- On this date Captain. Rosado of Truck company 1 was acting Chief for one week. Throughout the duration of that one week period Brentwood FD was brought to a residential Structure fire on Kirk road. Capt. Rosado was the first unit on scene transmitting the working fire. Units arrived on scene and were put to work.
And folks this is how you burn down a house.
Worst fire department ever. Lines charged and no water on the fire. So many firemen with no leadership. First man on could have put fire out with a garden hose.
30 Minutes and the fire is still burning!
That first firefighter on scene should have closed the front door. It would have slowed the spread of the fire.
Totally agree, basic 'firemanship'..............................can I say that, as it's not politically correct ?🤔🤔🤔
You can see how fast the fire moved with the door open and a firefighter just looked at it.
An absolute disgrace of Firefighting!
that would have made to much sense
Door control = flow control
Chief, thanks for closing the door and opening the front gate for us. We really appreciate it brah
For God’s sake, put some freaking water on it!
This crew was attacking the fire about 90 seconds after the Engine arrived… So what are you talking about?
@@Cairns-880 A Big city fire dept would have had that fire out by now.. they need more training PERIOD!!
Can I ask a question???? Why weren’t 3 lines in operation??? Both sides and front coverage…I mean my intentions would be get the flames out immediately
I do not armchair often, but this…was an absolute disgrace of Firefighting. If I was the homeowner, I would want answers as to why, 1. Why was the Heavy Rescue 1st due and not an engine company. 2. Absolutely no reason for 8 FF’s on the front step entryway. I guess these guys needed to cook their helmets. 3. At one point there were 17 FF’s standing in the front yard, watching the house burn. 4. 2.5 should have been the first line put into service, not a 1.34.
Yep you summed it up very well.
You took the words out of my mouth.
YEEEEEAHHHHHH, way too many “Lawn Jockey’s”!
Deck gun
first of all if you don't live in Suffolk County NY then don't comment on things you don't know about this situation. It's all Volunteer in Suffolk County. This particular Fire Department is the busiest Volunteer Fire Department in the Country. Since when is it procedure for Engine Company to be first due? Did it ever occur to you that on the Heavy Rescue were fire fighters from a substation and an engine crewing up at HQ? What's wrong with 8 Firefighters on the front step entry? Those 17 firefighters were mutual aid departments and they're O/S awaiting their assignments from Command. How do you know definitively it was 1-3/4" and not a 2" or 2.5"?
18:50. At least 20 firefighters in the yard and still no water on the fire through the roof
Cause the house is 900 sq ft big don’t need 100 guys in a small house
@@user-dv9wh8eb4g I agree with that if i saw someone putting out the flames on the upper floor. But i don't! It's heavy flames and they are just watching.
After all that was said and (not) done, this house was nothing but a charred ruin. I actually began to think that this was a controlled-burn exercise by the fire department.
First unit on site, the rescue truck. Not having seen it, I never would have believed it.
Why not?
@@Cairns-880 You would prefer a Heavy Rescue, instead of a fire suppression engine company to arrive first?
I hate being that “Monday morning quarterback” but if this is a buff page.. just showing the slow response & lack of work being done by personnel on scene .. I would not even upload it. It only brings a bad name to the department. I’m sure that they are a good department with a bunch of good guys. Yet this feels like I’m watching a snuff video for the vollies.
What are you even talking about?
Absolute the worst foundation-saving nonsense! This was painful to watch. In the two years since this occurred, I sincerely hope retraining has been intense. I realize they're vollies, but, this was brutal incompetence.
Considering the taxes that Suffolk County residents pay,, they certainly deserve better fire protection.
100%!
It’s 100% volunteer. You should get involved.
@@kevinobrien2531 That doesn't diminish the (TRUTHFUL) comment.
@@matthewsims4457 always could be better. And he should have closed the front door.
Why is nobody attacking the fire from the outside ? I'm not a firefighter but I see a lot of mistakes in this video , again with most fire videos too many firemen standing around when there is work to be done , this fire was left to get out of control
Before attacking a fire from the outside, which actually pushes the fire back into the building, if possible you want to make an interior attack.
