinds my gears these days is peeps releasing full blown AI-gen tracks for cash monies $$$$.

    • @Jimbo386000
      @Jimbo386000 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Honestly using loop fodder for your percussion is a nice way to fatten it up. It's actually time consuming to build a real thick percussion part from scratch (depending on your genre is how thick you want it). Use a few loops and a few original parts why not.

    • @SanDfckt
      @SanDfckt 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Jimbo386000this yes. Or - reference a perc loop u like - and rebuild it with some variation / diff sounds - in ableton drumsynth fe or machine - thats pretty straight fwd.

    • @Jimbo386000
      @Jimbo386000 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @SanDfckt that works too. Usually what I do is I make a bunch of loops. And I reuse them, and a lot of times I'll chop them up or in some way resample them unless they're just perfectly what I'm looking for in a song. But I'll also use those along with loops from packs or splice.

  • @drrodopszin

    For me the "secret ingredient" in abrupt changes is missing down beat ending. A drummer would never stop the groove at the eighth beat. They stop it on the first beat of the next part even if it is a chill part. Unfinished grooves just hang in the air for me. This might also mean you have edit your hi hat loop to get the right sound at this extra hit.

    i gotta be honest.
    while some of your tips are definitely worth doing, some of them can be artistic preference.
    why do i need to put the vocals first? i may be loving my good M1 house piano with the M1 organ bass. and want ot focus on that. making the vocals a bit more in the background.
    i would say thats a super valid thing to do if you as an artist want to sound like that. i wouldnt say that makes you amateur

    • @drrodopszin
      @drrodopszin หลายเดือนก่อน

      But then you have to do many other things as well. Maybe remove the lyrics, or have very simple and audible words. Move the voice to sides and put shit ton of reverb on them. Having two main actors fight for the same space is the amateur.

    • @Ellipse_is
      @Ellipse_is หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the question would be: what KIND of vocals are they? If it is a hook with words that would pull attention, it only makes sense to give it the attention it deserves. If they are vowels and adlibs, then by all means I think they can become a background instrument

    • @LutherBaker
      @LutherBaker หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounding amateur does NOT generally stem from one's "intention" to focus on a particular line or instrument. Sounding amateur comes from the "technique" you are using to create that emphasis. In general, you can't simply turn parts up or down and call it a day.

    • @mutzbunny
      @mutzbunny หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LutherBaker yes you can, its called mixing.

Why should one listen to a bad singer who only can be rescued by heavy autotune? Or even pay for it?
