It felt like I was watching early 2010s Rangers when they just could never get the puck out of the zone, that third goal was only a matter of time because of the amount of time the Canes had in the zone. Overall they're still playing well tho.
That's the only concern with this team. They still get caught in their own zone for awhile but if you look across the league so are the other juggernauts. Vegas was severely outshot for stretches. Edmonton got out possessed in their zone last night so it's gonna happen. Difference with this team is when we finally do get out of it unscathed we can actually score with limited chances. Years past we needed 30 shots to score 1 or 2. This year we can put up 4 on 25 shots. Scoring has been our downfall since our runs started in 2011.
I think both teams' defenses were slow in this one due to the roughly week off they both had prior to starting this series. Look for both defenses to step up in game 2. The Rempe call was not a penalty as he was clearly pushed in to the goalie BUT about five seconds prior to that Rempe got away with either a roughing or boarding in the corner that went uncalled. lol at anyone whining over Rempe earning himself a reputation. I’m a Devils fan. I hate the Rangers. But I’ll give credit where credit is due. He literally has a teammate who could is a master class in his field-Trouba. I hate Trouba. But he’s terrifying to play against. He does his job. He doesn’t even need to throw a huge hit every game or even that often. He has developed the right rep to scare people when he’s on the ice. Rempe just skates around like a Hanson brother and would hit his mother if she leaned over the glass. Hes not going to last long.
I don't know what the NHLs problem is with Rempe. I can't put my finger on what their deal is. My only theory is that they are legitimately concerned that this guys gonna hit someone and do serious damage. So they call these bs penalties on him to soften up his aggressiveness. Only thing that makes sense because it cant be argued that they are definitely hawking him the second he touches the ice.
The Rangers owned most of the game. Even the parts of the game in which it seemed like Carolina took controlled, it was an uphill battle at that point to overcome just how timid they played all game. Even when they made it 3-2, and it seemed like Carolina took control, that same timidness was seen with whiff of the puck leading to the Rangers 4th goal
i dont think the deangelo penalty should have been called. it was not high enough to bee considered an elbow. if you look closely it was in the collarbone region so i dont understand what h got called for. i think they said roughing but idrk
I think that the rangers stopped taking chances offensively and concentrated on shutting down Carolina. That's why Carolina had the puck so much at the end of the 2nd and during the 3rd. Midway through the 3rd Carolina had only 14 sog. I think Carolina had luck on their side. Let's see what game 2 has in store.
Carolina had some lucky bounces and an uncharacteristic sneak through the 5-hole by Igor as well. the implication that the Rangers got lucky here is odd coming from a Rangers' homer.
I Disagree I think the rangers 4 goal was just placed well because my goalie said if he play it perfectly between a goalies blocker and pad it will go in almost no matter what
Just here to observe the silence from all the experts who were so sure that the Rangers would be steamrolled by the Canes and that the First Round sweep meant nothing because the Caps sucked.
Slavin and Burns were sloppy tonight, also where the hell was Teuvo for that goal? One of our worst defensive games at least this half of the season. If we play a full 60 minutes the rangers can't even touch us and I honestly feel good about getting a road win going into game 2. Definitely overall both teams looked rough after so much time off, I'm not expecting a shot total below 40 to happen again in this series.
Aside from the fact of being 3-10 the last 13 vs the rangers. “Can’t touch us” is so funny though. After you sniffed their asses all season long. Get a grip. It’s gonna be a long series. Could go either way. But can’t touch us is an absolute joke.
☝🏻haha yea this didn't age too well. Canes offense is overrated. Yea they're a great team and there's still a ways to go but look at your high danger scoring chances before you crown your boys. 57 shots does dick if majority are low percentage seen by Igor. Had some good chances no doubt but MANY of those shots were NEVER going in. Canes look good on paper with their shots. You barely put the islanders away because like i said. Mostly padded shot stats.
Ok but can we talk about how absolutely horrible the refs were in game 2. So many blatant penalties against Carolina and they were the ones getting called for stuff.
I was literally staring at me screen like Mika…I’m sorry I love him so much he’s literally my favorite non goalie player but WHAT was that move from him
Agree with you Eck, not super pleased from a Ranger perspective. I think the Canes are stronger 5v5, if they stop giving the Rangers power plays the Rangers are gonna struggle
The thing about the Rangers is, they find different ways to win most of the time. They didn't win the PT for nothing. They'll figure it out any way they can.

Technically the second round started before the first ended lol
“New York Rangers number 73. 2 minutes for, uh… being too big.”
Igor > Freddy will be the biggest diff, ST's are same, both physical, both deep
I don't know what the NHLs problem is with Rempe. I can't put my finger on what their deal is. My only theory is that they are legitimately concerned that this guys gonna hit someone and do serious damage. So they call these bs penalties on him to soften up his aggressiveness. Only thing that makes sense because it cant be argued that they are definitely hawking him the second he touches the ice.
So what was the answer to the "why would anyone ever do this ? "
Hello my favorite TH-camr
Is PEAK Hoops his 2nd channel?
The refs screwing over Rempe every time he touches a guy is really pissing me off. It’s ridiculous. Let the guy play hockey!
Rangers barely held on to this one. Canes offense was off but they were dominating the Rangers zone, I expect a better showing for the Canes game 2.
I Disagree I think the rangers 4 goal was just placed well because my goalie said if he play it perfectly between a goalies blocker and pad it will go in almost no matter what
@eck that rempe call is a secondary call for boarding/crosschecking 5 seconds earlier. Fair enough in mu eyes, also "pushed" is a stretch.
Trocheck is a huge upgrade over Ryan Strome.
Don't understand your headline....did you forget to show us something?
Just here to observe the silence from all the experts who were so sure that the Rangers would be steamrolled by the Canes and that the First Round sweep meant nothing because the Caps sucked.
What does the title have to do with anything
Canes played a terrible game. From Andersen to the burns-Slavin D line. We’re either gonna play better or lose in 4 💀
Rempe's on the ice, that's a paddling.
i like how the Rangers Coach was mad at Rempe for poor performance. like really? he had more goals in the playoffs than Ovechkin
Rempe gets a penalty every game for elbowing Jonas Siegenthaler two months ago.
@ 2:30; Guentzel goalie interfering.
This is a toss up series and it will go 7. The only way this series ends in six is if a key player on either side gets injured. Just my opinion.
GO RANGERS
canes win this series. not up for debate. congrats to Kuzy and the canes on their cup win
I was literally staring at me screen like Mika…I’m sorry I love him so much he’s literally my favorite non goalie player but WHAT was that move from him
why would you ever do what?
Mika's back pass wide open in front of the goalie
Rempe kind of had it coming, I feel.
Rangers dominated first and second periods. And should've had more PPs. They for sure got outplayed in the third but think youre exaggerating a bit
Rangers had to start playing already before west coast finished
Because knicks also finished and have to work around it
Rempe got penalized because they penalized Tony after the "tripping call" which after review was called for high hit, even though it wasn't a hit.
"I'm not going to complain about the officiating but one of the biggest goons in the league is taking penalties." Bound to happen
@@Justme77400 yeah after talking with a friend something I overlooked was Shesterkin, he’s gonna be a huge factor. I think it’s going all the way
