Favorite Bruce Springsteen song of all time. The local rock station, KLOL, used to play it every day back in the early Seventies. It had not been released yet but apparently his manager sent it around to a few stations around the country. He'd always play it live when he was in Houston. Like a song with a cult following.
I was in Houston at that time, too, but the story I heard was that it was a bootleg copy from a recording session. I also heard that it was one of his least favorite songs which is why it was not on any of the regular released albums and that he quit performing it at his concerts. Maybe he made an exception for Houston? "The Fever" was my introduction to Bruce Springsteen. I tried to record the song off of KLOL, but always missed it.
The first time I heard" the fever" it was sung by Southside Johnny when I found out that Bruce wrote the song I waited for the day that I would hear him play it and he did, absofreakinlutly the greatest.... Miss you Clarence Clemons 🎷🎷🎷🎶😎
Rock & Roll, Jazz, American folk (he sings it all) - a Singer, Songwriter (pure poetry), Musician, Frontman -The list goes how talented this one man is. Put him together with the amazing E St Band and magic happens. Love how he lets his band mates shine in mostly every number. Thank you Bruce for all you have given. A fan forever!
OMG... Danny and Clarence In The Groove just jammin, looked like Bruce was enjoying it too.. One of the most talented and underrated bands in musical history. Its such a shame it took so long to be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame.. The Legendary E Street Band...
The studio version of this on "Tracks" is absolutely incredible; just another great song he didn’t let us hear for decades - I like it much better than ‘Southside’s’ ....
Most talented... Most seductive... Most amazing writer, singer, and performer!! 😍 My 1st and very best concert was of the boss!! 4 ever blessings N love Bruce ❤
I fell in love with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band... During the magical "darkness on the edge of town tour of 1978... I have seen Bruce for the last several decades and I loved every show but I always come back to the 1978 tour..." THE BEST" THE FEVER is one of my favorites with Small things, summertime blues, and prove it all night with the insane amazing fantastic intro...💥
I remember in the mid 70"s when this song was played on KLOL in Houston as a bootleg as it was never officially released because Bruce had some issue with it. One of the greatest blues songs ever. Everything about this song is fantastic!
Cool 👍🏽Very good that you released this on 18 Tracks. It is a masterpiece. It is so sad that Elvis died so early. It is my absolut believe that if he would be still with us...I'm sure that he would have made a record with you Bruce and the E - Street and im 1000% secure that he would choose Fever,Fire,Stand on it,and From Small things....and so on...Why i do write this ? Because this R and B at his best....Yep EXELLENT👌👌👌
THANKS THANKS FOR THAT LOADING Your Germanbrucesister from Stuttgart. Every time you play in Munich.... Stuttgart....Germany is also Southgermany and we have really a good Stadium to play for you here ......this is a big wish till 1988 Bruceeee❤.....a big big ❤ from your Germansisters BIG MAN will never forget ....till our own end. He is in my ❤
He played a 4 hour and 6 minute show in Helsinki in 2012. And that doesn't even include the 5 song solo show he gave the earliest arriving fans that night.
So thrilled to see this version of Rosalita. Amazing work. So upbeat to see this variety of concert footage. This is quality entertainment from one of America's premier bands and singer/songwriters/performers. Complex musicianship and music with lyrics that tell interesting stories are really rare these days. First saw Bruce Springsteen in the beginning of his great success at an outdoor concert at Swarthmore College in the early 1970s. Stay well Bruce and Patty and band.
Back in the day WMMR Philadelphia had this from the vault type series... if you were lucky enough you'd catch them playing FEVER. Absolutely one of his top songs without question. Oh yeah, CLARENCE FREAKING CLEMONS IS THE MAN
I remember when the late Ed Shocky (spelling?) would play this all the time on WMMR in Philly back in the early 70s. I had no idea until today it was not released until 1999. He was so big in Philly back then that I thought he was big time famous but it was not until later that happened.
Maybe it's just an impression, but Bruce's voice on that one really sounds more like how he would sing after '85 than like how he was usually singing in the late 70s-early 80s! Apart from Cadillac Ranch (and maybe Give The Girl A Kiss), I can't think of another song of that period where Bruce sounds so "Tunnel Of Love-like". If I hadn't seen the year, I would have sworn this was recorded somewhere between 1985 and 1988, incredible! When hearing Bruce singing, I can usually guess when it was recorded (more or less 2-3 years), but this one would have puzzled me completely! But maybe I'm just thinking too much! By the way, majestic song, Bruce didn't make that many jazz rock songs, but all the ones he did were absolutely brilliant! He'll always be my absolute favorite singer, I listen to nearly everything from blues rock to death metal and from prog rock to funk, but the Boss is still unbeatable! And The E Street Band is also on fire on this recording, amazing performance!
I just mentioned it on another site but yes first time I heard it was at the cosmic cowboy show in Houston 1974 I don't think Bruce was on the ticket but he was there and he did this song and boy it became a little cult thing in Houston at least with some of us back in those days I could wear a crop top without a bra and a pair of 501 jeans and do my Slinky dinky dance. And yes it's one of my favorites can't remember how much that ticket was I still have the stub I bet it was something like $5
My roommate at Tyler School of Art in Philly got kicked out of the concert in the very beginning.. what a tragedy. Early 80s. I didn't go because I was a stupid shy geek. I didn't get it. I was always worried about money and working hard.
This is a beautiful continuation of the Born To Run vibe. I remember hearing a boot copy on the radio and thinking wow this is what's coming next!!! Better than ANYTHING on Darkness.
Clarence, você foi Ooo Caraa ta pra nascer alguém melhor do que você!!! E Bruce meu namorado, você continua o Master na música, eu te amo namorado, mas saiba que estou muito magoada com você!!!
Favorite Bruce Springsteen song of all time. The local rock station, KLOL, used to play it every day back in the early Seventies. Incredibly great song. Big man's sax and vocals really add to an amazing song
I was in Houston at that time, too, but the story I heard was that it was a bootleg copy from a recording session. Yes.. best BS song period
South Side Johnny did okay with it too

