This was very informative. I'm truly invested in relearning history, especially in the political space. I'm realizing more and more that what we learn in a classroom and in lecture halls is not the true reflection of actual history. So I appreaciate SMWX and many more platforms that apply factual and ethical journalism and story telling.
This guy is not smart. For over thirty years, the tripartite alliance has not held the ANC accountable. They condemned the ANC in public but commended them behind closed doors.
Wow. Thank you Qwabe to be brave and said it. The tripartite alliance arrogance caused this. Mapaile and critics should reflect if they held ANC to account for 30 years. They must stop with this emotional blackmail and go back drawing board as all is not lost🤛🤛
Agree 100%, and once again apartheid is being blamed after 30 years of anc rule. Yes, apartheid was a factor, I was born during the apartheid era so I experienced apartheid. anc is practising just as much, if not more apartheid than the boers did back then !

One of the best interviews so far, rich in history and the way forward. I see many in the comments are already eating up effective DA communications but not analysing it. However let's see if poverty, unemployment and inequalities will be changed by GNU rather than focusing on people running government effectively. In the western cape the DA runs government effectively but the lives of the black and brown people remain the same.
That was because the ANC has not been behaving well with it's neo-liberalism which takes a counter-revorutionary stance in the struggle for complete freedom for the black majority and the oppressed masses.
"GNU" is the most black betrayal ever. I'm Namibian 🇳🇦 and just like any other African, we suffer the same White oppression. What we all gotten is freedom of black representatives, replacing Whites in colonial architected institutions. Meaning; we gotten freedom of expression in exchange with land and business life to Whites. Now, to give back the polical power, we lost everything. We gave the land, business opportunities and political power back to the enemy. Ramaphosa betrayed not only RSA 🇿🇦 citizens but the entire black race.

Solly's thinking is a bit incoherent 1) ANC lost power, it couldnt go into government with their 40% 2) EFF didnt want to get into bed with ANC, MK-P also didnt want to participate, actually zuma thought without his votes, Parliament wouldn't corrade and parliament would have to be dissolved, how do you then start government with those kind of people 3) What contribution is SACP bringing to the table, in terms of votes, is their representation in cabinet proportional to the number of votes they bring? They cant even fill Daveton Stadium 4) What option did ANC have? 5) Maybe SACP should also get into election so they can be measured..
@@mgodoyikzn maybe he should draft a recovery plan , so we can get more votes and not need DA. Many of the ministers who failed our people in critical ministries which could help reduce unemployment, inequality and poverty, Higher Education and Training, Trade and Industry, Labour and Employment, etc are members of the central committee of this man's party.
This chap is funny!!! Bo Solly have no constituency, they survive by calling "our people" . They should go and run for elections and show us these our people.
They absolutely have nothing to offer but to piggyback on the ANC for their own benefit. They should prove their mettle by running for elections and acutely pull some votes which they can then assist the ANC to govern lol. Absolutely no credibility whatsoever

Thank you Sizwe, indeed wakha isizwe!
I think Solly is one of the dudes that are still stuck in the past, there's nothing wrong with this political choice,GNU. In fact there's a lot of positives that we're currently seeing in our communities, even with service delivery. You can hear the man from the beginning of the interview, where he comes from, it with take some time to actually eradicate the past from him, the vendetta he has with white people, the people that for now, have proven that they are pro's when it comes to governance. He also forgets that it's the people, not the ANC, that paved the new form of government, which is the collaboration of all the parties including the DA he's so much hating...
True Lobos. SWMX let the interview flow sothat these guys can show their self entitlement. Instead of apologising and call for a proper regroup he is busy emotional blackmailling us. All is not lost to regroup as black people instead of critisizing each other. 😢😢😢

VBS has raised it's ugly head, tax compliance Enquiries was made and settled, tender allegations was made and settled. After settling the tender scandal and tax issue, the grouping moved on. End the VBS and Floyd issue and move on. The SACP is a party of socialists and not a history channel.
This was the best African political and economic dialogue on the state of empowerment for the majority of black South Africans. This brother laid down a lot of issues as it relates to fairness and economic growth, the division among the Black South Africans, and a lack of in-depth vision and analysis from the ANC leadership. I know this would bring forward a massive exchange.

