    ⁉️ THE QUESTION:
    What Happened to the Original 12 Disciples?
    ====================
    🎙️ THE ANSWER:
    Well, the Bible doesn't tell us what happened to all 12 of them. It does give us a picture into a couple of them. We know that Judas betrays Jesus. He's going to hang himself.
    We know that James in Acts chapter 12 is going to be arrested by King Herod and he'll be put to death. And then there's the historical tradition. This is outside the Bible, but the historical tradition of the church is that the other disciples died as faithful martyrs.
    For example, Peter is someone who would be crucified upside down by Emperor Nero in Rome. We know that Thomas, the same doubting Thomas, he would go all the way to India, preach the gospel there until he was stabbed to death with his spear.
    There's Bartholomew who would preach in Armenia until he was martyred. Philip would be martyred also in Asia Minor and then Matthew, James, Thaddeus, Simon, Andrew, all of them were believed to have taken the gospel to different parts of Asia and Europe and be martyrs.
    John is the only disciple who is believed to have died an natural death. He was in exile on the island of Patmos. He wrote the Book of Revelation.

      I have a question. We are always told that early Christians didn’t have bibles because paper and ink was too expensive. Yet John, while exiled to a penal colony got enough of each to write the book of Revelation. Plus we have over 10,000 early manuscripts. Paul also said to make copies of his writings and send them out to all the churches.

You have no evidence or ever have seen any evidence detailing Peter departing Israel and arriving in Rome because there is no evidence it ever happened and it almost certainly never happened.
      Of course if you have discovered evidence that nobody ever had before, that Peter was in Rome then you can tell us about it.

One the third day he said goodbye to his disciples and laid down in his grave and gave up his soul. The Orthodox Church has the knowledge of what happened to all the Saints and even the entire life of Christ's mother, Mary. It is held in our Tradition and passed down. It's too bad that so many people just don't know these things because they only look to the Bible (which btw was created by the members of the Orthodox Church and agreed upon in 325 at the Council of Nicea).

There is a volume for each month of the year and you can look up Saint's lives by the day of their death. St. John is celebrated on September 26th. My kids also have a book written for children about his life. I'm glad you asked because it made me go read the section on him and realize that he actually reposed in Ephesus not Patmos. Also, like Mary the Mother of God, St. John has no grave because after his death his body ascended into Heaven to be with Christ. But unlike Elijah and Enoch, he died first, then his body was taken up. This maybe why people think he is still wandering around but that is not a teaching of the Early Church (the Orthodox Church) and is still not to this day. It was made up somewhere along the way. The Apostle John didn’t write the Gospel of John and the book of Revelation.
      They were written by John-Mark, the rich young ruler, who witnessed the trial and went to the cross.
      He was a pupil of Nicodemus and authored the Gospel of Mark as well.
      ”And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.“
      ‭‭John‬ ‭18‬:‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬
      The disciple known to the high Priest was John Mark, the one whom Jesus loved….. note that disciple went into the court yard with Jesus!
      ………
      Peter asked the question because he felt that Jesus should rebuke the other disciple as well since he also sort of betrayed Jesus
      Read those passages carefully and God will open your eyes and give you understanding

      If the seed is the word of God and the seed was planted in Jerusalem; then what eventually grew in Jerusalem in all the spots Jesus was? The Catholic Church. A tree is known by its fruits. A catholic church is at most or all of the countries where the Apostles were martyred. The word Bible is Latin and it means book. Sancta Bible. So yes go to Rome. The Catholic Church also owns remnants of the Holy Cross of Jesus, Crown of Thorns, Shroud of Turin, Veil of Veronica, La Santa Anello which is the wedding ring of Mary, the holy house of Loreto which is Mary and Joseph's house in Jerusalem, Joseph's tunic. What validation does your church have that it is the true Christian religion amongst all the other Christian Denominations claiming to be the truth? Your church will eventually die off and that's the sad honest truth. The scripture: "and the gates of Hades will not prevail" is talking about the Catholic Church and not your church. We have survived every persecution there is a still standing 2,000 years later. You might know scripture but you don't know authority.
      You search the scriptures because you think you have salvation through them-Jesus. You grabbing a Protestant Bible that's missing 6 books and altered by Martin Luther and claiming to be Christian is like me buying a Navy Seal training book from a yard sale and claim to be a real Navy Seal because I read the whole thing and memorized it but I don't acknowledge the US government as the authority of the US Navyseal training manual. Finally your church has no known miracles like the Catholic Church. The Eucharistic Miracles, the many apparitions of Mary: Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Las Lajas,Our Lady of Akita. Look it all up. Science studied by religious and secular scholars. Your church has absolutely nothing compared to that so leave Rome out of it because you don't know what you're talking about. Who introduced western medicine? Catholic Church. Who introduced Hospitals? Catholic Church. Who leads the world in sheltering the poor, feeding the poor? Catholic Church. Try to measure your church compared to that. Gloria tibi Domine.

