Funny coincidence that the UK election is on 4th July and the US election is on 5th November- each country is voting on the other country’s fireworks night!
I didn't notice that. An online American friend told me yesterday that fireworks are often let off the next day, due to rain, which occurred yesterday where she lives.
And November 5th celebrates the capture of Guy Fawkes who plotted with a bunch of others to blow up the houses of parliament, it was all about religion.

The reason a lot of this sounds familiar is because many Tory polices such as Brexit* and Liz Truss's disastrous mini budget come from 55 Tufton St. A far right think tank that is funded by far right US billionaires such as Robert Mercer (who funds Steve Bannon) and the Koch brothers.
Brexit was about getting rid of EU rules which protect ordinary people, but reduce corporate profit😪. Annoying stuff like human rights, workers rights, polluition and environmental controls, food safety and animal welfare standards, etc.
These are what have always stopped an Eu/US trade deal. The EU say America needs to raise it's standards before it's goods can be sold in the EU whereas the US wants Europe to lower it's standards to those in the US. No way will they raise theirs because it will cost the bi US corporations money and reduce their profits. And we can't have that can we?

The thing about housing in the UK is that you could be paying £2000 a month to a landlord, but the minute you want to buy, the mortgage is usually a smaller payment like £1500 for example, but the bank will say no and say you can't afford it. Makes zero sense. ❤ I pay £290 a month for rent which is totally acceptable. I feel bad for anyone who wants to buy.
£290 sounds like a dream, down here where all my family are you need an income of £50,000 a year for a ok 2 bed in a shitty area. We are doomed, currently.

What annoys me most is that there are many people in this country that would make excellent politicians but, they're probably earning much more in other jobs and/or they don't want the media pouring over their personal lives looking to trip them up. Such a shame and a loss to the country. I suspect its the same the world over.
Yes, that is why I as a politician would like the salaries and pensions for politicians increased including you get a pension directly after service when you´ve served a period ( to at least a decent IT or CEO salary) but make it NOT allowed to sit on any bords during or 5 years afterwards your mandate or be employed by any lobbyist organisations ( exeptions being NGO´s- charities the period after service) and also not allow companies or lobbyists to give money to parties at all and only allow private citizens to give a limited amound say 500 dollars a year to political parties including if bequathed as well as give the parties more state money to the parties to be able to have a basic administration ie remove a lot of the temptation to corruption - there will still be corruption because we as politicians are human too but at least the systems won´t activly encourage it.
First time home buyers don't exist anymore in the uk, its rough for young people
They do if mummy and daddy are rich enough to buy your house for you, or if you are 50 yrs old or more.

Yes, you are right. We have many problems in the UK, NHS, cost of living etc but these are problems that may take a long time to solve but are solvable. This problem with young persons even when they are earning a reasonable salary in a good job (teachers, nurses etc) have trouble renting accommodation let alone BUYING a flat or house, this must be unacceptable in a developed country. We should all be collectively ashamed of ourselves to allow the young generation to be in this position.
Not to worry, soon you’ll be being told how in Europe they tend to rent not buy anyway, so it’s all completely fine and normal

Apart from all the bad behaviour mentioned is that the Conservatives have somehow normalised far right wing fascist views and actions - and now we have four fascist members of the House of Commons under the badge of ‘Reform UK’. We now have a Labour Government which has already started making good decisions and will hopefully reverse some of the damage done in not just 14 years but that done by Conservative Governments over the past fifty.

EDIT= and don't get me started on the energy "crisis". When the Ukraine war started, prices skyrocketed and I did accept at the time it was because of supply chaos following the cutting off of all trade with Russia. But in the years since, the supply has been sorted out, it all comes from alternative sources now... But the prices haven't gone down again, at all. The energy companies are posting obscene profits in the years since the invasion. They're not having supply issues, it's just blatant profiteering and they're not even trying to hide it, nothing is being done about it and we have no choice but to pay this extortion...

