A few inaccuracies here: -Neck isn’t a Japanese neck but from DGs cream strat which was a v57 1984 Fullerton, just like his red strat - the mark behind the bridge isn’t from a synth pick up but from the kahler bridge he’d installed in the 80s
I literally am getting this same relic guitar probably in a few weeks from now. Sadly, it was my Dads.. I'd never sell it, I'm a huge David Gilmour fan and play guitar daily. My guess re the Squire is it's a Tele Deluxe. I'd bought mine for its looks. Bright purple sparkles Mine was a lemon but once I'd put on Gotoh tuners and Tusk Nut/Saddles it became a beast and I still play it daily from my rack of 12 guitars. For fun I changed the inlay to block mother of pearl. It looks even more spanglier now!
I lusted after these guitars when they first came out.. Having been Gilmour fan since first hearing Animals and the Wall in 79. I got to play one at Mansons In Exeter ( signed by Gilmour....£2,700 new) I realised the neck was identical to my 83 Tokai Goldstar... So I bought the Loaded Scratchplate From Overdriver (Usa) et Voila gilmour for under 750 quid!
When I think of a Strat, one of the many Strat players, Gilmour immediately comes to mind. I am having my Luthier build me a Strat to some of Gilmour's specs. It is almost done, and can't wait till I can play it. I am not bashing any of the Relics Fender does, but I want it to my specifications as well. That Gilmour Strat sounds amazing though.
Is that the Martin Pryce Replica Guitar strap? I got one from Martin back in 2010 for my Black Strat. I never had the cash for either NOS Or Relic Custom Shop GIlmour Strats, so I built one from parts.
Nice overview. I've got a 2010 NOS DG Strat, which my wife very kindly bought new for me for my 50th birthday. They certainly are lovely guitars. The neck shape is just so comfortable to play. Mine certainly gets played, so it's got a few dings in it. The main reason I didn't get the relic version was so that I'd relic it myself. I agree that the short trem arm is an acquired taste, and I've never really got on with it. Just needs to be a little bit longer. I think the supplied arm was the shorter length of the two shortened arms DG used (but I may well be wrong).
I make my partscasters after my favorite custom shops. I mad this one with a Fender Classic Player body and roasted maple neck, also Blackmore and Trower. Its fun and much less cost wise.
Lovely tribute instrument and sounds (well done)! 👍 After all, how could anything Gilmour inspire anything less than excellent when it comes to guitars?!? Now, if we were talking hairstyles or 80s trousers... 😉😉😉 Jokes aside, James, I'll ask this again here: curious about your Tannoy Ellipses back there. 8s or 10s? The regular version or the later, digitally enhanced one? With sub? Like them?
I have my fave which I the MIM FSR. Really just needs pickups and it's ready. The ceramics are ok but I want to add the final touches with the Gilmour set. Maybe even do the emg that way it's a mesh of the red and black. I admire DG.
I always laugh when people don't do their homework about their own guitars, and the guitar it supposed to mimic... The neck on the Black Strat is an 1983, Fullerton made 57 reissue, the hole on the bridge filled up with wood was for the Kahler tremolo David installed in the 80's, and then removed and filled up after he got the start back from the Hard Rock cafe... There was no "synth pickup"... The CS guitar has the bloody Black Strat book in the case FFS... you can always read it...
James, I'm really confused. All of this time you had us tricked into thinking that you were a drummer. Does this mean that Paul has to play drums in the next video. Also, after watching this video I'm starting to have sellers remorse about having sold my Eleven Rack
Amazing James!!. We don’t see you playing enough guitar 🎸🎸🎸
Agree
not bad for a drummer :-)

Thanks for the info
This reminds me of ‘Trigger’s Broom’ in Only Fools and Horses. 🤣🤣🤣🎸🤘
How many necks has it had, and how many bodies plus electrics?

Always good to hear!!
Nice sounding guitar and cool playing, what kind of Seymour Duncan is that on the bridge?
On the loose trem arm, I've just got a replacement Fender US trem arm with the standard US 10-32 thread and that fits the block perfectly.
Nice playing James.
Awesome video guys!!! How can I get those D.Gilmour presents for the Eleven Rack? Amazing. 👏👏
I'll see what I can do about putting them on the site for download. Do hold! (JI)
@@TheStudioRats awesome thanks 🙏🏻

2:55 I think that is a kahler tremolo bridge which is modified in 1984 around that time in about face
You really should make your Eleven Rack presets available. Do you use an IR with it and do you ever use it on gigs?
Gilmour and Squier are the two hardest names for guitarists to spell correctly
Don't you mean Gilmore and Squire?
Lovely tribute instrument and sounds (well done)!

Jim Isray, owner of Indianaoplis Colts owns the black strat now, and it gets played regularly
beautiful guitar. great playing. just wondering what you were you playing through? your tones were spot on.
All the guitar tones are from my 11 Rack.... All patched created by me.
Like to hear some Clapton on a David Gilmour Strat!
Veeeery nice!!
Kurt's MTV unplugged Martin acoustic went for $6million in 2020.

Is it too late to correct the misspelling of Gilmore to Gilmour?
done
James has more tone in his drummers fingers than Paul the other guitarist on this show : )
He plays a mean sax as well

Trust me, the last thing you want to hear is me playing drums!
