This movie is beyond saccharine and I love every minute of it. I love the old Hollywood character actors and this one has several great ones. They give 100% and rise above the material in every way.

We'll never have a crop of actors, especially the those "triple threats" who could dance, act, and sing, like those who came from the Golden Age of Hollywood. And as for these 4 character actors, well, it's just wonderful to see Hollywood hadn't put them out to pasture once they got over age 50. Harry Carey (about 62), C. Aubrey Smith (about 77), Charles Winninger (the "baby" at about age 56), Maria Ouspenskay (about 64). Try finding films for any actor over the age of 50 or 60 today, especially for women. And just watch them prancing and dancing around with those kids. What fun!

I found this film here a few years ago, and loved it. I tell my friends about it. A very heartwarming Christmas movie. Gets you into a good mood. But to those who need the closed captioning, beware. The do not display them every time they talk. And sometimes they put the wrong words in. I tried to find one within the captions but failed. Doesn't matter to me, the film is great. Thank you.

Tom and Jerry cocktails ARE nice and cozy on a cold night. It's a very old drink going back to the mid 1800's which is kind of an eggnog variant made with brandy and run and served hot.

This unknown (at least to me) property starts out as a perfectly acceptable, pleasant holiday option if you've already watched It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th Street, Die Hard and at least three versions of A Christmas Carol. The three old guys are very enjoyable company, and the scene where they give the deposed Russian countess the PERFECT gift made me a little verklempt. I even stuck with it through the unexpected supernatural turn and hung in there despite Richard Carlson's highly questionable accent. (And did every third early 1940s RKO movie have to involve the radio business?) BUT THEN the movie gets unforgivably misogynistic, throws in an almost out of nowhere deux ex machina and, worst of all, dishonestly breaks its own rules in order to provide some last-minute phony uplift. In short, the moviemakers fix you a nice mug of hot cocoa and then add a shot of castor oil to it. Make that TWO shots! 4/10.
