What if you have a table that has at least ONE candidate key that has NO partial dependency but other candidate key(s) that do have partial dependencies? Is that table in 2NF? If not, how would you put it in 2NF? For example, this table: R(A,B,C,D) AB -> CD C -> A D -> B **NOTE: I believe the candidate keys for this table are AB, AD, BC and CD but you may want to check my work. Thanks as always for the video! Very good job :)
I am working as an Assistant Professor in engineering college, was very much impressed in the way you explain, its really very good skill you possess. May God bless you, I am referring your video for GATE and definitely will also recommend my students too.

15.3.5 Second Normal Form Second normal form (2NF) is based on the concept of full functional dependency. A functional dependency X -> Y is a full functional dependency if removal of any attribute A from X means that the dependency does not hold any more; that is, for any attribute A*epsilon*X (X - \{A\}) does not functionally determine Y. A functional dependency X -> Y is a partial dependency if some attribute A & X can be removed from X and the dependency still holds; that is, for some A & Χ, (X - \{A\}) -> Y In Figure 15.3(b), Ssn, Pnumber} → Hours is a full dependency (neither Ssn→ Hours nor Pnumber → Hours holds). However, the dependency {Ssn, Pnumber} → Ename is partial because Ssn→ Ename holds.(actual defination of 2nf and partial dependency ) nawathe
