- Nehawu President Mike Shingange is accusing ANC KZN Secretary Bheki Mtolo of being reckless. It follows his recent comments blaming union members for inefficiencies at government institutions.

It’s true especially the nurses they are lazy, disrespectful and uncaring, they need refresher courses on compassion, caring and dealing with the public.
The nurses were not paid for four years how would you be caring if you were in that situation?

It is TRUE that eThekwini municipal workers are lazy. We see them sleeping on the job, unresponsive to complaints, unwilling to assist public. We don't see the need for unions anymore. The time for unions are over. How can unions be "alliance partners" to political parties, when the workers vote for other parties?? Who are they representing? Why are people paying for "labour lawyers", and yet pay "union fee's"? How do companies retrench workers, without even consulting the unions anymore??? It's simple, the unions DON"T represent the workers interest.

Don't blame the union and generalise about the productivity of workers. Productivity is a management problem. Managers do your work, motivitate, train, retrain and if necessary fire incompetent workers.
The minute you fire workers for incompetence, the unions come down on you like a ton of bricks. Inefficiency is protected, stupidity is protected.

But even a murderer is allowed to defend himself through lawyers. Union are there to represent workers whether they deserve to be fired or not. I agree with thomasbisschoff7136 Mtolo is targeting Nehawu members. Instead he should criticise lazy public servants including his comrades serving as ministers, mec’s and in leadership positions in municipalities.

I used to work in Government in South Africa, some people are definitely extremely lazy and disrespectful to customers. There is a culture that your job is safe no matter what.

Did some laid-back low key someone bought spectacles only now and finally eyes opened, they are lazy, being told by there unions to do as they please ,work at snails pace , watching their suppervisors making their work difficult so that service delivery are don't go as it should.

That's true they don't take their job seriously. If you compare Orlando clinic dental and Johannesburg Parktown dental clinic are state own. I prefer Parktown there no long queue and they use X-ray. In Orlando no x-ray, long queues, very lazy and bad attitude

Public service employees seems to me have very cushy jobs, they do the minimum and constantly strike for higher pay. They do not understand the term “to service”

Truth be told Nehawu President, do you remember what Mr Jay Naidoo once said while SG of Cosatu. In case you don't know or intentionally refuse to remember, he said '' COSATU should only support the anc only when going for elections. After the elections, they must retreat to reclaim its autonomy. Instead the alliance changed its goal post for greed of power to be in government. Remember the saying that the dog will never bite the hand that feeds it. For as long as you are in bed with this corrupt government, service delivery will always suffer which ultimately results in incompetent workers in government institutions. From experience, I once wrote to the MEC for Health in KZN about one project that could have mitigated climate change by recycling garbage from waste - to - energy for a hospital but am still waiting for her reply till to date. If the MEC for Health undermines such an important initiative, who am I to expect better service delivery from her subordinates.