I have to disagree, arseholes are useful for getting rid of💩, where as politicians take the piss and create a whole heap of 💩 for everyone else to deal with.
@@MikePhillips-pl6ov Agree totally, You do it because you want to change the world and make it a better place... and what most people don´t realise is that most people who are active in politics on the more basic levels also make very little money or in practice loose money being politically active, there are though those who realise that the way to make money is to be corrupt or that just one little thing wouldn´t hurt and then there was that other little thing in the name of it being expeditious after which they one day wake up with a huge lump in their stomachs realising that they´ve become what they´ve despised or someone is extorting them . My take on the whole thing is we need to pay are politicians a lot better including giving them a decent pension after one term but also remove the possibility to be on boards or be involved in lobbyist organisations during their mandate and 5 years after service and remove all political contributions/ donations from companies or lobbyist organisations and only allow private donations up to say 500 dollars a year or 600 Euro plus give the parties a bigger basic admin sponsorship from the state to employ people and be able to have an office . Thanks for that - your reactions were most entertaining. Luv Jonathon Pie he says it like it is. Now the hard work starts for the new / old Labour government and we get to rinse and repeat in next years local council elections....what joy!
An MP was in the house of commons watching porn on his phone. His excuse was being a farmer he was searching for a tractor called the the Dominator and up popped a Sexual Domination site. The thing is he got caught watching it twice. He resigned after suspension. Hence the term Tractor Porn.
Both countries are going through the same issues, but I recon the US is far worse off. We least have more workers rights (sick pay, holiday pay, maternity leave/pay etc.) and though houses are stupidly expensive here at least we won't go bankrupt due to healthcare bills whilst we're saving for a mortgage. I think both countries need a good shake up. Sadly, the far-right is on the up and things will probably get a whole lot worse before they get better. If ever
That's what happens when you don't want to pay tax or fund the government & would rather spend all your spare cash on a juicy new AR-15 than spend it on new roads or a health service. You get what you pay for. (usually).
In case nobody's answered this. A politician was reported for watching porn during a debate in the House of Commons while on his phone. His excuse was that he got on the website by accident, he was really looking up tractor manufacturers.
I love that you love Jonathan Pie 🙃
30p lee what a melt he is!
And he’s predicted to win his seat for Reform! 😫
I don't know how someone can listen to this, and still vote tory. Like, how have they done a good job, how could any of the other mainline options possibly be worse?
The best and most accurate political commentator in the UK and he's a clever work of fiction by comedian Tom Walker. I'd love to see them actually give him screen time on the UK's premier politics show BBC's Questions Time, they'll never do it though as he tells the truth! Saw him live at Newcastle City Hall earlier this year and had sore sides through laughing at the end of the night, yes he's funny and brutal but by god he hits every nail on the head and tells the truth unlike the mainstream media who have supported that nest of vipers for longer than I can remember. I'm fifty three and lived though Satan's mistress Margaret Thatcher's dismemberment of the British state (especially anywhere North of Watford that even smelled slightly industrial) and selling anything off she could find to her hedge fund city cronies for them all to make a quick buck. We had street parties when she died in my neck of the woods and its a direct result of her slash and burn 'greed is good' neoliberal economic polices in the 70's and 80's that have continued to allow the Tories to suck the very marrow out of nation that they have hallowed out and left gasping its last on its knees. And lets not even start on Tony fucking Blair the grinning war criminal and Tory in a Scooby Do villains disguise masquerading as Labour.
Great post!
And no one can challenge Pie on these facts because they're all 100% true!
The sooner Scotland breaks away from this shit the better
SNP got destroyed, Independence is finished.
@@phillydavison somehow, I don't think so
Labour should have used that with their campaign
Yes they should, now you have Sir Keir to the rescue.
Man, you should put on a cowboy hat and get a green-screen of Capitol Hill. Call yourself Chad Pie or something and just do the same thing.
An mp was found watching porn in Parliament. When challenged he said he was looking at tractors. Pie is funny, his delivery is fast and furious.
When’s Black Books? The election is today 4/7/24. He’s right
That wasn't a rant. That was a thoughtful and considered telling of the facts.
I remember staying up all night at my mates house in 97 watching 'New Labour' frontman Tony B's beaming smile............believing my 'council estate of mind, hand me down, left behind, nose-blind to chip fat & 20 burgers for 10p experience of childhood were gonna change! In reality though? Some things improved, some worsened. It's like playing Jenga, in that: Idealistically, you can remove a brick from one level and put it on top. However, with time, the gaps lead to collapse & you let someone else have a go.
There are much worse places in the world to live though
Keep going & growing this channel. I love your views x
It is all accurate unfortunately.
