@14:26 that “turn” is just genius, sounds and looks so simple , tbh just that principle of turning and opening the face of the nib has upscaled my flourishing! You are an absolute genius.
At 10-minute mark, i had to try what you just showed and those 10 minutes alone elevated my brush pen scribbling from utter garbage to something, that I can finally work with. Paul Antonio - calligrapher by day, magician by night!
@@PAScribe Excuse me, scribe, not calligrapher! :) I am still trying to find the right position and initiate the movement from the wrist. Still feels weird and the sweet spot is elusive, but I can feel how tremendously it changes how the pen moves on paper. Thank you very much for sharing all that knowledge!

good video just one problem is "i wish the quality was better because I cant really see which side he is using with doing copperplate with the dip pen pointed nib" :(
@@PAScribe thanks. I'm a painter and a beginner in calligraphy. I'm searching for all the ways to improve myself and this interest me a lot. I'll search to buy it anyway
Thanks Paul I found it on Amazon for the wife it’s really neat but I’m a pen nib guy....don’t believe I have enough experience with brush pens or know how to use them but I think you could write with a sponge and it would be beautiful!
PaulAntonioScribe What do you mean by "I don't refill mine." ??? 🤔 Do you own some kind of magic power that makes your pens and brushes never running out of ink (which I was already suspected...😉) ?? And since you speak about Edelstein inks at the beginning of the video, wouldn't they work as well as the 4001 ? Or any kind of fountain pen ink actually ? I've refilled my Pentel Pocket brush (which is not as good as this Kuretake Sumi) with some Noodler's ink and it's working pretty well, at least at my very own small level of practice. And about the design you're teaching, the opposite-mirrored side is so hard to do !!
PaulAntonioScribe I'm still not sure why I would need hypodermic needles to refill my pen with some Pelikan 4001 (but even though, I'm actually suffering from a chronic illness and do have needles). I know you're already doing a lot on TH-cam for the community but, any tips about the opposite side of the design in the video ? You're teaching so well ! Thanks again for all !!!! Love from France, Marjorie
PaulAntonioScribe Ooooh ! Cartridges ! That's an idea 💡 ! (I'm being ironic towards me ! Do you believe I actually forgot this brush is working with cartridges... How stupid can I be ? )
I appreciate that you are sharing your class video. But the quality is fuzzy and grainy making it difficult to even see your work. Can'e even see the fine lines. Still getting a lot from your videos despite the low viewing quality. Than you very much.
Could you please list exactly which pen you are using? It appears that you are dipping your brush into the Pelikan ink bottle. Is this correct? Thanks so much for your AWESOME demonstration!!
Can you get Amazon in Canada? Try their prices. Also Jet.com offers a set of 8 colors for $189, less 15% on "your first 3 orders" & free shipping. I'm seriously thinking of springing for this
This was not made for TH-cam. The camera was set on a tripod no one was looking at it as it was a class where the focus was those in the class. I chose to share it as there was useful information in it others where we’re not there could have benefited from. Maybe I will remove it. As I am a little fed up of the lack of gratitude.

That is great to know it helped you so much. It is all about taking your time and understanding the technique.

@@PAScribe Oh! Cool, to be honest I missed the links in the description. Thanks, will check them out!
its so great that you always remind us how to hold the pen
One of my favourite Pas' videos and perhaps the most difficult one to master; Brush pens are not easy. Kuretake 14 is still my favourite one.
Paul Antonio is one of the world’s top calligraphers
Sir Paul Antonio also taught me simplicity.
Love it! Are you paying attention?😀 Brilliant!
Looks so easy when he does it
This is asmr for me.

I am sure you can appreciate this was an impromptu video. There are other videos on my channel which covers this info in other ways
Oh my god!!! Yes!!! I HAVE the edelstein set of 8 colors!!! Amazing!!!!! 😍
Calligraphy
fantastic
Interesting.. could one achieve better ordinary handwriting using this particular penhold with a pencil or ballpoint ?
John R certainly. It decreases finger work allowing for lighter writing and greater nib distance coverage with less movement.
Beautiful! Which kind of pencil is this please? Really love and want it
Terry Pangood this is not a pencil it is a Kuretake Brush Pen

Are his rings a fashion choice, or do they serve him as a master penman in some way?
Murray Kitson wedding rings. A long story
Murray Kitson is he a master penman?
Hey, What ink you use for that flourishing with dip nibs? Please give me details.
Anand Antony I honestly can’t remember. It might be Pelikan 4001
What brand of pen brush is this please?
Randy M fude8
Can you please provide a link to where we can buy these pens? I have tried to research it and can't find what you are using.
Randy M these are Kuretake products. Some are not available in the US

With what kind of ink can I refill my sumi brush (the cartridges are only available in black) ?
margessw I don't refill mine. You could use Pelikan 4001 but you will need a hypodermic needle to do it

Seems like its the Pelikan Edelstein fountain pen inks.
Thanks! Yes I researched these inks and they appear amazing! Expensive though
Oh yeah they are. I've wanted to buy a bottle for awhile now, but in canada its $45!

Raushan Alam so what
Great content but the video quality is awful.
Dark, grainy And out of focus, such a shame :/

Your camera person does not centre on the work which we so want to see…

Didn't understand even a single thing
Funny that everyone else did. Maybe you need to pay closer attention and make some notes.
