  • Abhishekam is an ancient devotional practice. Here we are showing the procedure as taught by Swami Premananda. Anyone can practise it -- all you need is devotion and to learn the steps...
The mantras chanted during this abhishekam to the Divine Mother:
    1. Ganapati pooja mantra & Ganapati astotra:
Ōm Shuklām Baradharam Vishnum Shashivarnam Chaturbhujam
Prasanna Vadanam Dhyāyēt Sarva Vighnōpa Shāntayē
    Shrī Paramēshvara Prītyartham
    Shrī Kumāra Paramēshvara Prītyartham
    Sarva Vighna Nivāranārtham
    Samastasan Mangala Vārtyartham
    Mahat Aishvaryābhi Vriddhyartham
Rāja Tvarē Sarva Karyanu Kulya Siddhyartham
    Vighnēshvara Prasāda Siddhyartham
    Vighnēshvara Shōdasa Nāmārchana Pujam Karishyē
(translation: For the removal of all obstructions, I meditate on the all-pervading Lord who is wearing clothes of white and who is the colour of the moon. He has four arms and a calm, serene face. Let Him destroy all difficulties and give us peace. I bow down to the resplendent and radiant young son of Lord Shiva, the supreme ruler of the universe. Lord Ganēsha is the destroyer of obstacles, granter of prosperity, giver of all that is auspicious. Let the people benefit from the government of the country. We aspire for the blessings of the great Vighnēshvara, remover of every difficulty, by doing this pooja to Him.)
Ōm Sumukhāya Namaha / Ōm Ēkadantāya Namaha / Ōm Kapilāya Namaha / Ōm Gajakarnakāya Namaha / Ōm Lambōdarāya Namaha / Ōm Vikatāya Namaha / Ōm Vighnarājāya Namaha / Ōm Vināyakāya Namaha / Ōm Dhūmrakētavē Namaha / Ōm Ganādhyakshāya Namaha / Ōm Bālachandrāya Namaha / Ōm Gajānanāya Namaha / Ōm Vakratundāya Namaha / Ōm Shūrpakarnāya Namaha / Ōm Hērambāya Namaha / Ōm Skandapūrvajāya Namaha /

    2. Mahā Mrityunjaya Mantra (to Lord Shiva)
Ōm Tryambakam Yajāmahē Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam
    Urvārukamiva Bandhanān Mrityōr Mukshīya Mā’mrtāt
    Hara Ōm Namah Shivāya
(translation: We offer our worship to the three-eyed One who is fragrant and confers well-being. Liberate us from death and let us attain immortality just as the watermelon effortlessly separates from its creeper-stem. The Lord is Ōm - salutations to Lord Shiva!)
    3. Gāyatrī Mantra
    Ōm Bhūr Bhuvah Svaha
    Tat Savitur Varēnyam
    Bhargō Dēvasya Dhīmahi
    Dhiyō Yō Nah Prachōdayāt
(translation: We devote our thoughts to the Supreme Creator of all planes of consciousness. Let us meditate on the most excellent divine light, the source of all, so that He will enlighten us.)
    4. Divine Mother song (Tamil)
Ātālē Engal Abirāma Valliyai, Andam Ellām Pūtālai
Mādulam Pū Niratālai, Puvi Adanga Kātālai
    Ankusha Pāsānkushamum, Karubum Angai
    Sērtālai Mukkanniyai Toluvārkku Ōru Tīngillaiyē
(translation: She is the all-seeing, all-knowing omnipresent Mother of the universe. She is Mother Earth and pervades everything. Her complexion is like the pomegranate flower. She holds the noose, goad, sugar-cane and arrow in each of Her four hands. The three auspicious fruits, banana, mango and jack-fruit are sacred to Her. No negative force can approach those who worship Her with sincerity and devotion.)
