Why? Why are you so incredibly talented Mr. Gurney, I am always amazed when I watch your videos. Sorry, my English is not very good, greetings from Colombia.
Another fantastic video! I love how every thing you do is given such care and attention to detail. Even the calligraphy on the label to post the work. Thanks for sharing. joe
I'm really digging these videos! And thank you so much for your helpful books on color and light and imaginative realism.. Those books are filled with gold. Keep it up!
Thank you so SO much for sharing your process and being incredibly inspirational! I also love that you have your little bird-buddy ever at your side :)
Mr. Gurney, I wonder whether your great collection of maquettes could in some way be made available to the public online? You could have somebody photograph them under varying conditions and sell the images digitally, not unlike Proko sells those model photographs.
3:33 What are you used? What is that liquid, how I understand that clear soil, can you write how it called, I'm trying find that thing in our shops, or TH-cam, and meet the same problem as with your books. That no in sale, or no one know about it. (From Ural Russia, but that's not meter)
Seeing how good people can paint when they take their time make me want to paint as well, and if I do,I have an idea about dinosaurs: An A to Z type thing, with one dinosaur per letter (Yutyrannus would 100% be Y).
+Heidi Kuang I guess that he is taking care not to be affected himself too much by these fumes, his studio appears to be pretty big, with tall windows which help for a quick air circulation when opened..
+Duvdev Yes, what an amazing artist, and his books cannot be praised too much. I have recently received "Imaginative Realism" as well as "Light and Color" - still processing the incredible mass of precious informations, ideas, concepts and the overall inspiration in them
Awesome! Nice work James :) I would love to talk to you about some integration opportunities. I sent you an e-mail with some more information but please feel free to reach out to me at anytime! -Winnie
I know you wanna make money but can you put the full length videos on youtube I really wanna learn got to draw and shade like that. especially with dinosaurs
+Terreon LeGrande You should by his book" Light and Color", that´s the very thing you are asking for. Invaluable information in there. I have received this book recently and I will never draw the same way again. So much insights and usefull information in there. Best of luck!

I just told my daughter that there's a dinosaur named after Gurney.
She replied "... Barney?"
We laughed so much.
Thanks James for the good vibes.
The music used is from SCP,: Containment Breach I think it is called 'blue feather'.

Just wow.
Is your budgie not affected at all by the fumes of the oil paint, thinners, turpentine, etc?
+Heidi Kuang I guess that he is taking care not to be affected himself too much by these fumes, his studio appears to be pretty big, with tall windows which help for a quick air circulation when opened..

That's acrylic matte medium.
Not only does he paint dinosaurs, he has one(that bird he has)
Ну сделайте пожалуйста перевод!!!интересно же !!!

I use workable fixative and then matte medium on illustration board. Then the oil.
dinotopia should be brought back into cineme the idea of it is good enough

I saw one of those stamps on instagram (and loved it) but I thought it was new

Was this painted in oils?
Yes, oils on illustration board.

Elizabeth Wolfe yes he did and he even wrote a book about it called "imaginative realism: how to paint what doesn't exist"
He actually wrote and drew the whole thing xD
+Duvdev Yes, what an amazing artist, and his books cannot be praised too much. I have recently received "Imaginative Realism" as well as "Light and Color" - still processing the incredible mass of precious informations, ideas, concepts and the overall inspiration in them
Mr Boris.
Jeez, do you have the best job in the world or what? But if you ever think of changing careers "The Modern Echidna" would be a great name for a band.
Nonostante le denunce dinotopia va avanti.
Awesome! Nice work James :) I would love to talk to you about some integration opportunities. I sent you an e-mail with some more information but please feel free to reach out to me at anytime!
