This might be one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen on TH-cam I being a dog lover a travel love and most and biggest part of my life a car love cars are family to me and seeing u love this dog this car and move in with that family and do what u did made this grown man cry ! Keep up the good work man a new subscriber ! All the way to Alaska !! I'm willing to try to meet u there one day ! This is just beautiful
This is addicting I can NOT stop watching this! I love you Alaska and everyone else of course, thank you for sharing this wonderful life time experience.
Your story telling from the last video to this one has just exploded. The story has alignment, clarity, focus and interest. Where previous episodes left me... wondering? Now, you have your mojo. Keep it up!
Your perseverance was really inspiring. So many people surrender and quit under much less a challenge that you did with that motor. Well done! Seriously well done brother.
Impressive!! Amazing!! congrats with the endless positive personality.. to not give up on your Kombi after all of that?? Hero material right there! Have a good one, following your vids all the way, leaving on similar adventure in april '16 (luckily with a mercedes but oldtimer aswell, hoping not find myself in the need to dismount it as much as you) Keep on ridin' keep on dreamin' keep on inspiring people, you're definitely succeeding at that last one. Greetings from Belgium
I'm just a guy in California. Amazed and inspired by your persistence and relentlessness. Thanks for sharing. "And thank you for letting us live in your garage. Two months I was with you and you charged me nothing." Legendary.
I love this episode. The pure joy you must have felt when you fixed it! Glad youtubes allowing the songs now, Florence and MGMT songs fit so well with the story.
Wow this is one great story of adventure and perseverance! Beautifully done! Congrats on rebuilding your own engine...you really captured the complete satisfaction of self reliance and hard work. Enjoy you adventure. It brings a tear to my eye missing Costa Rica and longing to return and continue my own adventure with the Ticio's...I would love to drive from my home here in Ann Arbor Michigan to South America. Thanks for sharing yours and God Bless
+Kombi Life Ha, I was thinking the one thing that would be different would be the VW. Looks like the best part about the VW is the easy access to the engine. Have been searching for a Chevy or Ford due to parts availability but access may be tough.
I congratulate you for this amazing trip you made, I have been in Costa Rica (have family over there) also went to Guatemala, I havent had the time to know as much as I would like of our beautiful latinamerican countries, but I know several people from different countries I would love to visit. It´s amazing how you show the warmth, generosity, joy, and perseverance the beautiful latinamerican brothers have and live with, I wish you all the best, and I hope you gather all the videos together so it´s much easier to watch, or even I know you could do a great documentary out of this footage and probably get success publishing and advertising this great job, Saludos desde México/ Best regards.
Magnificent editing! I have watched a few engine rebuild videos and that has to be the most exciting ever - by many miles! Real talent - both with the camera and the spanner! I am just loving this series and really cross that I was in Seattle the same time as you but had no idea.
I'm from Costa Rica but I have been outside of the country for the past 4 years. This May I will finally get back to my home. This video got me teary eyed..... I'm proud of the people that treated you well. Blessings!
Glad you got her running again mate! Enjoy and I'll look forward to more vids. Getting my Vanagon back up and running this weekend. Starter is bad and I have an oil leak. I just came back from a week away and discovered you can't camp in a PT Cruiser.
Great job on the rebuild # 7 ! ~ Man, I got to watch more later, getting behind on my chores but this is so addicting! ~~ One more episode, for now. Onto # 8 ~~~ Cheers, James
Thanks for another thoroughly enjoyable video. The music, edits, and video snippets are a joy. Sometimes wish we could linger a little longer on a particular video snippet! There seems to be a large expat community of U.S., European, and Latin American Hippies there. Very nice! Your perseverance in the face of continued mechanical problems is inspiring. Having owned many VWs of different types (including Kombi) I felt on familiar territory during the mechanical sequences. Best of Luck, and Happy Trails!
I feel like this is the point where your story telling and videography really exploded. The imagery, music, and editing are absolutely fabulous add all support the story. Keep up the good work as you drive around the world
Read your thread on the Samba and just caught up on all the vids, killer work! I've been fixing up a 75 westy for a few years with the intention of doing a trip of this size. These videos got me inspired to get back in the garage tonight.
Well, another fantastic vid, love the little snips of the finer female form!! your soundtrack is bang on too, pretty much the same tunes I would pick for this type of trip... the editing is superb...im hooked!
I just now found you, and you are just amazing. I honestly admire you!!! This video is from 2013 which I didn’t check but I hope you are still traveling. All these stories and the path behind and in front of you are just amazing. I just started to watch your videos. Keep on! Maybe one day I will make a desition to go out to the world like you did. good luck pal !!!
