It's like god used all his attribute points on the FULL SEND option. When most peeps get 1 or 2 points, R. Willy is maxed out @ 1000.
If you grew up watching the X Games evolve, then you would understand how far ahead this kid is. Like a damn video game character

He got robbed at this event. A single triple backflips compared to 2 Worlds first trick. How tf does the triple get a higher score.. smh
The triple backflip was actually a triple flip no hander, which is also a worlds first
Exactly dylan did a tripple flip and scored lower then ryan but rhys did a tripple flip no hander which was also a worlds first so that scored higher

Look…..I’ve been around dangerous sports for a while. I have some idea what the internal vibe/headspace/motivational feeling is like in those groups of friends. EVERYONE knows R Willy is not just the best in that crew but, arguably, the greatest action sports athlete in the world right now. There are people like Alex Honnold, Candid Thovex, Garrett McNamara, etc that belong in that convo too. I get the vibe that they’re trying to reign R Willy in a bit and motivate him at the same time. These are all close friends. I guarantee the judging has a heavy motivational/consensus undercurrent.

This was supposed to be a Saturday and Sunday event here in Australia, but they both got cancelled because of bad weather. So they moved it to the Monday at late notice so a lot of the people expected to go on the weekend didn't end up going unfortunately.

he experiments, most BMX riders don't do scooter, he translates his skills in other sports into his BMX and vice versa, truly a savant, the front bike flip front flip he did in the exact same way he did the scooter one, but he added a barspin, on the scooter which means he is likely much more comfortable with that movement
its easy when you just try these tricks over and over onto a giant airbag and foam pit with no worry of repercussions
he probs is more comfortable on the scooter but doing it on a bike is way harder and to add a barspin to that would be nearly impossible on that ramp at least
Can we PLEASEEEeeeeee get R Willy into Slopestyle and Freeride mountain bikes?!?! If he were to compete at Crankworx and Rampage it would evolve the sport. God. Imagine what this guy could do on a big bike!!

Terry price is such a goat, I love how he still involves himself into the sport as much as he can. Back in the day R Willy was the first MGP Oceanic rider when rob, terry, Perry and Dan recruited him 😎so many years ago
I knew scootering would eveuntually become a "real sport". As a kid I saw the possibilities, but I could never do the tricks myself. Cool to see what it became 25 years later.

I care about action sports a lot and it broke my heart to see a place so empty with the work these folk put in, I was worried people had abandoned it. I don't have the money and I'm not in a place where I can even watch BMX live- I live in an island and I've seen it once in my life at Download Festival. The rest is all internet. It's so important these sports keep going because of the love the "competitors" give each other.
Football, Soccer fans, a lot of them hit each other and bully but I haven't seen anything but folk wanting to get better at the sport when I started BMX at 6.
I only had a magazine style book and a downhill mountain biking video and my Dad said "that's not the way to ride a bicycle"- old school is old school.
I didn't have a park or a mountain 🤣
I was wondering the same, I think the issue is that it's not the 90s/2000's anymore when even a single backflip was super rare and unheard of. The tricks these days are so common and everyone has seen them, the only person that ever suprises me now is R Willy, because he does new stuff.. Everything else people have been watching for the last 20 years happen, the newer generation is consumed by technology so they don't really care about this kind of stuff anymore.

The trick that Loki just pulled off on that bike was nuts, CGI is looking more & more real every day, hey I wasn't there so I don't know, I watched it from home on my laptop I also watched the matrix, star wars and I hate CGI graphics but did you see how real those flips looked
