  • This documentary won the prestigious National Film Award for the best educational film in 2013 in India. President Shri Pranab Mukharjee gave away this award in a glittering ceremony on 3rd May 2014. It is an award for an extremely efficient and precise analysis of the contributions of three renowned scientists in a manner that not only educates today's generation but also provides insights into complex scientific phenomena in an accessible manner. At the turn of the 20th century, the world was witnessing a renaissance in the area of quantum physics through the work of great scientists such as Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Ernest Rutherford or Neils Bohr. Unknown to the world, three Indian scientists were also making significant contributions to the quantum world with revolutionary deductions, interpretations and theories.
    Dr. Satyendra Nath Bose devised a statistical theory of counting photons - a revelation even to Albert Einstein -- that paved the way for the two great minds to work in tandem in formulating fundamental theories as the Bose-Einstein Statistics and Bose-Einstein Condensate. Boson, the class of particles that obey Bose-Einstein statistics, was named after Dr. S. N. Bose. Sir C. V. Raman gave the world what is known as the Raman effect, which redefined how we see light and colour. Another contemporary, Dr. Meghnad Saha produced an equation that explained stellar radiation and is regarded as one of the fathers of modern astrophysics. All the three scientists started their careers at the Calcutta University, became Fellows of the Royal Society, and Raman was the first and only Indian to be awarded the Nobel Prize for physics.
    The film is a tribute to the three exemplary minds, the significance of whose contributions was of vital importance during that time, and even today with great strides being made in quantum physics, fibre optics, nuclear science or astrophysics. They were not only great scientists, but were rooted to the social and political realities of the time and dedicated their lives to modern science in India. Along with being institutions by themselves, they built stellar institutions in the country that inspired many great scientists of the following generations.

    As an American, I too learned about Bose and Raman in physics courses. I also studied biochemstry under Rajindar Ranu and Ananda Chakrabarty. As a common middle-class boy from the mid-west, I knew that culturally they were different from me, but scientifically speaking, their teaching was seamless. I am very greatful for the gifts that all these Indians have given me and the rest of the world.

      CHANDRASEKAR of Chicago University, Ramakrishnan of Cambridge University and Govind Korona of Wisconsin University all were Indians who won Nobel in science. Chandrasehar in Astro physics, Ramakrishnan in Chemistry and Govind Korona in biology.So, four Indians won the Nobel in science todate.

      Ajnãnaji do not agree with the word ‘Vedic quackery’ our Rishis and Munis were scientists in their time they had through their ‘Vedic Knowledge’ a full and complete knowledge about any thing on Earth and Meditation was the basis of their knowledge. BTW it was the McCaulay Education System that induced a type of shame in acknowledging that were Hindus and the rest followed.

    • @osculocentric
      @osculocentric 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@harshabiliangady3211 Baby boy, Science is communicated using precise language and not some vague narrative like the Vedas. Read a scientific paper to know the amount of stress and hardships people go through to put their point forward. If Vedas were written by a scientist then the way it is written in poetic sense is totally not a right choice and defeats purpose. Vedas are self contradictory too at many places.
      There is no denying that Vedas have stuff like Shulba Sutra etc which showcased the preliminary knowledge of mathematics. But there were many civilizations of the same era or even before that which had similar knowledge. For example the ancient Egyptians.
      Where I study we even have a course on Science in Ancient India, but a lot of Indians including you, overstate these achievements, by including mumbo jumbo. Maybe it is the under confidence you guys hold when confronting someone from the West.
      Now my question to you is, if you are so sure that Vedas hold the ultimate knowledge then please enlighten others with the solutions to the problems related to "Quantum Gravity" and the real solution to what "Dark matter" is.
      @S Roy well name calling will not solve anything. Even I can call you something, but it does not prove the point.
      I am proud of people like S N Bose, C V Raman, Panchratnam, Aryabhatta , A K Raychaudhuri, Ashoke Sen, and all those who really contributed to the knowledge of science, but you guys proved my first point in this comment section, why a majority of Indians have not excelled much in this 21st century in Science.

