Its called insurance... Customers are funny. They never offer more money when it snows every day but when there's no snow they're the first to remind you every chance they get. Snow or no snow, the bills still come. Keep up the good work.

Mother Nature is in charge of the the weather. 😁Those courtesy cleanups will also have the potential to create the expectation that you will always show up well below the set trigger amount.

Good point with the courtesy services…while the intention is honourable it can bite you in the rear down the road.

Stefano, you knocked that out of the park. I was right there with you on your responses.
There is one thing I noticed in my area… which is likely applicable there.
Your company and mine (service around the clock) and can roll out 3 times or more in 24hrs. But almost always I see us out before the plow trucks. And on days with sustained snowfalls we are on our second round while the trucks have done their first. Sometimes it looks like “they are ahead of us” I make sure to point out the disparity/differences between the two types of services, so they understand and see it themselves.
The city plows were my biggest obstacle to a fast “full” clean up. There were multiple snow events where the city plows waited 10-12 hrs to even make rounds. Leaving the snow all day.
    Some crazy events this year.
So just like you (Im off on a tangent) I like to remind everyone we service around the clock, so you always can leave or get emergency services should you need them (even in the middle of the night)

This happened 10 years ago here in Laval,QC. We had an El Nino year and went out 6 times that year and in March we got up to 29 degrees for a few days. This year we went out 7 times but last year we went to the limit of our contract at 246cms out of 250cms. so it balanced out. Tell your customers to think of it as Snow Insurance. It snows , we come.No Refunds just like your auto insurance, Or your taxes for City snow removal who also saved a ton this year.Be happy or buy a shovel at CT, They have them cheap.

Stephan, You remind me of me. I started working for myself at 20years old as a mobile gas pipe welder. I’m now 63 running a very successful gas pipe installation inspecting business and it was all based on the integrity I practiced for 40 years. Nice job man, keep up the good work. You’ve definitely got the right business attitude.
Pls let us know where you get the jacket you always wear, thnks

Great video! Do you worry about the calls during a heavy snow year: "You came out last year when there was only 3cm, why aren't you here now?"

It’s been quiet here on the east coast. We had a 4 day, 64 cms storm, numerous 5-10 cms events, and some 2-5 cms ones. Sometimes we went when it wasn’t necessary, but did to be seen. In 30 yrs of snow removal, I’ve only had a handful of customers say something about a slack winter, even asked for a refund. But I do tell them you have to look at snow removal like insurance, and I ask them if you don’t get into an accident this year, does your insurance company issue a refund!!!!
    Keep the vids coming.

I'm going through the exact same thing here in New Brunswick
10 snow events, 7 being 5cm or more.
The expenses don't change and likewise everyone thinks I won the lottery!
I agree 100%. I make the comparison to insurance all the time, and I'd say 90% understand, but there's always that 10% who don't understand we run a business, not just a hobby.

Biggest issue in the future is going to be, if we get more extremely light winters..
People won't sign up for contract snow anymore.. they'll go with guys who charge per time..
That's what guys further south are running into

Hey man, our weather out here in BC was even lighter than yours. We were out 15 times to service our clients and I've heard the same comments like " I guess you've just been at home counting my money ". If it snows 30 times next year I will be prepared with some comebacks. Kidding of course. It was our first year for snow service so we just did walk-behind blowers, I do love your Kubota L6060 but which unit would you recommend for a small-town guy? When you bought your first tractor, did you go all out or start with something a little less money?

Risk and return are commensurate. You are running a business - not a charity. You don't need to be apologetic for the weather. Your team serviced the customers well when needed, which is why they pay Northern Snow.

Couldve cut cost and racked in money for one year then rehired the next year. Really shit practice big business do. People need to respect the fact that you didnt do it that way and you have set up your business to not need to do that

youve gotten more snow then weve gotten in northern bc, what youve got is what we get 1/4 of winter and youve gotten more lol its beyond messed up but i wont get into the dark world of things 😂 but you haven’t gotten this far this young and not been smart bout business
