I really like the demo at the beginning and the review after. One thing I just noticed after watching this a bunch of times (that I didn't pick upon earlier) was that the osc levels are cranked all the way up. If you have the osc levels about halfway (6 or less) they have more of warmer sound. From 6 to 12 it will add an amount of overdrive to the osc sound. So for the people complaining that it doesn't sound like a "real" Moog, they should try it with the osc level on 5 or 6 when they demo it for themselves. Also you don't need to use the Multidrive if you don't like the post-filter overdriven type of sound. I happen to like having those options to change the sound when I want to.
Rob Mitchell Agreed. The Sub Phatty is truly a marvelous synth and capable of way more than people give it credit for. The Minibrute/Minibrute 2 falls into a similar trap unfortunately.

I keep waffling between this and a Mopho x4. Two totally different beasts, both analog and knobby. I already have a Slim Phatty which is... ok (the interface has more buttons than knobs), but this is far knobbier and seems friendlier to real-time tweaking and inspiration. The two octave keyboard is a bummer, though. Also, not sure if what my ears are really telling me is to just sell all this stuff and drop the huge coin on a voyager.
I believe the Sub 37 is more to the MiniMoog and even Little/Slim Phatty. The SubPhatty has a pretty unique sound for moog. But it may be a sound you prefer. There is no wrong way to enjoy a moog : ). Next to zero warmup time with the SubPhatty which is convenient.

AXLTrip total fool. how different do stratocasters or les pauls sound from one another? not at all really. it's up to an artist or performer to distinguish themselves using the instrument and making art, not just turning it on and letting it run like so many do. as for instrument quality, I would much rather be here and now than in the past. and modern vst instruments sound freakin fantastic by the way. what is wrong with you?
