I’m going with the compact flash mod! A lot easier. I just bought a 4th gen 60gb version popped it open and it has a new battery so that’s a win. Great video my man!
I'd like to echo one of the other comments... what did you do to get your M1 MacBook air to recognize/connect? It seems extremely finicky. Thanks for your awesome video.
The next generation of iPods are easier to upgrade and open up they aren't as flimsy inside and can be upgraded to 256gb and more if its the 80gb model
Oh man I just did this with my iPod 4g as well! ended up using the ATA1 flash adapter instead, which didn't require the additional adapter that you showed. It's amazing how fast it is now, and I can finally load my entire lossless music library onto it! How did you get the battery to stay down? I ended up having to reopen the iPod and put electrical tape across it as the battery kept rattling around in there. Was my battery replacement just the wrong size to fit?
It might be? The battery I got was the exact same size as the old one and I had trouble getting it and the cable to fit properly. But hey, as long as yours works right?

Honestly, it was just a lot of unplugging and plugging it back in. I promise to do a short video showing the process!
Do you have ptoblems trying to sych it with apple music?
It won’t sync with Apple Music, you have to load your own mp3s. Hope that answers your question!

I found that I had to put my 4th gen into disk mode for my M1 MacBook (Ventura MacOS) to recognise it.
