The best song on the album... like I wrote before, you wish you could rescue the characters from dispair - the girl with eyes of one who hates for just being born. My God! How many young people live their lives feeling like that! The song is so beautiful that it hurts... Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil!
Best song he and anyone has in my opinion, which is definitely fair to debate in fairness. I think Thunder Road, Born to Run, Jungleland, and Badlands round off top 5 (any order). The River (song), Rosalita, and Backstreets probably next on my list after those.
I wish I could have seen the early concerts live. Some of my first records were "Live 1975-85". That was Bruce's best time. And all my favorite songs are on it. Thunder Road, 4th of July, Asbury Park, Badlands, Because the Night, Racing in the Streets, The River.

His political views and his struggles with depression always seemed obvious to me based on the lyrics he's written. Some people don't pay much attention I guess.
He was a hero to the working class. Then he got mouthy with his liberal spew. I saw him on May 1st 2014 in Tampa. Dedicated it to the communist May Day. Like a muscle car idling through Houston, you know when Bruce puts his foot down on that pedal, the whole damn town is going to light up! Fantastic version, what a great show.
Wow, just epic, hard to find the words to describe the magic that the GOAT delivers in this performance. But my favorite thing is at 7:30, he looks at Clarence and is just so happy, and then just nails the rest of the song. So cool to see someone so great at what he does, but also so happy to be doing it with his boys, and he sees Clarence and he just lights up, like “yeah, love him, so cool to be here doing this together “
Great band playing one of the top tunes of the best Bruce album. Note how tight the band is, playing right on as Bruce runs off to switch guitars for some reason. When he comes back out, he's connecting with the audience like he hasn't missed a beat. Hands down one of the top true showmen in Rock.

Lyrical genius who can just speak to us & for us as we travel through this thing called life! Heard this song first on his live album released back in the mid eighties. Every time I hear it I am transported back to my teenage bedroom and those hot summer nights! Love that.....its like having a time machine!
What an anthem ! 41 years ago this was released, and still sounds as fresh and vital now,as it did then, but to this day l think it should've been a single
I am SO Glad i grew up with you, Bruce. Thunder Road was the first i heard of you. I immediately went out and bought your first two albums. I listened to them both all night long. I have to say that 'Born to Run' was the least favorite. But 10th Ave. Freezeout was unreal. To get back to the first two, Damn.
I played this particular Song I guess a 1000 times. After my divorce in an old diesel Van driving to Northern France with my Son. We did so many cheap road trips then, and it made the bound with my Son unbreakable. I had no money for spotify so I downloaded nice old music and put it on a usb stick. The radio in the Van hardly did it, but the usb allways worked. My Son is 22 now, and we went to see Bruce this summer in Nijmegen. I cried when I stood there with my arm around his back and the Boss played Thunder Road.. Well I got this Guitar and I learned how to make it talk.. Thnx for sharing!!
This song was sung when my parents had not yet met and 40 years later I spent hours driving back home from my girlfriend and listening to this song again and again...

The Coda on this song is simply amazing. I reckon it's in most fan's top ten songs by Bruce.
man i love that old ;70s piano sound, stuff you don't ever hear in today's music. isn't that a yamaha concert grand i believe.
My favorite version of this song 💞
This is pure magic.
Thnx for sharing!!
makes me cry every time
This is a beautiful song..

well, we were born to run and rage. Amen. Now we need peace, love, brotherhood, with what's left of the Earth.
This song was sung when my parents had not yet met and 40 years later I spent hours driving back home from my girlfriend and listening to this song again and again...
