Good man showing that facecut. Too often I get fussy with chasing humbolts around the tree and changing my lay by a couple feet or more. In my case, where I’m out in the open, it’s not such a big deal unless I’m shooting between two trees, but in residential situations an inch can be a disaster.

My grandfather had a wench truck in the 50's, so when we would cut leaning trees he would set us up with a chained off tree to be sure it would fall a given direction. His methods aren't what you see these days. He was known for chaining a tree so that it would fall toward the lean then swing around to a safe area. I was young when he was showing off these skills.

I always have a extra kind of cheap fishing rod and some tackle in a small tackle box with me and if i see a kid with broken gear or they dont have any gear at all, i give them the rod and tackle. it doesnt cost much and it makes you feel pretty good seeing how happy the kids get when they have their own equipment.