What are you talking about? That was literally the first thing these guys did about 90 seconds after the Engine arrived.
57 firefighters standing in the yard and only 2 hoses , this fire should have been out in less than 10 minutes tops. It's a joke !
Thats what you call "The flood and stamp brigade" If they dont have enough water to put it out, they have enough men to stamp it out.
they were all chanting burn baby burn...but they all had window breakers....
OH MY LORD...50 firefighters and they can't put out a shed fire??
Standing around with your hands in your pockets no bunker pants on. CLOSE THE FRONT Door. What would happen if there was a rescue needed?
That ladder on the D side is not going to pass inspection. All around poor job. No reason why they could not have hit the fire from the outside to knock it down before they advanced inside. Nothing worse than seeing a Chief Officer standing out front useless waiting for his equipment to arrive.
This is a what not to do reel.
Yep especially the power lines
How so?
I thought at first it was a training session however as it progresses the acting chief was in over his head and displayed it with lack of leadership as personal and equipment arival on scene there was confusion among the rank and failed to reali on his junior camade to assist with organization and deployment of asset's at his disposal
I rarely arm chair quarter back, but Looks like a cluster f@#k to me!
same here
How so?
With that many firefighters on scene all they had to do was give each of them a glass of water , nature would take over from there and with 57 guys going all at once the fire would have been out almost immediately .
Surely that was a training fire.
had two pumpers on scene 15 men standing around doing nothing what good was the rescue truck carried no water opinion poor performance for a cottage fire
one guy yelled who has the marshmallows...
Nice to see they have bodies filling the gear, unfortunately they are only posing in the front yard…
Did they have enough guys standing on the deck out front? What a disaster of a firefighting operation. 5 mins in and they’ve succeeded in getting only two lines going? Why do they need 85 guys standing in the front yard leaning on pike poles?
The first line was working about 90 seconds after arrival and the second about 30 seconds later.
Where was this fire? City and State
this is disgraceful the fire dept. could have done better than standing around and let the building burn
With all the man power, why not morel hoses on the fire.
Fire dept needs more training
this is just sad to watch
Everyone out of the building please 😂. No tones, no dispatch announcements, no horns or even par.
Horns were sounded.
Firefighting 101 - Close the front door.
Holy crap that's what you call standing around being lazy. At least pretend you're doing something
No evac until 20+ minutes?? They're doing too much work! 🔥🚒🚒🚒🔥
This why volunteer fire depts have automatic mutual aid structure fires
craziest shit I've ever seen
First engine should’ve hit it with the deck gun using tank water. Those rescue guys should’ve established a water supply rather than walking around with pike poles - the hydrant was two houses down from the fire bldg. Rescue should have a hydrant bag to make sure the closest hydrant was ready when the first engine arrived.
I admit I use the MASTER BLASTER as often as possible I am noit sure if I would have used it here. I think I would have stretched a 2.5 attack line and hit it with that and backed it up with a 1.75 but then again I was not on scene. I also have to admit that the Deck Gun is one of the most under utilized pieces of fire attack equiptment and I think so me has to do with being afraid of the guns power. Ideally you could not for better circumstances with a plug 2 houses away and steady water supply but.... AND I agree that the rescue should have had the hydrant ready for use but their function is different in every department and district.
Some areas have the rescue first due while others will have a truck without a booster tank. I was on a department where our main attack unit was a hose tender with 275 gallon booster tank in an area with no hydrants.
Has nothing do taxes people volunteer fire dept these firefighters work just hard paid staff
Good job brother
Love the comments 😅, house is 900 sq feet, don’t need 100 guys going inside, the fire was well advanced no knows if the stairway was brunt away, they made a aggressive attack on the frist floor, but no need to get crazy or hurt on the second floor.
Is it still burning, lol?? The poor owners..
This is hard to watch. What a sad fire department. 💩
Oh my. Such a cute little property. What a shame.
Oh yeah, “chief” Ret, when you go on your next fire call, make sure the rescue waits at the front of the neighborhood for 3 minutes before the engine company gets there. I mean not like there could be possible entrapment or anything which is what the rescue specializes in.
