    Hey there! I made a petticoat like this one and a reallt useful hack was to instead of pins use bobbipins (like, the ones you put in your hair) and go in between the small openings in the tule and They don't fall of!!!!!

      You can do it! It you want it to take a shorter amount of time, make sure to get the stiffer tulle rather than softer because you don't need as many layers as soft (but it will look a bit different :))

  • @b28mathstutor
    @b28mathstutor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really helpful, thanks. I've just made one using these instructions as my basis. My tiers were each 9" deep (and I had to trim the top one down to 7" before adding the elastic because it was a bit too long for the dress). I only had 6m of stiff tulle (60"/150cm wide) so I used 2m for the first tier, 5m for the second and 2 layers of 12m each for tier 3 (the flounce at the bottom).
    Magu's tip of using bobby pins (we call them kirby grips here in the UK) instead of pins was really helpful. For the lower two tiers I attached them at intervals of 25 cm for tier 2 and 60cm for tier 3 (same ratio as the 5:12 for the lengths), then gathered as I went round. For the top two tiers it was 20cm for tier 1 and 50cm for tier 2.
    The resulting petticoat has so much body that it literally stands up by itself!

    Hello and Love from India ❤ I am not sure if I am gonna get a reply because it’s an old vid but i am gonna try😅 i have a question for you, did you use stiff polyester net or nylon net? Because their stiffness has a huge difference and I need the answer desperately because hard polyester net is very cheap and available here but nylon hard net is expensive, they also have different hardness, by seeing your video I am assuming you have used nylon net but in a TH-cam viewer comment you replied you used polyester net. I am confused, if you cleared the confusion I would be obliged ❤❤❤❤❤

    Where did you buy the tulle? I'm also in Australia, and really confused about the different stiffnesses of tulle.. and netting ... like how would your tulle compare to the standard $2/m netting at spotlight? In terms of stiffness? It makes such a difference to the volume! The tulle on the bolt I've seen others use seems to be a lot softer... and how much of the bolt did you use?

    • @KirileeCosplay

    Hi Kirilee, I get a lot of my fabric from spotlight, and I know that you do too, so I was just wondering which tulle you used for this petticoat! I am looking to make my own, and I don't know which will be too soft, I'd be so very grateful for any help!

      The tulle you can get from spotlight will work very well for this type of petticoat. It is quite rigid

    How fluffy of an effect do you get without the chrinolin? I'm making this some time this week or next week for a dress I'm doing for a costuming project, and I want pretty poofy. Should I do multiple ruffle layers over it if I'm not doing a chrinolin? Or is this still reasonably fluffy?

      There is a clip in the video where I show what it looks like without a crinoline. That will give you an idea

    Hello! Could someone tell me what exactly changing the proportions would do? Like what would make it fluffier and what would make it less fluffy? Thanks!

      The longer the strip is, the more dense the gathers are, the floofier it is.
      Ie. A 3 meter strip of tulle will be floofier than a 1 meter strip of tulle