      @@osculocentric Vedic quackery sounds too biased & strong a word. I am not aware if you have visited any of the stone Temples in India which date back to hundreds/thousands of years or more. None of these temples would have been possibly built without the use of science & technology which has resulted in them still being intact after so many centuries. Now it may be possible that the knowledge may have been lost over time, either by force of external forces or simply passage of time. Best example in this regard is the complete destruction of Nalanda University by an invader in 12th century which destroyed thousands of books. Who knows, maybe we lost the most valuable books forever due to these foreign invasions. Unfortunately, there were no cloud storage at that time. 😂

It's where I got a lot of ideas about the actual workings of hidden timing and using a "think for yourself" attitude that is an Indian tradition, or that is how it looks like from the outside..

    A fantastically made documentary on the Indian Scientists who upheld India's name in international arena of cutting edge science at that time, contributing in the branches of science which are not only highly competitive but also demand creative excellence at a very high level. And that too at an age when India was under British rule, struggling for its own independence. With limited means Bose, Raman, Saha scaled heights by sheer dint of their talent, intelligence and creativity, contributing to quantum physics, which was on its wake at the time and helped build its foundation. As Dr. Partha Ghosh, himself a reputed physicist, in the documentary, pointed out that without bosons known as the force carrying particles, the whole Universe may collapse; from which one may infer how significant and important the contribution is! Every text book in Physics now talks about bosons, Raman effect and Saha's equation. These physicists worked under conditions which were not conducive anyway at all at that time in India and in comparison was no where near the conditions for doing science that was available in whole of Europe, but that could not deter them! They made significant contribution contribution to physics and had put India in world map. They showed that Indians can do science at such dizzy height, addressing fundamental questions in Physics. These are examples which should make every Indian proud! Now India should make forays into the basic science research for which there is no dearth of talents. Besides focusing on technologies- which can not be neglected in anyway- there must be policies to bring real talents who have knack and love for basic, fundamental research in science. Not any scientifically sounding quasi wishy-washy science which is nothing but fashionable nonsense, some of which have gained some acceptance world over now, as far as the observation goes! Giving real importance on Research in real, hard science which Bose, Saha and Raman did! This is very very important! And disseminating true scientific temper through all means and every available channels! If people are not made to understand how valuable researching in real fundamental science is, real advancements, progress and thereby the whole country will face problems. If concentrated and sustained focus is given on fundamental research it will sure yield long term benefit and results. Advanced countries long understood the importance of basic science research and that's the reason they have advanced themselves in the first place! So no wonder they are ahead of us in many areas! After Bose, Saha and Raman we also had very good scientists like Bhaba, Sarabhai and others. Even few Nobel Prize winners have Indian lineage, mostly Indian born. Who did not lament, "only if he were an Indian citizen still at that time!" when S. Chandrasekhar won Nobel Prize in Physics for his immense contribution in Black Hole research? There are other examples like this Har Gobind Khorana, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan... few on the list what might have been. So Besides being proud and knowing that India has no dearth of talents now is the time when one should address the problems which is hindering real research in basic science and remove them at any cost leaving time killing futile politicking and engaging in debate and fighting over trivial social political or religious issues aside.We have had enough! Yes issues related with humanity and human conditions should be dealt forthwith and resolved by good administration in place and people who are adept in dealing with this no doubt but with good intentions and quality. On both of these fronts progress can march forward simultaneously. Thanks to Director Raja Choudhury the director of this documentary for making such a good documentary! Thoroughly delighted and thrilled! And oh! Dr. Partha Ghosh's passion has shown through whenever he spoke. At this age it is wonderful to see how passionate heis even now! Salute and respect to him as well. thanks to entire team of the documentary. Thank you.

