    I just carried out first coupled temp-disp analysis in the new version of PrePoMax and I’m really impressed. Congratulations, this software is so wonderful. That’s just what we needed.

    Fantastic! This work is so valuable - making it available for free is a service to humanity. I can't wait to see where it goes.

    good improvement on initial condition features applied to a node of parts, waiting for stress type. also, imperfection (change node coordinates) is another important steps to perform structural or mechanical analysis.

    This is awesome. I am thinking of getting into the code sometime and see if I can extend some features. Can you show nodal and element numbers in the gui ?

    Hi Matej.
    good work with PrePoMax software, its fantastic!. I have a question, Can I make a Harmonic response analisys for a structure with PrePoMax? thanks for you work

      No, unfortunately, it is not supported using the GUI at the moment. Only the eigenfrequency analysis is possible.

    Outstanding work.
    Is there any work going into supporting 1D elements? I usually do joints with two RBE3s fixed together with a beam element, and this GUI is almost COMPLETELY perfect, aside from that.

      @@MatejBorovinsek can not believe it's being opensourced. i downloaded the sources, but seems complex enough to traces and understand the codes.
      beam element in calculix are advanced than any 1D classical element, if i can says superior due to it's nonlinear capabilities. i do tested for several cases, need such a tricky to gain their advancement and accuracy.
      if i have an ideas in PrePoMax features to import DXF line element, and assign the beam section properties (any shapes). may you can gave me such a guidances, from the code files where's i can start? need a try although i'm not really good in programming and familiar with C#/.Net
      or there's a team labs who specifics in development, so i'm only required to submit a flow steps and verification example cases?
      much respect and thank you.

      @@syont adding the beam elements will not be so easy. The graphical 3D control does not support them at the moment so first, graphical representation has to be solved. Then .dyf files are only 2D files (or not?) so this is probably not the best method to import line geometry. And there is no team to help you, only me :)

      @@MatejBorovinsek thank you for replies, wish you stay health during this hard periods. Actually DXF file is 3D line. I do some patch on the converter to CalculiX CGX format, strictly to keep work only for 2D only if a user has circle or arc objects. It's due to difficulty in defining of normal planes works on 3D. When object only contains line element, then converter works normally as expected in 3D coordinates of end lines. A PrePoMax is an amazing project with only one man works. Okay, next time I will contact to discuss further by mail. Thank you.

      @@MatejBorovinsek Maybe some issues with graphical representation of beam elements could be resolved by visualizing them as very thin cylinders (with diameter set as a fraction of length so that they never look too large or too small) instead of 1D lines. Then in postprocessing results will probably have to be shown on rendered cross-sections anyway as CalculiX internally expands beam elements to solids (like it does with shells). FreeCAD (open-source CAD software) has CalculiX beam elements already implemented but it doesn’t have to deal with issues regarding graphical representation since it’s a CAD software and has a special module for drawing lines. When it comes to file format, both dxf and step should work for 3D sketches.
      Since the source code of PrePoMax is also public now, maybe other people will help you implement features like that if you don’t mind. I will be glad to participate too even though I don’t have much experience in coding. The collaborative development could work in such a way that someone clones a master repository, adds something in his copy and sends you a note with a request to review his changes and potentially implement them to the official version. At least this is how it works on GitHub, I suspect it’s very similar in the case of GitLab.
      Unless you prefer to develop the official version of PrePoMax yourself. That’s also quite common approach for open-source software (including CalculiX itself) and has its advantages.

    Hi, what mesh parameters setting can be used to have the hex-dominated mesh?

    • @MatejBorovinsek
      @MatejBorovinsek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hex or hex-dominated mesh can not be created using PrePoMax. But it can be created using Gmesh, exported into .inp file format and imported into PrePoMax using File -> Import.

      @@MatejBorovinsek Do you mean netgen can not create hex mesh and must to use Gmesh?

    • @syont
      @syont 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zhangzq71 hi, i have some experienced in these task. GMSH can do create hex dominant mesh for arbitrary geometry or fully hex mesh using extrusion method. NETGEN only supported for quad dominant mesh of shell element, if the geometry are less complicate then extrusion method could be possible to create hex dominant mesh.
      these approach only can do inside Salome, afaik currently not implement in PrePoMax but it has capabilities to import UNV mesh type.