I agree with him on the issue of gnu. As an ordinary black man who has been an anc voter,I am disgusted by this nonsensical arrangement, the anc and all those who form part of the gnu will never, see my vote. As for me and my family we've made our choice.. The sacp are cowards they should go join eff or mk so that we move correctly,. I salute Colleen Makhubela , for joining mk after forming Sara, I salute andile mxithama for pulling out of election and rallying behind mk, the line is being towed. It's capitalism vs socialism
Ask Solly Mapaila if he could choose between obtaining a UK/US passport or a Venezeulan, Bolivian, Cuban passport, what would his choice be? I would be interested to know the answer since "progressives" (who always look to the past) speak so glowingly about these bastions of progressive policy. Also those in the comments, get a grip. Do you genuinely think an ANC/EFF/MK coalition would've moved this country forward? Come on guys...
White capital and liberal formation will and infact had been working hard to insure that black progressive movements are not to unite. They fear unity of Africans because from inception of imperialism, colonial conquest and Apartheid oppression, devision of African black people was a chief strategy that has been working all the time. therefore for ordinary black African when united Africans will be battling to govern due to opposing white liberals, that will look like a failed united African government. Best will be that the white capital and liberal formations to leave the African shores and let Africans to govern themselves in their land.
Don't say this country say white people since that is the meaning of this country. The black majority would be better off with those parties at the helm. DA criminals!!
One of the questions I would ask the leader of the SACP is: The SACP always threatens to break away from the alliance when the ANC seems to veer off from one resolution or the other, so the question is: Why is the SACP still with the ANC? Are they satisfied with the current state of the ANC and its decisions? What is "communist" about the SACP of today?
I love how utatuSolly touched on NHI and I too found it odd that there was an uproar by the "black middle class", even at work. They spoke on how it is not ideal as it would collapse the health space and bring about services that are not up to par just like the ones we endure daily in townships. I find this perspective as a huge problem because it insinuates that people who reside in townships should be contemptuous with what they are currently receiving as they are accustomed to it and the blacks that are doing "better" will cast a blind eye. It's truly sad. For me, if indlu iyatsha mazitshe zonke (I'm exaggerating), but you'll never know the brunt until you get burnt, so many of us are not aware of the severity and pain that people in the "lower-class" experience on a day-to-day basis and that's why we lack sympathy. It's seems like classism has become a thing among ourselves.
The black "middle class" and any other tax paying citizens of South Africa are right to voice out their concerns. The government has done nothing to put them at ease with public services. If anything, the government burns everything it touches. On top of that, South Africans are paying taxes only to queue behind foreigners at public hospitals and clinics. Why must the middle class pay for everyone else when nobody pays for them?
Who is to blame for the mess in the public hospitals of south africa? When they came into power, did they find these hospitals in a mess? NO. A big NO.

By saying ANC's decision to form GNU is selling out of our people, 'our people in this context absolutely means him, his family and his close friends. That is what he means.
@justhumble1 The ANC itself was very much oppressing us Black people with corruption, lack of service delivery and incompetence. Unemployment is sitting at its highest because of the ANC.
That's what they want you to do ......shift your focus from their today's apartheid.....jobs for their circles......not an ordinary citizen can access a job anywhere without their connections
GNU big mistake, we suffer in KZN no more government tenders. be4 was easy to get work from minstry public works. i agree with this man, he is one of us
The South African government at present is not a movement it is a government voted for by the people and As for the GNU this will show the ANC how to do the job of governing a country for the people that voted for you, when talk about a movement joint the EFF
If the DA is so good and will contribute greatly to the GNU, why is it the TOWNSHIPS in CAPE TOWN are in such a deplorable state? The GNU is not there to govern, the DA is in place to ensure PRIVITISATION is completed, and to continue to sell the country piece by piece to The Powers That Be (globalists). They will pretend to govern; loading shedding will be greatly reduced and the masses will feel as if there is tangible change, but trust and believe Black people will not see vast improvements in their lives. South Africans need to sit down and have serious conversations on where the country is going, and how to bring about RADICAL TRANSFORMATION from the GRASSROOTS.
The ANC was in power for 30 years and things just got worse😢, these ones were watching and were part of it. As for the GNU, we the voters are responsible for it and we know what we were doing 😅😅. We showed all these politicians that we not stupid.
This guy only hates Zuma. When it comes to Zuma, he dishonestly contradicts himself. He admits that the neo-liberal faction infiltrated and captured ANC. But he does not accept the fact that this same neo-liberal faction prevented Zuma from implementing a radical socio-economic transformation program as he desired and honestly attempted. He cannot even admit that he himself, personally and together with SACP and COSATU in general, worked hands in glove with the neo-liberal faction to not only make the Zuma presidency fail but also to project him as corrupt and thus conveniently push him out of power - all in the quest of assisting the Ramaphosa neo-liberal faction gain a firm grip on ANC and government. Secondly, he even has the audacity to appreciate the campaign by EFF against the ANC, but not the campaign by MK against the same ANC. When EFF does it, he hails it as a campaign he is willing to collaborate with. But when MK does exactly the same, he accuses them of pushing the liberals into ANC! What a dishonest fellow! Does he know about the corruption perptrated by his friends like Pravin Gordhan (SAA but to mention only one), Blade Nzimande (Nesfas), Phalama Jacob Mamabolo, etc - just to mention a few? Any way, Africa now knows who these fellows truly are and who they truly serve.
@njabulomsweli5057 Thank you so much for this, only a few people understand that Zuma faced opposition from within the ANC. He was set up to fail from the onset. Also a few people also have insight to the fact that Malema was actually expelled from the ANC by the same people who wanted Zuma to fail. They knew Zuma had a lot of support amongst the then ANC youth league.

