practicing form shots with one hand has to be the best thing i ever found out about, just standing between the free throw shot and the paint, shooting shots with one hand(your main hand of course) has helped me so much, easily became the best shooter out of like 30 other kids in my team
@@rrogers2370yeah and he had back to back injuries just bad luck and bad timing now I think he’s washed for the mavs 😢 but if he turns into game 6 Klay this year in the playoffs that will be good enough for me and if he wins a ring 💍 I’ll be happy for him 😎
Oh Goodness, I wish he was playing again. We need him so bad. *Edit* (This comment made more sense when my TH-cam name was Steph Curry... now I've changed it.)
I LOVE THIS VIDEO I LOVE LEARNING FROM KLAY!! I watched the video on how to shoot like him and I've gotten much better for my shot and this is helping now
But the truth is that you should shoot with air through there because it helps with your form. Steps shoots with air through there sometimes but not all the time. Steph's shooting form is so one motion that even if he shoots with air through there, he still banks the shot. Have common sense guys, not for likes.
Worth listening! A great example of a great tutorial! Gonna do this from now on in my practice until I condition my muscle memory. Thanks klay, your such a money in the bank splash everything out there!
This guy has a lot of potential, with some hard work and training, I like his chances to be a KEY bench player, maybe even slipping into the starting lineup. His shooting reminds me a lot of Shawn Marion.
The "Reverse Waterfall" is also called "Reaching into the cookie jar". That's what a coach taught me 40 years ago. Also, the one hand shooting from 3-4 feet away from the front of the rim reinforces the cookie jar motion. Another thing to do is lay on your back, put the ball into your hand on your side up at your shoulder, and practice the motion of "pushing" the ball up straight with a final flick of the hand/wrist. Catch it and repeat. It works to improve your dominate hand with the correct motion and hand position on the ball. But the over all key is to use your whole body in one smooth motion to "reach into the cookie jar" on the shot. Practice that until it is pure muscle memory.
We were taught, get your hands in the cookie jar, Meant get up on your man, and keep your hands, reaching in, mainly on guys we knew, didn't have great handles, especially when someone is on them tight. As soon as they went to dribble, we had hand's in the cookie jar. I coached later, taught same thing. It looked like 96 Kentucky team defense, we'd wear you out. Look up Jamal mashburn talking about wanting to leave Kentucky, in his first couple weeks. All they did was run, no basketballs, running. Then when they were exhausted, they would start practicing. That's the way we played, I had guys that couldn't shoot a lick, but could shut down a guy on d. As my subs. Small team, but we'd wear them out. Pressure from tip to finish. Even there coach looked tired. Pressure.
I always get discouraged when I’m inconsistent I need to learn to keep my shot and learn from it to develop it’ll only make me better restarting too often and making shots but later missing is worse than developing a shot that works for me and be consistent. You don’t always have to be, but it’s much better that way. *2019 btw*
What he said along with ARC is the most important aspect in shooting. The basket is bigger when the ball is coming straight down verses coming in Flat.
I live in the UK and I use to go to a basketball club run by an American called Jimmy. He was a short white guy in his 60s . Strong and fit 💪, would play full court with us teenagers for hours . Ran this club for no profit, just the love of the game and the love of coaching. He told me the same thing about shooting. Starts in your toes finishers with your fingers
SpencerTheBoy thats basically saying that if you like lebron but not his team you're a bandwagon. just because you like one player but not the player's team doesnt mean you're a bandwagon. a bandwagon means that for example your favorite team loses, and that team who won you're a fan of them now
For me, I found out that by rolling the ball over my index finger and middle finger the shoot becomes more precise. Important is that the hand is stable and the ball doesn't roll out your hand over your ring finger and pinky.
this is great. a perfect example of how we have been teaching shooting for decades. The problem is, what he says, and what he does isnt the same thing. Klay is not a one motion shooter, he also dips the ball, and turns his feet. yet here, he shows no dip, and ten toes at the rim klay is one of the best shooters of all time. But this is not an example of next level coaching if youre young and watching this. search for pro shot shooting system, they will explain what I mean. And it will make sense
