Just in case, if you like to see the best ever made Vampire movie in the world, check Hammer Horror - Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter. Damn shame people had been to idiotic back then to see the genius of this never made series pilot film. Let me point out two things about it: Highlander, Blade.

Great pics! Lifeforce and From Beyond get semi regular viewings in my house. I'm not a big slasher fan, but I love Ti West's entire X trilogy. Many moons ago, I bought a ton of horror DVDs from a closing video store (.50 a pop). Innocent Blood was one of them and has been sitting on the shelf unwatched for all those years. Going to dust it off and give it a watch tonight.

The film that I think of that perfectly fits this description is Cemetery Man. I only saw it once years ago on a movie channel on cable, but it's memorable in both how gory it is while still being kinda perverted. Evil Dead the OG is another one I would consider for a list like this. Another good video, Chase. You remind me of some of the films I forgot all about. I have a few of these mostly on DVD. I know a lot of people love the Re-animator, but it was another that never appealed to me. Slightly off subject, I pre-ordered April Fools Day on 4K, which I look forward to seeing again as it's been a number of years. We both really loved that one, so it was a must buy for me.

@BBI_Strange_Agent You know you can't even find it on IMDB unless you type the foreign title in a search? I know someone else on here who tried to do a review for it but TH-cam wouldn't allow it to be uploaded. Even when he edited out anything that was slightly graphic they still wouldn't let them show it on here. I only know this because they told me after I mentioned it. They were pretty upset because they had spent a lot of time making that video.

@anthonymerchant2597 The title confusion might stem from Dellamorte Dellamore being the real original title (many don't realize it's actually an Italian film). I've heard that several creators have gotten strikes from using footage from the film. Apparently whoever holds the rights is militant about it.

Stefan was a mysterious character. He obviously knew the Countess, and he claimed Valery as his own, but what was his motives and relationship to the Countess and to the man who answered Stefan's phone call? What was he? Another vampire? The movie isn't flawless - the two murders could have used a choreographer who does fight scenes. But the dialog is so excellent it could be used to teach other screen writers.

i love Species, one of my favorites from my teenage years, I would have been 13 in '95. So many on your list I've never seen, which I love hearing about. I watched a movie last night that I hadn't seen since I was probably 16, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II. I think this might slightly fall into your category here. One thing I noticed that I hadn't thought of before, is that Mary Lou is sort of like Freddy Krueger in this movie, almost a female Freddy or Jason or Michael. I watched it on Joe Bob and Darcy Last Drive-in show. Joe Bob said something really interesting (given the timing) that this movie has been compared to as the Blue Velvet of horror films. I thought "hmm, that's interesting and I can see what they mean", it sort has that dream quality to it, and it's a very patient movie where they don't rush the scenes. A lot of people think this movie sucks, but I have always loved it, however I do see the generic aspect to it, it's corny in a sense, you could say it's good hot garbage. Lol. But I love it. Darcy said it's one of her top 5 favorite horror movies ever, and they even recreated and did a prom dance on their show for it with Darcy dressed up as Mary Lou. Lol. BTW, If you are still having issues finding Joe Bob's episodes where the movies are played...see my comment under your video from last night (the live you did), I explain where the solution might be.

Don't Look Now needs to be seen more than once, because when you really understand the context, that scene (the most important scene in the movie - not gratuitous at all) becomes incredibly sad. My initial reaction was that the film was a bit overhyped - a solid supernatural thriller that was way more well-made than it actually needed to be (directed, acted and especially EDITED), but when you watch it knowing where it's going it becomes a powerfully emotional experience and the themes (water is ubiquitous, the appearances of the color red, emotion, time, decay, loss, grief, Venice in the off-season - still romantic but also morbid, love treated in a way that's actually meaningful...) take over and carry the film. It's a lot more powerful, and deep, and the credible lovemaking isn't just incidental, it's central. (It's probably the first time since the accident that opes the film, which is significant, but it's also... something else, and when you figure it out you might cry.) The fact that we interpret the film differently on subsequent viewings elides with what happens in the film - the story hinges on the characters' fatal misinterpretation or failure to appreciate what they're actually seeing and what information they're being given. Don't Look Now isn't just a great horror movie, it's a great film, period - an underrated treatment of a marriage relationship between people who are still in love with each other that actually takes that bond more seriously than most high-end romantic dramas.
Daughters of Darkness is my favorite lesbian vampire film hands down, excellent call there, but José Larraz' Vampyres doesn't skimp on the boobs, blood and softcore humping we love the 70s for, along with some great groovy-gothic atmosphere, and a pair of very well qualified Playmates doing the bloodletting honors. Blood for Dracula is also a great pick, but don't anyone sleep on the companion film, Flesh for Frankenstein, that was made back to back (in 3-D!), which is also a blast, carrying over the same director and a lot of the same cast and personnel.
I love this topic because I have a longtime interest in movies that live at the intersection of sex and violence - so forgive me going on at length, but here goes.
Dressed to Kill (which I know you covered in another video recently) is the gold standard for me, but that film started out as De Palma's treatment for the OTHER most controversial film of 1980, Cruising. The unfairly reviled William Friedkin film is absolutely fearless - a horror film about identity, disguised as an undercover police procedural, and set (BRILLIANTLY!) in the deep end of the gay kink scene of the late 1970s just before AIDS exploded (so there really WAS a mysterious killer stalking that community). Cruising ends up being an education you didn't count on, and it's got that same unsettling vibe that haunted The Exorcist, a lot of which is just authentic that-era NYC grit, grunge and sleaze. It's probably one of Pacino's last understated performances (save for some crazy dancing you've gotta see), and he looks appropriately nervous throughout.
Is Cronenberg's Crash a horror film? His debut feature Shivers definitely is, with an epidemic of nasty "venereal disease/aphrodisiac parasites" turning everyone in an otherwise sterile apartment complex into dangerous sex maniacs! Claire Denis' Trouble Every Day is basically a mean little arthouse riff on Shivers.
Ken Russell's Lair of the White Worm is an absolute hoot. If Bram Stoker's original title weren't a sexual entendre, there can be no doubt about Russell's underwear and innuendo laden treatment, complete with frenzied psychedelic freak outs. Slinky, sexy Amanda Donohoe steals the show left, right and center, looking incredible in whatever she's wearing or isn't. Watch our for pointy sacrificial strap-ons. Russell’s erotic thriller Crimes of Passion (be sure to see the uncut version) is a lumpier but more ambitious film, with Kathleen Turner and Anthony Perkins both going for broke in the delirious depravity department.
Paul Schrader’s Cat People remake with Nastassja Kinski is pretty steamy, and it looks and sounds great. Paul Verhoeven’s stylish The 4th Man is naughty (and sometimes bloody) fun. Lamberto Bava’s goofy 80s giallo Delirium: Photos of Gioia is top-heavy with cheap thrills, if you get my meaning. Maybe the best psychosexual giallo is Sergio Martino’s The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh starring Edwige Fenech, arguably one of the most perfect physical specimens of femininity to ever grace the screen - and you get a really good look at her. Assault! Jack the Ripper is a sick and messed up treat from Japan’s softcore heyday before anyone had ever heard the words "politically correct." Erotica specialist Walerian Borowczyk dipped into horror with The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne (Udo Kier again!) and his notorious, often banned, fairy tale riff The Beast. And, finally, let’s not forget Frankenhooker and what a little supercrack can do to hotel room full of prostitutes. Wanna date? Yes, you do.