I've had car troubles while travelling, too. It was nothing even close to this bad, but it still felt so distressing. I can't even imagine how you got through this without giving up. You really are a legend.
wow what a great story of you and your vw bus it just shows you if you just keep going dont focus on the bad good things will come i have been in costa rica now for about 7 months now i moved here from cali i have been a vw fan for a long time i have owned my share of vw as soon as i have enough money here im going to buy a 73 vw bus my last one that i had in the states before i moved here was a 1968 vw bus bought it for 1,000 bucks i loved that car miss it a lot i wish i could have brought
Bro, i love your videos and it's so genuine and watching it is making me fall in love with the idea of traveling for long periods of time. I hope you accomplish your goals
wow! i feel your frustration when the kombi breaks down and you have to put it together again for the 100th time and get so happy for you when you finally get it going!!! :)
This has been one of the most inspiring travel videos I have seen on youtube yet! Amazing that you learned to dismantle an entire engine and put it back together with success! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Where are you now??
+Kombi Life Well best of luck and I hope you keep uploading the rest of the USA trip all the way up to Alaska :) Give Alaska a pat for me. That dog is the best lol
Just started watching your adventures! I think I've been some places you have... At 1:05 in this video does the town your in start with an M? If so I've eaten at the restaurant right there a number of times....
I live in Costa Rica and this videos honestly means a lot, nothing more beautiful than the beaches and mountains of Costa Rica, it’s a bit expensive and sometimes it sucks but it’s such a beautiful country, everyone should visit once in their life time.
Wow man I can almost feel your pure joy when it starts up on first try! So cool! Very important life lessons in the video: life is made of ups and downs - have faith in the future. Perseverance always pays off, and such perseverance you have it's amazing. Did you already have mechanical notions before starting your journey? You truly are a great mechanic now. Peace
Absolutely amazing, you are my hero having leart to rebulid engines whilst on the road! It makes my iminent 2 month European trip seem like a weekend away! Thanks for sharing!
incredible perseverance man! love this trip - shits on my cozy SA trip :PP can wait to see the rest of your vids (limiting myself to one a day to get me through this winter in ireland..)
Yeah, the male is not enjoying this one, LOL. He's literally being dragged away by the penis, ouch. I bet he'll think twice before trying to mate a bigger dog like that again. :)
Male dogs penis swells up during sex. The penis has an area in the middle that's circumference is larger once it passes it swells up now they're stuck. I throw water on there.
Where was the Hostel that you were staying at located ? Love all your vids... Also feel your pain on wrenching on vehicles in remote places. Been there done that and got the scars to prove it... (Both physical and mental...lol :) Does this old man proud to see so many young people out discovering our world and the amazing places and people in it. Keep making memories.
I stumbled upon your videos and they are hilarious. I also found out, that you rebuilt your engine for about 8 times. Can you tell what was the main problem with it? I thought its an old pretty simple air cooled engine, what can go wrong? ;)
I dunno, lots more electronics and stuff to go wrong, and heavier when he drives it into the beach and mud and rivers. This VW might have been an unreliable pos but he was able to make it and continue fixing it himself and able to find parts nearly anywhere and he really had no mechanical knowledge ahead of time.
I used to have family that was from Costa Rica (they're still alive, just not family anymore due to divorce) and I always thought it would be a beautiful place to travel! And what did you do with the ditched Combi while you were away from it?
awsome video you are not scared to travel alone ? and where you from im curiouse i would love to make a loong road trip, but in a toyota tho :P keep going i like your video !
First, let me say you made a great video. I share your sense of wanderlust, only I travel by motorcycle. I'm also a retired VW mechanic. I admire you tenacity, but if you want to travel more then wrench, I have one word of advice: TOYOTA.
Paul Mark Agreed ... as a former Porsche/VW/BMW/Mercedes mechanic myself the first vehicle I'd look at to complete such a trip is an FJ60. The second vehicle I'd look at is an FJ80.
I'm a tico and have road tripped from california to costa rica, then back to california, then back to costa, now back in california... Yeah my heart is split and confused ... Getting ready to go back anytime

keep strong and carry on man. the VW (peoples auto) spirit is in ya!!!!!
I commend you! I would of given up. I tend to break things when I've worked that hard and it still won't work.
Love the series, but the previous one (Panama Nightmare) is blocked for me on copyright grounds by WMG...
I wanna see it :(
If the video is unavailable for you. This is how to watch it. kombilife.com/kombilifevideounavailable
Could you make a list of all the music you play in your vlogs? I love every song that's in every video so far lol
wtf is that at 4:40 is that catdog?
I want to know as well. Looks like they stitched the dogs together.
I had to Google it. Apparently it's called copulatory tie and it sounds extremely unpleasant!!
What I learned from this series so far: If you are going on a roadtrip, you better know how to fix an engine.
You are wearing me out. Did you try Lucas oil?
Great rebuild episode.
I'm a tico and have road tripped from california to costa rica, then back to california, then back to costa, now back in california... Yeah my heart is split and confused
