Speaking as a Cardinals fan who was 10 years old that night, letting Bob Forsch pitch in game 5 was more painful than that so-called blown call in Game 6. He was so ineffective. They should have pitched Danny Cox. The Cardinals had a chance to wrap it up at home that night, but they didn't. Had they won, there wouldn't be any Game 6.
An extraordinary thing happens in the 7th inning in this game, something that has never happened in MLB history before or since: Danny Jackson threw an immaculate inning (9 pitches, 9 strikes, 3 strikeouts). That was the first and only time it has ever happened in the World Series, or even in the playoffs. No one has equaled it in postseason play. Danny Jackson was brilliant with everything on the line. If the Royals lose this game, the Cards would have been world champions. The Royals have Danny Jackson, Bret Saberhagen, and Don Denkinger to thank for their first championship. Oh, and Dane Iorg.
Danny Jackson. How great was he. When St. Louis fans whine about this WS, all I say, and I was at all 4 games in KC, is look how many runs you scored. Our pitching. And defense.
Happens in the 7th inning, same inning Danny Jackson was immaculate (9 pitches, 9 strikes, 3 strikeouts). He had just one strikeout going into that inning. He got stronger as the game advanced.
For some reason the Cardinals couldn't hit during the entire 85 World Series. I know they lost Coleman to the turf but they had quite an offense with Ozzie, Clark, Landrum, Porter, Pendleton, McGee, Van Slyke. KC had a similar problem hitting as they had Brett, White, McRae, Balboni, Wilson, Sunberg, Motley, Orta, Sheridan. One of the best pitched World Series ever too bad St. Louie imploded they really could have won 1985 and 1987.
Both stadiums are so beautiful. KC shpuld umjunk Kauffman and get all that LED crap off.the walls, remove that.silly builsing in LF and alll the.of seating. Its not.clean to eye w all the crap.on the fields now. The game is rushed. Looks like Biff Tannen version.of hell valley in 2015.
The commercials by their self are worth the watch
I was at this game. 13 years old. Thought we were going to celebrate a ws victory. Thanks a lot, Danny Jackson.

5 foul balls, though. "Immaculate" should mean no one puts the bat on the ball.

Danny Jackson complete game... 125 pitches!
Thanks for posting these.
Like to hear from Tito Landrum at the start of this game, well spoken!
the play where Sunberg slid into home barely safe was prophetic of the game 6 winning slide when Dane Iorge hit the game winning base hit
George Brett slide into the dugout game.

Is Reggie forgetting that the Royals had JUST come back from down 3-1 against the Blue Jays?
And having to win games 6-7 on the road in Toronto as well, which made that comeback even more impressive

I disagree; both stadiums were dumps
Royals Stadium was gorgeous. Kauffman is not.
I agree. All the ads in the modern stadiums is an eyesore.
@@mshp0618 The game on the field is scarcely better.
mccarver is the worst.
Agreed. And this was him at his best, thanks to the 3-man booth. Should have been fired during the 1993 World Series.
