On the contrary most people know that and it's been discussed in pubs and been a quiz question for years. People fucking knew it after Gladiator came out in 2000 or whatever and "that's the going for gold man" Whenever anyone says "Not many people realise" it's a thick bastard who's just learned it years after everyone else, but feels the need to know something Sit in the corner. One of my mates (hope he’s reading this😂) was unemployed during “the second summer of love 1991” he had watched every episode of going for Gold that year, then all of a sudden he was offered a job at a place called true cut leathers in Leicester where his mum and brother already worked, not the best offer but he needed some money so he took it, he was genuinely gutted that the start date was on the same day as the final and he missed it 😂😂😂😂

The only themes we get now for game shows, is dark edgy tension music, which for me takes away the excitement of what it means to win prizes, just makes me feel annoyed, Back in the day winning money was fun, NOT scary.
I loved this show! The theme was written by Hans Zimmer and Sandy McLelland. Here's Sandy in action when he was in session on my show th-cam.com/video/YgZGTkQ3MvE/w-d-xo.html
@@peterainsworth8026 are you having a laugh? Non UK or Irish winners made the majority of champions and you still claim bias? Perhaps to fit your definition of bias we should give everyone in the olympics a gold medal so we don't show bias to the ones who win.

Co-wrote it, strictly speaking.

Some of those are in the same league, but not all.
Written by Hans Zimmer no less!
Hans Zimmer: _"‘Going for Gold? I’m not ashamed of it! It paid the rent..."_
He invented the frame too

This brings back childhood sick days
Peter Diggory Donaldson sent me here
Stuck in my fuckin head

Has he got a jingle for that?
All we need is a little more getting it right
This was prime bunk off school viewing so relieved that Henry Kelly is still alive I genuinely thought he died in the 2000’s
Henry Kelly is 74 now in April 2020
My dad used to be a taxi driver and picked Henry Kelly up. Apparently HK was a really nice guy and he gave my dad a £5 tip.
hahahahaha 'bunk off school viewing' took me back
When you come home for Lunchtime Neighbours but end up jibbing the rest of the day
Deffo used to bunk off school to watch it. It used to be on morning then afternoon
The 80s....
Going for Gold

Knightmare
Every Second Counts
Play Your Cards Right
Bob's Full House

The Price Is Right
Big Break
Catchphrase with Roy Walker
Blankety Blank

Thought big break was the 90s
This is like an anthem for the 80's. What a decade. I miss it
you can watch it on you tube.
Only reason why I miss the 80s is because there wasn't so many foreigners then lol 😆
Boy the memories of this with Henry Kelly’s awesome Irish accent and memorable phrases such as What am I or Who am I and the 1St round proper 😂
I think you mean, going for glold.
FOOTBALL RAMBLE
past you is really going to enjoy today's episode
Yup. Stuck in my head
This should’ve been someone’s Eurovision Song Contest entry
They should've used it in the opening ceremony at the London Olympics a few years back.
The British National Anthem for being off school sick 😂🫡
After good morning with Ann and Nick 😂
😆
*I’m a high level sportsman and listen to this song before I complete. I’m not joking, it really fires me up.*
Surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre! 😜
Hans Zimmer hits the spot.
To think that Hans Zimmer created his is intriguing
He says he's extremely proud of it as it paid his rent for a while when he was 1st starting out.
It's such a great tuuuuuune!!
Why is this so absurdly epic? It's just a game show!
+Kousaburo Because it was written by Hans Zimmer. THE Hans Zimmer.
KlyeTan also made the frame
It’s more than just a game show
Because this is how it used to be when TV at least for me was done right. Not like now.
@@sjsharp2007 today's TV is terrible

That’s a classic 😂
Brings back happy memories, they don’t make theme tunes like that anymore

Winner! Jim Cam-bell!
Love the full tune and the tv edit

For me it has to be Mysterious Cities Of Gold.

Anyone listen to this at least once a year?
Listening to this on New Year's Eve ... Rock N Roll!
sounds like a rocky training montage
Jack Klugman aka Quincy MD was on a special celebrity edition of this !
Simply the best gameshow ever produced!
this gameshow wasnt produced by humans!.....it was a gift from God Almighty above!
Glold
Wow impressive theme for a game show.
I love you, I've been looking for this for quite some time.
I used to think it was - cause people are crying and everyone's dying.
Hahaha
It does say “only the best survive”
Ha! I used to think it was people are dying and everyone's crying
Your interpretation makes more sense mind
Lol
Lolololol
why isn't this show on the challenge channel. Lets start a petition, unless it is but I've never seen it
It was on Challenge about 10 years ago. Ratings weren’t high enough to justify the cost of them buying more episodes or renewing the licensing.
Now my ring tone LOL
Omg I didn't realise there was a version that's this long - when would they ever have used it?
"As far as we know, it was only heard once, during a clips compilation in the first semi-final of series 1." according to www.ukgameshows.com/ukgs/Going_for_Gold
You'll find this is the case for most, if not all British theme tunes. Even kids ones like Raggy Dolls and Family Ness had full on extended versions.
What a tune
funeral song sorted.
Forza Ramble!!!!
Only the best
*SURVIVE.*
Loved watching this!!
Play or pass? 😀
Oh god.. if I heard this, it was because I was either legit ill and couldn't go to school or just bunking off..
This my alarm clock music. I've grown to hate my alarm clock music *smashes alarm clock*
The man who composed the Disney film, The Lion King.
Sounds better around Olympic season
Apparently, Hans Zimmer wrote this.
He did, in his own words "It paid for the rent"!
I wish they'd bring back some of these descent TV Quizzes!! To much Reality Shite on TV! 🙄

Going for unfairness more like lol. The UK and Irish contestants had a huge language advantage.
