    Sir in this test which eye that can we taken to test ,the eye we placing maddox rod or the white light fixating eye?

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can place Maddox rod in any eye.
      ▪️If you place Maddox Rod in fixating eye then you will compare white light with red line.
      ▪️If you place Maddox Rod in Deviated eye then you will compare red line with white light.
      Generally we place Maddox Rod in fixating Eye.

    In case of esophoria or exophoria base out prism is used to correct deviation and for exophoria or exotropia ' base in' prism is used. Now my question is what is the power of that prism ?

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That identify by Prism Bar Cover Test. In this test a Prism is placed with apex towards deviation then cover test is performed to check the movement of deviated eye. Prism is increased gradually till there is no movement or deviation is present. That gives the amount of Deviation.

    Sir ,my last question
    If I'm placing maddox rod in right eye(deviated eye), patient response is vertical line is left side of the patient, so the interpretation is right exotropia. Is that correct?

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Try to understand the mechanisms. We compare the image of deviated eye with fixating eye not patients side...
      If you place the Maddox in deviated eye (right eye), that means red line is the image of deviated eye and point light source is the image of fixating eye (left eye).
      Now, if patients response is "Red line is left to the point fixation that means right eye image shifted inward, so eye is deviated outward or exotropia.
      So, you are right.

    Hi sir,
    You said that maddox rod is placed in front of fixating eye.
    ie., here fixating eye is normal eye ( not deviated eye) . Is that correct?
    I'm getting confused..

    Sir, can we use maddox tangent scale and measure amount of deviation. Is that used only in case of distant measurement?

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, We can use Maddox Tangent Scale and measure amount of Deviations.
      Maddox Tangent Scale is available for both distance and near.

      It's Opposite, if eye goes in image will shift out and vice versa.

    Not tropia...this will be phoria.please check your interoperation

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In both phoria and tropia image will shift opposite direction of deviation. The difference is, in phoria patient may Fuse the red line and the white light source or reduce gap between red line and white light source with fusional effort where in tropia the gap between red line and white light will be constant.
      So, it can be tropia or phoria both. You need to do cover test to confirm the diagnosis.