      In reflecting on the early days of the church, it's fascinating to consider how the absence of a compiled Bible parallels the Protestant narrative of sola scriptura. Back then, the early church fathers communicated through letters and teachings, living out and transmitting Jesus' teachings orally. This underscores the significance of sola scriptura, emphasizing the Bible as the ultimate authority for faith and practice, especially given the reliance on oral tradition before the scriptures were compiled. As Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I’ve commanded you, and surely I’m with you always, to the very end of the age.”

      @@georgesaliba8876 Ok but why didn’t He just say that He was the rock? Why did He make it cryptic? Any other place where He’s the focus, He’ll say “I am the…” and yet He doesn’t do that for Matthew 16. Plus, Peter was unanimously understood as leader of the early Church.

      Not only Peter, but all of His disciples, which built on Christ Himself... Read book of Revelation and apostle Paul's letters : Revelation 21:14 (KJV) And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
      1 Corinthians 3:10-11 (KJV) According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I HAVE LAID THE FOUNDATION, AND ANOTHER BUILDETH THEREON. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
      FOR OTHER FOUNDATION CAN NO MAN LAY THAN THAT IS LAID, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST.
      Ephesians 2:20-22 (KJV) And ARE BUILT UPON THE FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF BEING THE CHIEF CORNER STONE;
      In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
      In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God THROUGH THE SPIRIT.

    For the sake of scriptural integrity, James was not one of the twelve. He was, in fact, the half brother of Jesus and actually resisted Jesus’ Messiahship until he met the Risen Christ following the resurrection. Otherwise the short was awesome…considering that all the 12 needed to do to avoid being killed for their faith was to keep silent.

      The James that is mentioned in Acts 12 was the son of Zebedee and the brother of John, and so was part of the 12. The half-brother of Jesus (James the just) was believed to have been thrown down from the Jerusalem temple and beaten to death. Although he was not one of the 12, he was still very foundational to the early church (Acts 2, 15; 1 Corinthians 15; Galatians 1&2), even writing one of the earliest epistles (the epistle of James) as a shepherd to one of the first churches ever (the Jerusalem Church).

      James the apostle became the bishop of Jerusalem and Jesus never had a brother, he is the last line of David, 14 generations read Jesus' genealogy in MAT 1. Jesus did not have any competition for the Kingship of the New Davidic Kingdom, he is the last king, no more successor.

      @alfray1072 Jesus certainly had brothers, and they are mentioned in Mark 6 and in Acts 2, and epistles of two of them (James and Jude) are in the New Testament canon.
      However, Jesus retains the right to rule from the house of David, since he was the first born to Mary, and also had Joseph as his legal father. Moreover, he is the Son of God, and so not only has the right to rule over the house of Jacob/Israel, but over all created things (Colossians 1:15 - 20).

      @@joshuaoputteh1876 The Davidic lineage ends in Jesus, 14th generation, no brothers/sisters mentioned, if there is, they would have succeeded it or inherited it as king but did not bec the New Davidic Kingdom is the church and the keys was given to Peter/Cephas establishing his office as the gatekeeper/prime minister/shepherd of the church. 2ND, Joseph was a relative of Mary, if he had a son with her, then that would compete with Jesus 3RD, Mary was entrusted to John when Jesus was dying, not w/a brother or sister. 4TH Brother is a term used broadly in Aramaic/Hebrew language