Terrible story about the white man with the dog and the black man on the back of a bakkie. I was born in the 1980's and can honestly say i haven't seen anything like that apart from old movies and commercials. I thank the ANC, and I will forever be grateful to the ANC and other leaders who gave us this new South Africa for that. My problem now is growing up i saved and was able to but a car and was able to fit it with very nice speakers and a nice radio and even had an amp for the subwoofer. My car got broken into maybe 6 times. Lucky for me, i insured my car, and it was covered every time. But the area i lived in was a black area. You never saw a white man walking around, so it was safe to assume black people stole from me. Also, i had a gun pointed at my head and robbed in front of my friends house by a black man. The police officer who pulls me over and wants a bribe from me even though i did nothing wrong is a black man. When my mom got cancer and had to go to a state hospital, the nurses was black and they treated my mother of 71 years of age terrible. So following the reasoning of this dog story told i should hate and fear every white person even though i never experienced it? What about black people? Should i supply trust them because they are black? After all the bad experiences i had with them? Of course not, they are my people, and i know we are not all the same. i had a lot of good done for me by black people, but Why is it then that we can't understand that not all white people are bad? A black minister allowed state hospitals to get this bad that my mom had to go to. So why do people like this try and convince me that if black people in government is best for me? After 30 years of the ANC in government, and like i said, they have done some good, but the stealing and corruption makes our day to day life almost impossible.
You must come to north west province ventersdorp, lechtenburg, sinnishoff, delareyville, vryburg white people are still doing that thing black man at the back of the bakkie him alone in a double cap it is still happening in 2024.
You have a good heart my brother… I’m black and I wish we could never ever have black leaders in this country ever again. We have shown what we are all about and suffice to say nothing good. Facts…
@fxwic5072 is also not what I meant. The real problem is not black/white leadership. It is the lack of ethical leadership. People who care more about what they can do for the country rather than what they can extract for themselves. A perfect example is Gayton. Here is a man who says "I'll rather give up my salary to where it is needed. The reason I am here is to make sure the country is better for my future generations. Also, over the last 30 years, most of the "we can't live with blacks" white people have already moved away. What we have left are South Africans who love this country and have a much to lose as the rest of us if this country fails. That's why we can all work together to make things work. That is why I can trust any party who tells me the biggest problem in our country is the 8% (whites) population. We give them the all the power to make the laws and rules of the country. After 30 years "white" can't be a good enough excuse anymore. Not while it's black people now stealing from the poorest and most needy. Not white people stealing hospital funds to buy skinny jeans, or asking me for a bribe to get my government documents, or who stole the money from gogos in VBS, or the money to fix all the pothole the list goes on and of problems facing us everyday.

