Ponowne pojawienie się Chin jako kluczowego gracza politycznego i gospodarczego od czasu liberalizacji pod koniec lat 70. może okazać się jednym z najważniejszych wydarzeń w najnowszej historii świata. Aby utrzymać wzrost w warunkach neoliberalnej globalizacji, Chiny musiały prześcignąć inne kraje rozwijające się na płaszczyźnie inwestycji zagranicznych. Takie podejście wymagało liberalizacji gospodarczej i społecznej. Jaki wpływ na świat będzie miała rosnąca potęga ekonomiczna i polityczna Chin w systemie międzynarodowym i ugruntowanym porządku instytucjonalnym? Na to i wiele innych pytań odpowiada prof. Yongjin Zhang.
Strefa Kultur Uniwersytetu SWPS to projekt, w którym wraz z zaproszonymi gośćmi omawiamy różne elementy otaczającej nas kultury, a także przybliżamy realia, zjawiska i obyczaje obecne w innych krajach. Do udziału w tym przedsięwzięciu zaprosiliśmy ekspertów z różnych dziedzin: filologów, językoznawców, kulturoznawców, medioznawców, dziennikarzy, socjologów i politologów. The re-emergence of China as a key political and economic actor since the liberalization of the late 1970s may well turn out to be one of the most important developments in recent world history. To sustain growth in a context of neoliberal globalization, China has had to outdo other developing countries in terms of foreign investment. This approach required economic and social liberalization. What impact will China's growing economic and political power have on the world in the international system and well-established institutional order? This and many other questions are answered by prof. Yongjin Zhang.
Yongjin Zhang
Professor currently teaches International Politics at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. He holds M.Phil. and D.Phil. both in International Relations from the University of Oxford. His principal research interest and publications cut across the boundaries of international relations theory and Chinese history, politics, economic transformation and international relations. He has also published in the area of the political economy of Chinese global businesses and that of East Asian regionalism and regional security in the Asia-Pacific. One of his current research projects is on "International Relations in Ancient China: Ideas, Institutions and Law", an interdisciplinary research drawing upon political philosophy, history of ideas, ancient history and international relations theory. His recent publications include "Barbarising” China in American trade war discourse: The Assault on Huawei (2021), The Chinese School, Global Production of Knowledge and Contentious Politics in the Disciplinary IR(2020), China and the Global Reach of Human Rights (2019).
