The creepiest part of the game was watching the credits after you've had your fun killing all the Ganados. At least Leon ended their suffering, but man, Saddler suddenly became a much more hated villain for me

Hopefully the remake will have DLC where you get to see the village before it’s downfall and these is fleshed out in flash backs or someway else I. The main game. A bunch of good sweet little Christians ❤️ they really got screwed… I’d like to see the chief being deceived and the little napoleon guy and influenced by the parasite so they’re more sympathetic. Kinda how the ring in LoTR pulls people to being bad when they normally wouldn’t. It’s more tragic and more believable.

I've replayed it countless times and the atmosphere along with level design just hits the spot for me. There aren't that many games i can replay years later and enjoy, but this one is an exception. Most of the games i rate above this have had a huge impact on me and some have impacted the entire gaming industry (classic doom, halo ce, duke nukem 3d/64 etc). As for ''hidden gems'' that deserved a sequel i would say metal arms glitch in the system. That game is also something i rate highly. Only horror survival/action game i rate above this would be dino crisis 2, but it's close.

0:38 As someone that did grow up with games that were wayyyy beyond his age, I kind of have an idea of how personally I managed that.
As a 5 year old that shared a PS2 with his brother, the games I tended to play the most were platformers, but I did step on games like Devil May Cry (the goat), Metal Gear Solid, GTA, and it was all thanks to my brother... kind of. He was legally an adult when those games released, and would buy them for himself to play, yet he really tried to make sure I wasn't playing those games and would hide them constantly, but like any kid would do, being told not to do something just made me more curious about them, and would end up playing those games way more than I would have otherwise if I was simply left to my own devices. I was also incredibly good at hiding what I was playing from my parents if my brother happened not to be around, so whenever I even as much as heard a noise, I would turn off the console and quickly switch towards something, and go like "Haha, I was just switching games". I think they knew about what I was doing, but I have never really asked them about it, and it's almost 20 years later, so I doubt they even remember about that.
Losing progress constantly was a real threat when doing that, but with, for example, DMC, missions took literally only a few minutes to beat, so I could just catch up once it was safe For other mature games, I would just save constantly and either get really good at them, or fail a lot. By 2005 though, when games like DMC3 and MGS3 released, my brother kind of gave up on hiding the games and just accepted that I was a criminally curious kid, and kind of understood in a way what I was doing, as he also would have done the same at my age. So basically, my own personal experience with playing adult rated games as a kid was literally "Got lucky with an adult brother, and was very cheeky when it came to playing them".
...Also, nice video! It's not like I have seen it fully yet, but I know it will be a good time.

I remember back in the day, my Mother and sister went to Iraq and my other sister and I had to live with our Father (not the best times of our lives). My Mom was always the one who bought games, so while she was gone for 18 months, I barely got any new games to play. Then when she finally came back (salute to our troops) she began to bombard me with new games.
She had bought me this game, and it had been so long since I played a RE game (Veronica was the last one I played til that point) that when she got it, I had forgot that I was actually a fan of RE so I left it in my pile of "unlikable games". Then one day, I ran out of games to play so I figured "Ehhh well, I dont remember Resident Evil being all that good, so, guess I'll play this to fill the time". Went in with very low expectations. Started playing... an hour went by... 3 hours went by.... 5 hours went by... next thing I know I was thinking "Dude...... Was Resident Evil ALWAYS this fun"???? lol. This game brought me back to the glory of horror games.

@@valentinionita4449 They may not be classic RE games, but that doesn't mean the games suck. 4 is an amazing game that people still look to for inspiration years later. 5 and 6 are both amazing games to play with a friend. It's absolutely mindless fun and I love 5 and 6 because of it. Just because you prefer the classic games to the newer games doesn't mean that they deserve to be wiped from existence. (This is coming from someone who's favourite game in the series is the remake of the first game)
You're just salty that the RE games changed over time, but if it didn't change the franchise wouldn't be what it is today. It wouldn't even be close to as well known and popular as it is now. If they kept going with the classic formula it would have gotten stale, and been cancelled because less and less people would play it. The tank controls and fixed camera angles were going out of style when 4 came out. The commercial failure of haunting ground would have cemented that for capcom. It wasn't popular, and it wasn't selling as much as it used to. Changing the approach was the logical choice, and it worked. Your take is extremely flawed. They tried something new with RE4, and it worked. 5 and 6 being action fests were the logical next steps. Just because it's not a traditional RE game doesn't mean that it's not an RE game at all.
Everything changes over time, especially big franchises. Just because you don't like those changes doesn't mean that game isn't apart of the franchise. Just because something includes something that was popular from different franchises doesn't mean it's apart of that franchise.
The going industry will ALWAYS follow trends on what's popular. And COD was popular when they were making 4, whereas survival horror was getting more obscure. 0:35 I grew up with games like these because of my parents, since I was way too young to play them myself. My dad was into the Metal Gear franchise and my mom was into the resident evil franchise and a little bit of Devil May Cry ,and I used to watch them play it alot when I was little and sometimes they'll let me play a stage or two. Eventually I grew attach to some of those franchise all thanks to them.

There is one other game I want to bring up that sprang up from RE4's development cycle and that is Haunting Ground. I'm sure you know originally Leon was going to explore the spencer mansion, he was infected by the progenitor virus and it caused him hallucinate, fight said monsters in hallucinations etc.
Haunting ground takes a from that and focuses more on the castle/mansion with a lone girl named Fiona having to escape on her own. Her only help of is from an all too familiar looking dog that will attack enemies for you. I truly really wish that capcom would've given that game a proper HD remaster during the 7th generation, sadly that never happened.
As for resident evil 4 it's self? I have mixed feelings on the game, but overall It's still holds well greatly as an action/horror game 17yrs later and I'm excited to see where the remake is heading.

