The firmware was updated recently and the code for the GUI seems a lot better. When I first tried to use it everything felt unfinished so I've been waiting for it all to get a lot better before trusting a plane to it! :D
I look forward to your video on this receiver and Q X7. I have Open Tx version 2.2 on my TX, but when I bind them, the servos move up to some 10 mm of top stick travel and then move no more.
Thanks for all the high quality tutorials, have learnt so much from them. See the S6R has got an updated GUI- where you can choose to use Aux1 and Aux2 instead of Ail2 and Ele2 option. There is a "Convenient Mode" check box- but no amount for searching have I found what this does. Looking forward to a Quick Tip on the updated GUI, plus some follow up videos on the S6R. thanks
+Martin Littlewood yap, that was all added in the latest beta firmware. Still not released it formally though.. no point in making a video on something that obviously isn't considered finished. I'm very disappointed with this whole thing and think that FrSky have dropped the ball here..
:-) agreed - Frsky seem to busy producing so many new goodies to play with, these days. By the way this GUI is in the latest version 170914, a full release, and not in the frisky beta folder on their download page. Got on to make a neater install than using the Eagletree Gardian

I have my Taranis x9d plus updated to the newest firmware and the X6r updated as well but I can't get them to bind. The light turns green but when I unplug it and plug it back in the light is flashing red. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Great "first look" video, as always. For your in-depth video it's worth looking at Mike Blandford's alternative config tool as well. Unlike the FrSky version it allows you to turn stabilisation off on individual channels. I turned it off on Ail2 so that I can use that channel for flaps. More details on the RCGroups thread already mentioned.

I manage to bind my Taranis Q X7 to an S6R receiver but the travel I get in the servos is significantly less than with my other FrSky receivers. Motor control is correct (I guess the ESC adapts to whatever the transmitter sends to it, not so the servos). Is there something I can do to solve this or are S6R receivers incompatible with the Q X7? When is your video of these two coming out? Thanks!

You're not following me on Instgram are you? ;) I posted about this very thing yesterday. S6R videos are planned when I figure this out. The instructions are rubbish and this could be one of the most useful little pieces of tech from FrSky if they put some effort into it! :D

I enjoy the simple nature of your videos! I know it might be asking a lot but could you possibly make time to make a video on how to set this up using a Q X7 I am having trouble getting this thing to do any type of stabilization? I don't even know how to upgrade the firmware on the S6R. I can only get the rx to operate as a 6ch rx with no stabilization, kinda defeats the purpose of me getting this rx. I have open tx 2.2 I know you said you were going to be doing a new video once 2.2 was released, is that still the plan.
Got a S6R + config tool last week. Nice to see that you´ll make a series about it. Hope you´ll show if it´s possible to configure it for a Aileron/Elevator plane like the Skyhunter ("nano" in my case). Go on with your channel, you got me into opentx and the taranis.
Are you flying any of the apm stuff anymore? Was digging around your old videos (great!) and wanted to see if all that's stuff is still worth the trouble or there's better all in one packagers now
Rarely, sadly a lot of the time is playing with the latest and greatest stuff to help others use it. The APM is very mature now so I'd go for Pixhawk if I was making a new model..
i have got two of them and had have no success in getting it to work, the only thing i have not done is end points that is the last possible reason i think why mine are not working
Config tool looks ok on PC Red and green lights are ON on the STK Rx blinks RED and Yellow on power up, then blinks red from then on, I can not set it up on the GUI ! goes through the motions but there are no numbers in the Accel Cal. Any ideas ? ;-)

I'm having a hard time setting this up with my optera..what a pain..after so many days and hours finally got it to work but it's all guess work so I don't trust it..one issue I'm having is that it won't upgrade..when on upgrade mode the stick device can't be found where in config mode works fine..another problem is how to set flight mode..The instructions is hard to understand..pls help if you got it figured out..ive never gotten an fc this hard to figure out..
G'day sir I want to know and im sure that a lot of viewers would like to see the same thing if the S6R can be used with a head tracker. I've seen a video that said you couldn't but given the power of taranis im sure there is a way. I want to have all the modes with headtracking on a new project im working on could you please explore this for us?
Using S6R receiver with Taranis Plus (2.1.9 Version). On channel 10 (Mode switch), how do I change PWM values. I am defaulting to knife edge mode, normal mode, stabilize mode. I want to change knife edge mode to auto level mode. I tried changing weights on taranis and it didn't work.
The only thing I can think of is extending the limits on CH10 in the radio. The firmware for the S6R STILL isn't finalized so I'm hanging on making a video. Using OpenTX 2.2 makes things a lot easier.. Best of luck!
Thank you for your swift reply. PWM values are listed on page -7 of Taranis "Outputs". I was able to change the values, and now modes are working correctly. During flight, I discovered a bug (I think its a bug). The elevator controls-Stick works correctly except elevator-trim works in revers of the control-stick. Very strange. Does anyone else had this issue?
Help ! As a beginner I only need stabilizer and auto level on one switch as I am a beginner and don't want the other functions yet , I copied some mixes from another closed S6r forum but am having an issue ... When I select stabilized mode it appears to want to put the model into a knife edge position ( not what I want) switch to center turns of the gyro nicely and switch down switches on auto level nicely. Any ideas as to why when selecting stabilized mode I am getting what appears to be knife edge ? I am using a Qx7 with 2.2 with a S8R in a night walrus ( I'm programming with the radio not a stick) I have configured the rx and completed self check , auto level seems to function well . Something else I am unsure of ... I have the gain assigned to S1pot but I'm not sure it is working as when I move the model in auto level mode I don't notice a difference in reaction speed , is there a way to test this ? Painless360 problem solved thanks to some help in rc groups forum , basically I needed to have Max selected as source not the switch itself , I now have my S8R working nicely on one switch , stabilize mode , off and auto level , perfect for beginners ! I look forward to the final release and you video also , keep up the good work !

It should be very easy as it's configurable via the app. We are hoping to get to this in late December/January for more testing!
Can you please let me know if this receiver will bind with the Taranis Q X7 with telemetry and 3-axis fully functional.
Not sure, should do but we're waiting for the OpenTX2.2 release before doing too many more videos as they will instantly become obsolete..

Sorry no, all I did was in the video. I'd go back to the vendor for support. I will be looking at this again when we (finally) get OpenTX 2.2 out..

You can disable them with some 3rd party software - see the links in some of the other comments..
the program you are looking for is SportSet,(5) the 5 is the newest release, created by Mike Blandford

You could but you’d not use the stabilisation parts of it as the.naza would be doing that. A regular X series Rx would be a better bet..