Why didn't the first on scene close the front door after confirming no one was inside. Leaving the door open accelerated the size of the fire due to the chimney effect.
I must agree with the other commenters. The house looked gone by the time the first piece that carries hose and water AOS. Curious if Brentwood is a career or volunteer company.
.
Volunteer, Suffolk County Long Island NY.
Volunteer or not both sides of the fire service need to be better than this!😂 Sad to see no other hand lines hitting the fire from the outside if the interior crew was in the basement if I heard that right.
House was gone because the captain just left the front door open instead of closing it to control the fires flow path.
@@kerryshambach2220imagine if the guys voted a no confidence on him after this
House already fully involved
Is this a paid fd?
Never saw soooo many guys just standing there, must volunteer fire department
are they going to let it burn down
No water on the roof???
Why no deck gun on the top floor?
Oh there's a DeckGun Doofus right on cue 🤣
Every fire department have different Protocols of operation. But to me they're too slow Kodaline off the truck knocked the fire down from the outside and then went in and mopped up. Norma we hook up to the second and do fire truck for more water. Why someone else is working on establishing a permanent water supply we are County department so all our fire trucks have 2000 gallons of water or more.
Why such little effort to put out the fire ?
overkill and no water wtf are they doing
training house. foam would have kicked the god of fire ass llonge bebfore.
No plan at all lots of resources and no direction first and for most put WATER on the fire.
They had water on it about 90 seconds after the Engines arrived.
I saw either a dog or a person in the front window. In the beginning.
Well the door was open.
Wow piss poor firefighting right here smh
Going flash
Probably going to need a new extension ladder.
First truck pulls up now water
Screw the attic! Lets get our lines into the basement!!
After that comment, RetLtFF43, I’m surprised they didn’t have you as their chief😒😒
That must be an older house made of real wood. Today's construction would have burned to the ground by now.
too late for the ladder guys
The USA fire department is sad so disorganized in all aspects of fire fighting 😮
Needed a better IAP for this incident.
those idiots no water from the outside yet
Hole lot of people not doing anything. But I guess it is to late to save it.
Theres a joke in this somewhere...how many firefighters does it take to put out a small cottage fire..4...and another 30 just standing around watching
Nice work men; good shot, be safe!!
You obviously didn't see the same video I did. You are a 'Rah rah, fire department apologist/cheerleader.'
These fire fighters are awful.
Always so much easier sitting in the armchair complaining what was not done and what should have been done. For all of those who complained this is a volunteer department so feel free to head on down and join up. Does not have to be this department, almost every volunteer department is having staffing problems so head down to your local station and join up. Then post a video of how much better you made things for your local department.
This is like a 2 car detatched garage fire we had. The neighbor went on the whole time we got on scene how he could knock it diown with a greenline. The owner of the garage told us to let him try and that is what he did. Using a 1/2" greenline he finally admitted he failed, then went on how he could do it with out trash line so we handed him the 1" booster line and again he went down in flames. Finally shutting his mouth his neighbor and garage owner told him that he had a permit to destroy the garage and was allowing the departmebt to have some of the newer guys gain a little hose time and experience.
Seems like everyone knows how to put out a fire better than the next even without an of training. If you feel it is being done wrong hit up the local deaprtment, go thru FF1, FF2 and Officer training and let us see you make the difference. I have done my 45+ years and retired from career and now only do volly department but funny thing is that few of the younger generation cAres about volunteering for their cities and towns but when those taxes take a huge hit because they have to start paying career guys to sit around waiting for a call it is always more complaints.
The basement, the basement, the basement! WHAT ABOUT THE ATTIC?? WHAT ABOUT THE TWO WINDOWS AT THE ENDS OF THE HOUSE BURNING UNCONTROLLABLY??
Embarrassing command and execution.
How so...?
@@virgilhilts3924 This is a clusterfluff. Hydrants are identified but not assigned: the first engine goes right past the hydrant "two houses down", and they have to hand jack hose back to it. Takes two minutes to get an attack line in operation, and another minute to get the hydrant line charged while several FF's are standing around. Twenty minutes into the first engine being on scene and the house is still on fire: dozens of FF's standing around.