Always great listening to Comrade Mapaila speak out against the clear and shameless diviation of the current ANC from the original mission and vision of the once great liberation movememt. This is also, however, a very rich case study for the saying that says every single man has a price and all the enemy has to do is ask "How much?"!
Thank you for another great episode Dr Mpofu, Solly Mapaila himself was part of the movement that included white people against Zuma. Back then that was their GNU now he is complaining about karma. For a leader to still be talking about state capture today exposes him.
That time Zuma told them as early as 2015-17 that "their aim is to destroy the ANC, they want ANC to be below 50% so that it doesn't get governing power. & they using SOME OF US IN THE ANC TO ACHIEVE THAT" But these ones didn't listen, they were busy enjoying the ZUMA MUST GO money 🤷
I agree with Mr Mapaila that the ANC has sold its soul to capitalism. But he appears hypocritical to criticise that move while the SACP remains stubbornly alligned to their capitalist comrades policies. Perhaps they have a special dispensation where they can pick and choose where it suits them while retaining their salaries.
Mr Solly sounds is very intelligent and interesting... well that was until he had to speak about MK party and former president Zuma. Anyway, what is the role of SACP in this country for crying out loud by the way? Who will even notice if they stop existing even for years? Honestly speaking, I think if somehow their existence is supported by any of the state's funds that is the longest existing abuse of our funds since democracy.
Yooo🙆 Doc, this was very insightful and emotional😢. Thank you for always giving us the perspective of different blindspots in this democracy. Continue the great work. You are highly appreciated and look forward to these powerful conversations 🙏🙏🙏makwande!!!
Currenlty the DA is doing more for black South Africans than the SACP or ANC. The tripartite alliance has failed the people who vote for them. The DA grow the economy, create more jobs and don’t steal the money as the Tri-alliance do and did.

This was very informative. I'm truly invested in relearning history, especially in the political space. I'm realizing more and more that what we learn in a classroom and in lecture halls is not the true reflection of actual history. So I appreaciate SMWX and many more platforms that apply factual and ethical journalism and story telling.
Sacp has sold out many years ago.We are not fools Solly.
This guy is not smart. For over thirty years, the tripartite alliance has not held the ANC accountable. They condemned the ANC in public but commended them behind closed doors.
… because he is corrupt to the core. Like all people who push far left leaning ideologies they want to be custodians of wealth to control the masses.
Thank you for saying that,I was thinking the same
Wow. Thank you Qwabe to be brave and said it. The tripartite alliance arrogance caused this. Mapaile and critics should reflect if they held ANC to account for 30 years. They must stop with this emotional blackmail and go back drawing board as all is not lost🤛🤛
@khulekanimqadi3648 , wow, interesting views. I mean then it puts to question on what basis the alliance was formed.
All is not lost, MKP my only last hope, these guys failed to hold ANC accountable for these years, now they're back stabbing each other.
We will deal with the ANC decisively come 2029!!! Even in 2026 they will be delt with!!
SACP must leave the alliance and be on its own..we will vote for them ..not the EFF or the Capitalist ANC!
Our country is in a mess because of people like Solly Mapaila.
Agree 100%, and once again apartheid is being blamed after 30 years of anc rule. Yes, apartheid was a factor, I was born during the apartheid era so I experienced apartheid. anc is practising just as much, if not more apartheid than the boers did back then !
@@claudettebirkett1302agreed. I cant get a starlink satellite on out farm because ANC demand they incorporate BEE in their business. We're loosing potential investors.

What's the use or role of the SACP..... ?
To keep us from starting a communist movement outside the system maybe, but it's useless, it's the ANCs shame
It used to be a core constituent of the ANC
Chris Hani was member of the ANC and Umkhonto via him being leader of the SACP
Nothing is going to happen, nothing is going to change. The SACP has been in an unhappy marriage since the 90s, and yet here we still are.
They blow hot air ! They are incapable of being independent off the ANC
That was because the ANC has not been behaving well with it's neo-liberalism which takes a counter-revorutionary stance in the struggle for complete freedom for the black majority and the oppressed masses.
They must just go their way out
"GNU" is the most black betrayal ever.
The SACP is that abused partner stuck in a marriage, afraid to leave because they can't stand on their own two feet
SACP sold us long time ago when they took positions from the ANC especially its general Secretary and his being comprised by doing so....

Solly's thinking is a bit incoherent
1) ANC lost power, it couldnt go into government with their 40%
2) EFF didnt want to get into bed with ANC, MK-P also didnt want to participate, actually zuma thought without his votes, Parliament wouldn't corrade
and parliament would have to be dissolved, how do you then start government with those kind of people
3) What contribution is SACP bringing to the table, in terms of votes, is their representation in cabinet proportional to the number of votes they bring? They cant even fill Daveton Stadium
4) What option did ANC have?
5) Maybe SACP should also get into election so they can be measured..
He must understand that we got 40% ,why he is so,crying
@@mgodoyikzn maybe he should draft a recovery plan , so we can get more votes and not need DA.

Yes I agree, we hear it all the time?!!

Keep it up Solly, you are indeed a revolutionary, nevermind about who says what you fought for our liberation.
NO. A big NO.

