Yakima makes a hitch extender that allows for clearance and is compatible with the EXO. Extends 7.25”.

Can you switch the way it swings out.? If I want it to swing out to the left rather than right. I have a trunk door that swings to the right already.

I ordered the exo base . But it looks like it's in the way of the exhaust. I'm reading that people have their stuff melted or catch on fire from the exhaust. I have a 2018 kia sorento and and the hitch is a bit recessed. Would you recommend that I buy an extender that raises it up ?

Hello. The Yakima EXO SwingBase is compatible with the the Yakima StraightShot which will provide 7-1/4" of extension but no rise:

You did not show how to remove the EXO GearLocker from the SwingBase! That's why I watched!

Hello. You're right, we lifted it off in the beginning but didn't show that first it must be unlocked and the turn knobs loosened, basically the reverse from the step where it was placed back on and the knobs tightened and locked. Thanks!