Southside Johnny made it his own.
Who amongst us has not burned from "The Fever" at least once in their life?
That solo with Danny and The Big Man gave me chills...
Yes Sir... I agree 1000%...
Miss you Clarence Clemons..🎷🎷🎷
The fever. Best song by Springsteen
I love this man and his music - but i miss this early, that 70s springsteen...
The real good Boss is that one on the '70's. From Spain, with love.
Was just a little too young to see him in his richmond va Steel Mill era in early 70s.. but I did bowl with his ex girlfriend from then....
Amen to that.
@@richardamidon3381Karen Darvin?
Proof that classic rock and roll doesn't require guitar solos.
and it helps when you have the greatest saxophone player ever, and a bad ass organ player too lol
OMG...
Danny and Clarence In The Groove just jammin, looked like Bruce was enjoying it too..
One of the most talented and underrated bands in musical history.
Its such a shame it took so long to be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame..
The Legendary E Street Band...
Don't forget Roy
If I make it to heaven, I hope clarence and danny will be at the gates playing that solo!
The big man was great
Only Bruce can make the word Fever so cool. Sending to any friends affected by COVID-19
The studio version of this on "Tracks" is absolutely incredible; just another great song he didn’t let us hear for decades - I like it much better than ‘Southside’s’ ....
I am so glad to see this back. It disappeared for a few months.
Most talented...
Most seductive...
Most amazing writer, singer, and performer!! 😍
My 1st and very best concert was of the boss!! 4 ever blessings N love Bruce ❤
Thats laughable 😂
Finally this is back! It was deleted! for a while and I missed it so much!
I fell in love with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band... During the magical "darkness on the edge of town tour of 1978... I have seen Bruce for the last several decades and I loved every show but I always come back to the 1978 tour..." THE BEST"

Clarence Clemons ( The Big Man).
Once there was a King (Elvis),
a Queen ( Aretha) ,

Now, only The Boss remains.
My favorite of his lesser known songs. Love it!

This is the sexiest song!!
He wrote this in 1971 and waited 28 years to release a recording of it.
Wish I could have been at the concert last night in Philly!! I love Bruce and Steven V.
Great performance, especially enjoy those jazzy sounds from the 🎹🎹🎹🎹 & 🎷🎷🎷😍
Incredible song and performance! Thanks God for the Bruce's life. A lot of love from Brazil 🇧🇷

BRUCE IS THE FONZ OF ROCK AND ROLL
Great song! Great blues! And I think Bruce should sing it more often... starting my day with joy! Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil!
Great artist, great voice.
I remember in the mid 70"s when this song was played on KLOL in Houston as a bootleg as it was never officially released because
Bruce had some issue with it. One of the greatest blues songs ever.
Everything about this song is fantastic!

He was so young...it's like he grew into himself but all the stuff was there from the gate.
Bom dia, Linda música. 🎸🎻🎷🎵🌹

Bruce wasn't too keen on this song, and gave it away to Southside Johnny.