If you do get to RE5 I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between playing it alone and with a friend

    • @GBDupree
      @GBDupree ปีที่แล้ว

I'd suggest with a friend FIRST. It'll make the experience better overall regardless of how he ends up feeling about singleplayer. For instance, if he were to start in single, and find the Sheva AI frustrating enough to sour his mood, it could carry over to his MP playthrough and he could overall dislike the game. But, if he starts with MP then he will have a good time and easily see with fresh eyes how its changes from the RE4 style either contribute positively or negatively to the experience, without the AI interfering. Then he could focus on the Singleplayer run with handling the AI and more objectively determine whether or not the AI hampers the experience, and without thinking it might have been his fault for not knowing what to do. So, because of this, if he finds the AI serviceable and not too big of an issue, then he gets 2 good playthroughs. But if he finds the AI inexcusably bad as some do, then he still had one good playthrough and can see how it compares to a proper run of the game. Personally, I don't find the AI too bad as long as you know how to handle them, so I've really never been frustrated with them.

I love RE4 Classic and I consider it a Masterpiece but it's not perfect/flawless, in fact I made a list of my Big Problems:
    - The Island is such a garbage part of the Game, it Spams The Fuck out of Projectile Users which is fine when used very sparingly but not when almost 66 (Not Counting Assholes who Throw Hatchets because if I did the Number would be in the 80-100 Range and that gives me a hernia) of them are used back to back (The Only Parts I Love are The Second Krauser Fight, The U3 Fight and The Regenerator & Iron Maiden Variant Encounters). Here's Hoping the Remake Fixes That Area
    - Cutscene QTE's can go and fuck themselves, I hate Cutscene QTE's. Games can do QTE's Well but MOST Games handle them Poorly and RE4 Classic handles most of them Poorly. Here's Hoping The Remake Doesn't Include These (which I heard will be the case, and thank god)
    - The Camios (The Wolf Enemy) Suck at Tracking The Player when Moving, which is very strange tbh. Here's Hoping The Remake Fixes This
    - The Novistadors are Shit Enemies. They are way too Nimble against the Player and they're the only encounters I genuinely despise. Here's Hoping The Remake's Ability to Move & Shoot will make fighting these bug-eyed bastards Fun & Tense
    - Certain Rooms weren't well thought out (The Wrecking Ball and Water Hall Rooms are the Main Examples I think of) as you have to Put your Back Up Against a Wall and Just Wait.
    - Two Guns I'm not a big fan of those being the Starting Shotgun and the Mine Thrower; I'm not a big fan of the Shotgun because it doesn't have anything that's truly exclusive to it when compared to the Striker & Riot Gun. I'm not a big fan of the Mine Thrower because Ammo is so Rare for it and The Mines don't have the Impact I want them to have. Again I'm hoping the Remake Fixes these two guns.
    - Sometimes Enemies won't react to attacks properly (For Example I shoot a Ganado in the Knee and He/She will Just fall Over, but if I shoot them in the Leg/Thigh then they'll Kneel) or I could be Point Blank in the Enemies Face & the Laser Sight is Right on them and the Shot just Misses, which is very Strange tbh. I just want the Remake to have More Consistentcy when Shooting Enemies.

If you'd ask me 5 years ago, I would pretty confidently say that RE4 was the best game ever made. 2017 may have changed that with Breath of the Wild, but the fact still remains that RE4 is a masterpiece, and as you put it, lightning in a bottle. I'm waiting to see what they'll do with the remake, because RE4 is one of those games that I confidently believe that if you change anything, the result will not be as good as the final product - it's bigger than the sum of its parts.

  • @Asaylum117

Resident Evil 4 was honestly the very first Resident Evil game I beat. I played the PS2 version, even though people will keep on saying it's the inferior version of the game. But hey, I still had fun playing the game on that system, so I had no problems with it. The one thing I wasn't the biggest fan of are quick time events, since they can be pretty unpredictable & sometimes get me killed, if I don't react fast enough or if I press the wrong button. That is especially evident during certain cutscenes, the one I had trouble with was when I first met Krauser. Sometimes I don't mind quick time events from games like God of War for example, since those QTE's give you plenty of time to react in time, so you can press the right button when you try to kill a boss or an enemy, but it isn't as punishing if you manage to fail that QTE. Resident Evil 4's QTE's on the other hand are more frustrating, then fun, since the game expects that every player who plays the game have fast reflexes when it comes to pressing buttons & punishes you, if you don't react fast enough, which will end up getting you killed.

I played RE4 in the PS2 about a year after it came out, I think. Being a fan of the series, it was the second thing I bought with my first paycheck (the first one being the console itself). I've purchased the game again in every platform it's available on that I own. I've got it on PS2, PS3, PS4, PC (in its two non-VR versions), Wii and Switch. It might be my favorite game of all time. Certainly one of my most played ones. I never get bored of it.
I'm really looking forward to the remake. While I would have prefered a Code Veronica remake first (seeing how it's canonically the next game in the main series after 2 and 3, and it would have benefitted from all the improvements much more than any other main game in the series) I'm still excited for it. I hope it continues the challenge/unlock system from the latest games in the series.

Bro, RE4 has never been the best game of all time. It's not even the best RE game, it's one of the worst. RE4 was the catalyst for the franchise becoming a series of cringe action games, that's one of the most egregious things. Resident Evil is supposed to be a survival horror franchise. The people who think RE4 is the best are normies and noobs who haven't been with the franchise since day one. Barely any RE fans over the age of 30 think 4 is the best and they're the only people who actually understand the franchise. RE4 is an average action game, but a terrible RE game.
