    I’ve owned these for over a year and these have saved me many many times. It was my first big protection purchase I chose this over getting a 6D helmet. It’s weird at first but after 5 minutes of riding I forget they’re even on.

      Hey man do you know why 6D is not m2020 certified?

    Thank you for the information, I finally decided to contact my Dr. about getting braces and he wrote me a script no problem, cheaper than covering a knee repair. Getting my knee measured on Monday and will have my braces in 2 weeks. Unfortunately I my insurance provider would not allow me to purchase through Rocky Mountain but you guys rock and will keep getting my business.

      I'm glad we could help you out with that. Sucks you couldn't get them through us, but hey, it's the cards you were dealt. Are you getting the PODS or a custom set?

    Hey chase I have tech 10s and the boots are already kind of snug on my calves because I have big legs. Do these braces take up much room in the top of the boot just curious if I’d be able to run them.

    Recovering from acl reconstruction, 2 month left would you recommend these ?

      I used this brace for two seasons and they lasted very well and wer're comfortable. I been using the Asterisk Carbon Cells now for about 3 seasons and have been very happy with those. The only complaints I ever had about the PODs was how tall they were and too thick at the bottom around calf. I have big calves and the thinner a brace is for me, the better. - Chase

    Nice review mate how do I measure my legs before I order a pair thanks.🇬🇧Tim in the uk.

      Thanks! You will measure the width of your knee with your leg fully straight and while putting weight on it. There is a sizing guide on the product page that will show you how to do it: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/pod-mx-k8-2.0-knee-brace-pair-p
      Hope that helps!

    so if you’ve had knee injury before are these still worth it ?

    Is it worth saving buying k8 former model with big discount, or even k4, rather than buying k8 2.0 or you still think that k8 2.0 worth paying its full huge price?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the biggest differences between the K8 2.0 and the K4 is the K8 has 4 sizes vs 3 with the 4 which helps get a better fit without having to use more padded shims in the knee to get the fit right. For that reason, I would go with the K8 2.0 over the K4. But I never did ride in the old K8 so I can't speak too much about those. What I can say is I had my K8 2.0s for two seasons and they held up really well, probably one of the most durable braces made. - Chase

    Just got a pair and am having trouble sizing them up. Is there a video on how to put in the side pads properly and how it should sit on your leg and such? Thanks!

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Justin, I'm not aware of any video, but when you put the brace on, you want to be seated with your leg at about a 90 degree angle. When you put the brace on, you want the pads to basically be right down the middle. I like to have mine contacting my knee on each side. Be sure to put the straps on in the right order too. For strap number 1, I make sure it's plenty high at the bend of my leg and then I go to the other straps. As for the pads, you may just need to experiment with some different set ups to see what works best. If you reach out to my IG @chasers1085 and message me, I send you a pic of my brace on my leg when I get home today.-Chase

    Something that's 5x stronger than steel shouldn't have to be replaced that often. What causes it to get wore down? How do these compare to the leatt x since they're both doctor approved.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think just about any material, including steel will wear down when it is constantly flexing that much. Comparing them to the X frames, I'd say the pods are a little more low profile and lighter as well. I've had zero complaints with my PODs and would gladly get them again. I haven't ridden in the Xframe so it's hard to give a really good comparison.-Chase

    The only way to get insurance to cover it is after an injury, right?

      Talk to your doctor and insurance and see if they'll count it as preventative. I have friends who have done this.-Chase

    How do these compare to the DonJoy A22? I've heard that the DonJoy A22's are the best knee braces period, especially being custom fit over a generic fit. While they are an all around knee brace, you can put a specialty knee pad on them for frontal protection; I'm just no sure how they will do for Moto. I've been wearing the Fox Titan Pro knee pads for the last 3 or 4 years, and can't stand them. I am pretty sure that I have some ligament damage in both knees and am always concerned about them while I ride. I feel that I need to finally upgrade to knee braces to protect my knees from sustaining further damage. I would appreciate your input on this Chase.
    Thank you,

      I've never used the DonJoy braces so I can't give a comparison. Like you, I've heard really good things about them and it would be awesome if we could all have a custom fit brace. I'd talk to your doctor about DonJoy and see what he can do to get you into a pair. But I feel like i get a pretty dang good fit with the K8, better than with other braces that i've tried. The other brace I feel gives great fit are the Asterisk UltraCell. Yeah, it's not custom, but i haven't had any complaints. I feel like my knee is help in place well and I've really enjoyed them. DonJoy, from what i've heard a very pricey even with insurance so that could also be a big deciding factor. Let me know if you have more questions. Thanks-Chase

      I have the Donjoy A22 and have to say that it is a very good knee brace. If you look on the their website though, they're not rated for "high impact" stuff as I would classify riding motocross to be. Mine is custom fit and it does fit absolutely perfect. I do have the opportunity to have another prescription for knee braces written by my doctor to protect both knees so I am going to spring for these pod k8's and see which one is better. The big selling point about the POD and Asterisk is that they can be tethered to the boot. I tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus due to the twist during a fall so that is the big selling point. The A22 is more of a really really good athletic brace but Im not sure how it would fair during a MX crash which is why Im going to try these out and see how I feel since theyll be fully covered at this point. The Donjoy defiance would be the brace recommended by the company for MX and they are available to be custom fit.