The South African government at present is not a movement it is a government voted for by the people and As for the GNU this will show the ANC how to do the job of governing a country for the people that voted for you, when talk about a movement joint the EFF
Wat about poor people you think about them this GNU is for white to gain power nothing else but will be resolved sooner than later
Solly mapaila is talking sense.he also knows his stuff. I personally concur with him.

Loved it, Thanks Sizwe

& they using SOME OF US IN THE ANC TO ACHIEVE THAT"
But these ones didn't listen, they were busy enjoying the ZUMA MUST GO money 🤷

I agree with Mr Mapaila that the ANC has sold its soul to capitalism. But he appears hypocritical to criticise that move while the SACP remains stubbornly alligned to their capitalist comrades policies.

Anyway, what is the role of SACP in this country for crying out loud by the way? Who will even notice if they stop existing even for years? Yooo🙆 Doc, this was very insightful and emotional😢. Thank you for always giving us the perspective of different blindspots in this democracy. Continue the great work. You are highly appreciated and look forward to these powerful conversations 🙏🙏🙏makwande!!!
Someone show me a better podcast than 🔥SMWX ? Great work Dr Sizwe.
Keep them coming 🔥👌🏾
Thanks for watching! 🔥
Dear God, may the version of our future where Sizwe is exiled never happen , Amen.
Mapaila is one of the few ideologically sound leaders remaining on the continent. May God bless you with long life sir.
I'm loving this episode, big up to Sizwe
Currenlty the DA is doing more for black South Africans than the SACP or ANC. The tripartite alliance has failed the people who vote for them. The DA grow the economy, create more jobs and don’t steal the money as the Tri-alliance do and did.
Where and how?just give me 2 or 3 examples please.
Your mindset needs a tune-up.
They couldn't even do that in the western cape... Ubuwa nywana.
Stop lying Chief, you can lie to your garden boy and clever blacks not us
What did it do for black people cz it failed in western cape.
Thank you Sizwe. Bra'Solly just dropped a free political education to remind us of where we come from since we seemed to have lost our plot of where we're going this crazy GNU deal.
A career politician like Mr SOLI is the last person to talk about our identity,...we know who we are..
I appreciate you Dr Sizwe. Thanks to your podcast that we get vies that we never get from mainstream media. My only concern is that you go easy on these politicians. Please ask them difficult questions. We can't have ANC people pretending they are outside of the decision-making body of the ANC.
Agree fully, always puzzles me
@@mythoughts5170it's because he believes in what these people are saying
History will judge them Mr Mapaila I agree more with you
So when are we going to see the other side, those analysts and policy-makers who don't see the GNU as a mistake as they are conspicuously absent from the show which is disappointing as viewers should be encouraged to see both proponents and opponents.
I had to watch this multiple times
It gets better with every rerun
Solly did u relocate from SA 4de past 30years??? De state of decay that our country is in porous borders crime human trafficking extortions Drug trafficking.Poverty ye ANC kaloku dey had tools to change things dey didn't dey chose state capture useless cadre appointments!!! Talk4u not 4SAns we voted GNU sofar sogood
Yes you said mouth fully we got below 50%,,second option is to take DA and work with it ,GNU is our life time
Siyabonga Sizwe. You always deliver.
Solly was one of idiots who were protecting ANC Nd Ramaphosa today he doesn't have a position he talks the truth but during elections he voted for ANC Nd this GNU which was formed in 1992
Hypocrite
Listening to the introduction only.. It is clear that Mr Solly and many others of his age bracket suffered deep emotional wounds which can never be healed.. But.. For how long do we allow this age bracket to make decisions for our future, cause theere will always be a certain emotion attached to their decision making.. They should teach the younger ones.. But the youngers ones sbould decide our future.. Those ones that can make decisions withouth trauma affecting their thinking.. Im gonna continue listening now
Solly now he's getting back to his senses. Solly should start focusing of uniting progressive forces than criticizing them.
Size keep up good work of bringing all leaders so we can hear their stand on current situation we face in south africa
I am baffled as to the use of the word "progressive" ? To me, "progressive" is modern, growth orientated - Socialism is anything but. The object of Socialism is make everyone equally poor while enriching the political elite.
Nah, he isn't getting back to any sense. It is just rhetoric. He knows the voters love being regaled with stories of the past (which are important). He will tell you he doesn't like GNU and that ANC has sold out but the SACP is fighting from within 😂😅😊
Excellent 👌
Agree with Solly💯
The alliance is a big mistake😂
It was a big mistake from the start