@@SpartacusColo
"This is a clusterfluff"
-Says the person who has clearly never been a firefighter and knows nothing about firefighting
"Hydrants are identified but not assigned"
-Why would they be when:
a) An LDH can easily be handjacked
b) You have no idea what unit will arrive in what order as these are all VFD's
"the first engine goes right past the hydrant"
-As would the vast majority of FD's because stopping would delay first water
-That is literally the whole point of having on-board water... to start an attack while supply is obtained
"and they have to hand jack hose back to it"
-So what?
-It is literally done every day across the nation
-There were plenty of FF's available to do so as the first attack line was stretched and put into service
-As opposed to needlessly stopping and delaying first water
"Takes two minutes to get an attack line in operation"
-It was almost exactly 90 second
-Pretty typical to pack up, stretch, charge, and attack
"and another minute to get the hydrant line charged"
-Meaning there was no delay in attacking the fire... derp
"while several FF's are standing around"
-A blessing as most VFD's cannot get enough members to join let alone show up and work a job
-I started my professional FF career in 1980 and cannot think of a single incident where I ever thought to myself: "Gee, I wish I had less people on this job"
@@virgilhilts3924 Twenty minutes into the first engine on scene and the house is still on fire.
@@virgilhilts3924 Cap is just leaning on the fence, watching the house burn and assuming that all his guys are just going to "figure it out" when they get there.
Congratulations, you saved the front porch. What’s up with these modern day firefighters anymore? You can have a sense of urgency AND still do the job safely. It used to be that we tried saving at least something other than the foundation.
Just like some areas in PA where saving the foundation is number 1 priority..
heavey foam attack open up the foam./
This is video is embarrassing
Its standing room only in the front yard.
I am not at the scene so I don't know the situation, but I figured out real quick how this fire was going to go when he said , you have a hydrant two houses away, Capt. Ask is that what direction and command goes it's on the same side as the house. Good grief!
WET STUFF ON THE RED STUFF. Works ohhhhh about 100% of the time!
Why hump hose to the hydrant? Stop at the hydrant and lay line in.
"Lay in" a lousy 110 feet? 😆😅😂🤣
The hydrant was literally one house away
@@virgilhilts3924 LMFAO👍👍 You're here, too! Now I have to weed through 140 comments. It'll be worth it 😂
Where's all the fire department apologists and cheerleaders???
What the hell ???? Watch this home burn ???
This fire department is a joke
Η κατάσβεση φωτιάς πρέπει να γίνεται γρήγορα
How am I 20 minutes into this video and the house is still fully involved? What a shit-show. I've been a fire photographer for many years, this is some of the worst I've ever seen. I've seen an engine with 3 hung over volunteers put out bigger fires faster than this. There's so many firefighters in the front yard just standing there... might as well break out hot dogs and cornhole boards. Disgraceful.
Well except for the fact it was never "fully involved"... Oops
In my 45+ years I have never had the experience to see any officer close any door to a burning sturcture. Not saying it is right or wrong but I have never seen it happen.
My constant all-time favorite more than two room showing and we keep driving past the hydrants. Call me old school, but this new generation of tank water is BS unless it’s a small room.
If your second due is close enough in arrival time to lay-in then having the 1st due engine start immediately with tank water is not an issue. This requires that the crews actually know how long their tank will last when flowing each line. Which is not a strength of a lot of departments now.
It is when morons decide to ALWAYS have the 1st due not lay-in that shitshows happen. So outside of a higher density area the 1st due is going to be better off laying in if there is more than just a minor fire.
abusing the privlage of being stupid
Usless fire department
Brentwood, New York?
What a disaster
How so...?
Someone lost their home, along with everything else they own. When some poor family loses everything they've spent their entire lives working for, I'd say that would qualify as a disaster.
Must have misplaced the nozzles for marshmallows
Amateur hour, hacks
total loss. I'm glad i live around the corner from 3 fire companies and 2 ladder trucks
Once again the TH-cam Couch Captain wannabe's show up to blow their holes about things they know nothing about
For a pleasant change of pace I only saw a couple of DeckGun doofuses
WHY would someone who likes this FD post this? Terrible showing!
