    Young man, please make a career from your Service. I’m a 32 year retired E-9 aircraft maintenance. Truly enjoyed all my deployments and growing up with everyone. Deployments are great growing experience. Y’all stay safe and God Bless for serving. I’m 65 and would do it all over again. Go Air Force……

      Would you recommend your job? I was originally going to the army but my friends little brother recommended the Air Force so I’m trying get into avionic work

      Yes sir, Avionics is a great career field. Long schools but you learn a wealth of knowledge especially in today’s technology updated aircraft and drones. Whatever you choose, always do your best and you’ll make it. You seem pretty sharp, maybe look at an Officer career, Pilot. Good luck and safe days to you and your Unit.

    Have fun. I got a lot of school done while I was on deployments and got in some of the best shape of my life. Take advantage of the opportunities that you will not get stateside. I was enlisted aircrew, now a pilot. Did 6 years enlisted and commissioned through OTS in 2022. Keep up doing these videos.

    Man this takes me back a minute. Deployed life is something else and it definitively varies per location and leadership. I deployed 7 of my 8 years in the Air Force doing 6 in and 6 out. Missed a lot of birthdays and Anniversaries but gained a world of knowledge. We use to work 6 days 12 hrs shifts and that at times gets under your skin specially when the work is hard and you literally have to grind it out. The friendships you forge will last a lifetime. Love the positive mind set, dont let the deployment take it away. Seems like negativity surrounds most deployments I was involved. Keep at it brother and stay safe out there.

      Did you have to be deployed 7 of the 8?

    • @hiltsaber
      @hiltsaber 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@superdome8102 What I meant to say is that I deployed for 7 years of my 8 years in the military,. I was not away for 7 years. I was in a deployment for 6 months and then 6 months at my home base. I did that for 7 years.

    • @superdome8102
      @superdome8102 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is it normal to be deployed that many times?

    • @hiltsaber
      @hiltsaber 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@superdome8102 It all depends on your job. I was part of an unit that deployed a lot. That was my choosing. Honestly you can possibly do an AF without deploying, you just have to be in career fields that are less likely to deploy. I wanted to deploy so I got into a career field that deploys a lot.

On deployment I lived in a mud hut, on patrol every day, and didn't shower for months. No hot chow either. Of course I was an 0311 Rifleman. The AF seems real nice and to think I was initially looking at being a radio guy in the AF lol.

    I remember being stationed at Yokota during Christmas in 88' with the AF Band and missing my stateside wife and family.... so I grabbed three of my single squadron mates and we got clearance to go up and down the flightline to all the shops and play Christmas carols for all those taking duty that night. We ended the night by heading over to the NCO club at midnight for a little Silent Night... not a dry eye in the house... and boy did the beer flow in after that! lol Best Christmas I can remember. Cool Channel.....just subscribed......from Tampa.....Go Bucs!! I was an Air Force SP back in the day (1985-1997). I was at MacDill and was deployed to the first Gulf War (90-91). Amazing a lot hasn't changed ("Civis" and positioning shoes at the foot of the bed, Trailer bathrooms) and some things have (Taco Tuesdays). Question......can Airmen now grow Beards?

      Thanks for your service! To answer your questions: Airmen who are able to get a shaving waiver from medical can grow beards.

    That's dopeee. I watched your channel for a while but thought you were a 1d7(more cyber based).
    I have the same afsc. How is it?
    What can you compare it to on the Civilian side?
    Are you taking college classes? If so, what major, and how does it connect with your afsc?
    Any advice i need to know for tech school?

      Hey, so I am a 1D751R, or 1D751W with the new shreds. I've had a great time with it. Radio is lesser known, but a very interesting field. You'll do something different at almost every base you work at. It really shows its importance in deployed or tactical comm environments. On the civilian side, a lot of guys go to work on similar equipment as RF or SATCOM technicians/engineers with companies like Raytheon, Motorola and others. With our general IT knowledge, some guys get other IT certification or degrees and go to work in other IT fields as well.
      If you were thinking about a more cyber-based AFSC, you are probably thinking of 1B4, Cyber-warfare. I'm not sure how it is now, but it used to be a cross-train only field, meaning you couldn't enlist with that job. All 1D7 are related to Comm and maintaining Comm infrastructure in garrison or deployed.
      I am taking classes, studying Cybersecurity Technology. All 1D7 fields are currently merging, so taking classes such as Computer Troubleshooting, Network Fundamentals and Security, Linux, VMs and more have been very useful as I look to expand my overall IT knowledgebase outside of radio, as we all are preparing to do each other's job in the 1D7 field.
      For tech school, just take the time to learn the material. It's not super hard, as long as you take some of your own free time to study the material to fully understand the concepts. Things such as radio and SATCOM theory will really come in handy one you start working at your duty station. The labs are pretty fun as when, when you're troubleshooting "broken" equipment. Enjoy yourself out there. Tech school is a great time.
      Hope this all helps.
