Han Kang, who wrote The Vegetarian, also wrote a book called Human Acts. It is devastatingly heartbreaking, but so beautifully written (and based on a historical event). It’s one of those books that I think will always stick with me. Very highly recommended, whether or not you end up enjoying The Vegetarian.

The Goblin Emperor is one of my favorite books! I strongly recommend reading it before The Witness for the Dead, which is also great. They’re not exactly a series, but they’re in the same world and connected in an interesting way. I think it would help to understand the world if you read them in order, though. I look forward to hearing what you think of them! 😊

Vegetarian was one of the best books of my 2022! And I think some people don't wanna read it because they don't want the "green propaganda" or vise versa, however in reality book is about women position in Asian countries and societal rules. Highly recommended!

The Goblin Emperor is so good! It can definitely be read as a stand-alone since the sequels don’t follow the same main character.

with kittens on the way, I feel that your next haul might include Tiny but Mighty by Hannah Shaw (she is known on TH-cam as a Kitten Lady). A book about saving (orphan) kittens, how to take care of them, how they grow, what they might need, and how to get them adopted too (also how to deal with loss, if it happens). Even though you have a momma, it could be an interesting read. There was no book when my younger cat was a 5 days kitten (a rescue), but videos helped me a lot.

I read John Darnielle's first book Wolf in White Van as I'm a huge fan of his band The Mountain Goats. I still have mixed feelings about that book but I would love for you to read it and give your thoughts. It had a very interesting topic but I think the writing wasn't as good as I had hoped. (He is an amazing lyricist). I haven't read either of his other books... yet... Wolf in White Van still kind of haunts me.

Oh my gosh I LOVE Ella Enchanted the book! I never reread books but when I read that when I was younger I immediately read it again and then I know I’ve read it at least once more since then. I was sooooo excited for the movie and…. The movie almost completely ignored the book. Worst. Adaptation. EVER. And yes I’ll be salty about that the rest of my life. I really hope you enjoy the book- just try to keep the movie out of your mind and go in expecting completely different vibes.

My list always grows when I watch one of your videos. I am excited that Apple TV will soon be airing a TV series based on Hugh Howey's Silo trilogy which I had recommended to you as a good dystopian series (you had read a couple sections of the 1st book, Wool, but had not continued it). • @sophiegaladheon8283

I love The Goblin Emperor! It's still a standalone, you don't need to read the other books. The Witness for the Dead follows one side character from The Goblin Emperor and while it connects to the first book it isn't a necessary addition. I would recommend reading The Goblin Emperor first, even though you probably could read The Witness for the Dead on its own it would spoil the first one and the worldbuilding would make more sense with the added context.
I really enjoyed The Helm of Midnight, the magic system is super cool. The sequel just came out and I'm excited to read it.

I've heard about the one about human skin! You'll have to tell me how it goes

would really be interested in your thoughts about her majesty's royal coven! i found it a little problematic in how the author chose to represent certain characters but i feel as though maybe i didn't read it at the right time and was super cynical haha. a fabulous haul emily!!! xx

What's the most recent book you've added to your shelf?

Our library had its used book sale this past Friday and I found The Sparrow for 50¢! I also got a book called Tantric Coconuts, which just makes me giggle. My daughter made out like a bandit, too! Lots of kids graphic novels!

Not to my physical shelf but to my virtual one. Thanks to your recommendation I bought „to be taught if fortunate“. I’m not so much into sci-fi but every time you talk about Becky chambers the books sound so good so I have to try it 😊

My library just added The London Seance Society and What Have We Done yesterday. I was surprised that I am the first person to check them out. I also borrowed A Day of Fallen Night. No idea if I will like any of them. I like to grab random books off the new shelves.
