  • Blackened flounder is one of my favorite meals.
Not only is it delicious, but it's also easy to cook, easy to clean when you're done, and only takes about ten minutes from start to finish.
In this video, I'll take you step by step through how to blacken flounder, and show you:
    - Everything you need to make blackened flounder
    - How to cook it to perfection
    - My favorite blackening seasoning
    - The one thing you DON'T want to do when blackening flounder
    - And more
These tips are great for blackening flounder, but can also be used to blacken other species of fish, like the snapper I made in this video, too.
Have any questions about blackening fish?
    Or have any other suggestions?

Use avocado oil or clarified butter. Also, deglaze your pan with white wine between batches.

You got hosed on the pan and extra virgin olive have a low smoke point around 375. People use a higher smoke point oil

Instead of olive oil use unsalted butter. The seasoning you use is perfect. Butter has so much more flavor. You are cooking the fish so fast that you dont have to worry about the burn point of the butter. Using unsalted butter also makes a blue flame in the skillet and will give the fish an even blackening.Your cook looked awesome but just try the butter. I am from Louisiana where it started with chef Paul started blackining and developed the seasoning you and I use. Keep up the great videos.

I would use an oil with a higher smoke point like avocado oil. It’s more expensive but is better for high temp cooking. Butter will also easily burn.

Fish looks great but what I’m most impressed with in this video is your grass.

Excellent! I have a couple of leftover small filets of flounder from previous Flounder Francaise and looking for something different. I will do this today. Prob serve with canned baked beans & crushed pineapple and roasted brussels sprouts or steamed green beans.

Once the edges turn white they're ready to flip. No need for a timer unless you have add or something lol. I bet this plate was delicious

Great video but I always use high smoke point oil. Avocado oil works best.
