The hyper pop to alternative rock pipeline is weirdly consistent. You wouldn’t expect so many hyperpop stars to also be so good at making rock music but they always seem to knock it out of the park
Hyperpop can be a very complex genre, so I guess the musical knowledge required can translate pretty well to other genres.

it seems like second wave hyperpop artists (gecs-adjacent, as opposed to first wave being PC music) have like unanimously decided to transition into releasing rock albums this year. got 5 examples in mind and i’m sure there are more i’ve missed. digging it.

that nile show was insane, unforgettable set
I went to their concert with George clanton and it is such a cool experience seeing them in person. I plan on seeing them again soon with MSPaint (another amazing band). I honestly am not as in to this album as the others but I still like most songs. I really liked you got me by the tail and lethal the best.
I was absolutely jumping at my philly show for that tour, so excited for them to come back

I also saw them with George Clanton when they came through Boise! I was so happy they did. Never heard of them but I’m so glad I know them now. Love their sound so much

I really loved this album as it felt very campy and lovey dovey. Lethal got me in my feels as I could relate to the lyrics. Stare at the sun is the song that packs the most energy and lets the listeners know that they aren't parting from the sound of their last album as their are some similarities. Oats from a mug is a song that I fell in love with immediately upon listening as it was a fun, light hearted song that is catchy and gets your foot tapping along with it. Overall I'd give this album a solid 8. I first learned about this band as they toured with George Clanton and having never heard of them before I was blown away by their performance and became a fan. I highly recommend seeing them live as they put in a lot of work into their performance.

Which venue were you at? I saw them open for George in Seattle, I’ve been to a lot of shows of that size and they are probably the most fun and memorable openers I have seen..!
I wasn’t a big fan of this album while I do love the band, I agree with you that speed run was better and I saw them open for George as well. I hope they go back in that direction.
These guys performed at a tiny stage at my university winter 2022, and I've never looked back on enjoying them, but this is handily their best work and an amazing change of direction.

This album was insanely good for me, I loved the contrast from their last album. They could oscillate between this sound and speed run indefinitely, I would be satisfied.

l saw this band live with George Clanton, and they fucking killed it. Their live performance reminded me so much of the post hardcore stuff i listened to in high school. Still haven’t dived into their discography.

“Marigold” is the catchiest song I’ve heard this year , loving this band and this record!
That song has such a sweet sound to it.
All the nature bars are because they made the album in the Poconos. They made a documentary about the making of the album, highly recommend watching it. It is only 20mins

I beg you check out Chaos Takes the Wheel and I Am A Passenger by AwakwButStillInBed. They’re a smaller band but this album really does the emo genre justice. I’d love to hear your opinion on it while also giving a great band more attention

I saw frost children live in dc before this album's release and they fucking killed it .they were probably already touring for speed run during the post production for Hearth Room and they put out unmatched energy on stage regardless. theyre gonna start touring again in about a month if you like either of their albums do not miss their show they are natural performers !!
i was only there for them i walked out on Snore-ge clanton. couldnt match the vibe 🏳️⚧️