    We need more of such films in India (also in regional Indian languages), inspiring Indians to science and technology, history, culture and rich world heritage. Just like PBS series in USA. More and more we educate Indians can reduced major current challenges such as corruption, and population growth. Having no strict govt. control like in China, spreading knowledge is the way wise solution to India's current issues. If India does better, world does much better. Scientists and wisdom is one caste/religion. Knowledge has nothing to do with denying God or totally accepting him! All the scientific progress is in search of human origin and our universal standing in this cosmic world. Science is not profit or loss and technology is an offspring of science. Science originates searching for truth relentlessly!

    Calcutta University or University of Calcutta being the oldest multi disciplinary university in Asia has churned out countless intellectuals in field of science, humanities & arts... Its still considered the creme de la creme of India's intellectual community.... Colleges which are/were affiliated to CU like Presidency, St. Xavier's, Serampore, Asutosh, Scottish Church, Calcutta Medical College, BE college & most importantly the holy grail of Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee's life - "The University College of Science & Technology" famously called Rajabazar Science College shaped our country today in forefront of science & technology... University of Calcutta is the only university to have given 5 noble laureates, 1 academy award winner & 1 dirac medal winner in India... Even today, India's most accomplished physicist who has won "The breakthrough prize in foundation Physics" for his work on String Theory, an awardee of Padma Shree & Padma Bhusan & a royal society fellow London is none other than a CU alumni (Dr. Ashoke Sen)...

      When I wrote this - "What a scientific filthy rich heritage India has been having!", I wrote of all 125 crores people including all the religions, castes, creeds, colors, regions or else of India. And you talked only about your Muslim religion! That is the difference between us!
      When Muslims went to Iraq first converted it in to Islam in 15 years. When you went to Iran first, converted it in to Islam in 17 years. When you entered first in Egypt, converted it in to Islam in 21 years. When first Muslims entered in to 'Bharat Varsa' before about 1,000 years, you could convert only 12% of its population in to Islam up until now!! You call it only "muslim Indian heritage"? Just think simply.
      When you have been saying the word "Kafir", that it self is not working towards you goal of conversion in India.
      Only vested interest people of India took wrong advantage of its caste system. It has never been prescribed, practiced and suggested by the Hindu main stream people, the way caste system of India has been projected wrongly by other countries.

    Physics is my most favorite subject. I studied Physics (Quantum Energy) and could not understand anything. Finally after 30 years of research of "OM" i discovered what is Quantum Energy. All this I have written in my book, "Cosmic Super Highway" yet to be published.
    Fundamental Equations
    Einstein Equation: E = MC²
    Einstein had said, “Energy can neither be created nor it can be destroyed, but it can be converted from one form to another”.
    Who controls and sustains this energy?
    COSMIC SUPERHIGHWAY EQUATION
    (Spiritual) Energy Equation: CE = (C1 x C2) ^ P
    CE = Cosmic Energy
    (Measured in number of strands)
    C1 = Number of Channels Value: 0 ≤ C1 ≤ 3
    C2 = Number of Chakras Value: 0≤ C2 ≤ 7
    P = Auspicious Number Value: 0≤ P ≤ 108
    This is the equation through which we may soar from finite to infinite in the Kingdom of the CREATOR. the Superpower, to discover our place in the universe to become a shareholder of the infinite cosmic wealth to enjoy our freedom, peace, joy & bless.
    The human intelligence has not invented any instrument to know the existence of the Creator rather the Creator has blessed the humanity to experience the Creator of the creation within us through awakening of the Kundalini in the “Sacrum”.

      Once I just gave a thought n found this energy law similar to India's one ancient law...
      JUST CONSIDER:
      ATMA(spirit)= energy

      dats how energy behaves....

      Inder Cheema Can you explain what your theory is about?

    • @msgcheckout
      @msgcheckout 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow incredible! You smashed the equation, indeed it confirms that God is some kind of intelligent spiritual energy or we can even say entity (who resides both inside and outside our universe boundary, hence he is everywhere, in an invisible dimension and being invisible himself, spiritual energy does not have a form or shape or limited size, it is infinite) and has influence over the invisible energy that is filled up in space, we can for sure call it dark energy, from which God's spiritual energy interacted or influenced or commanded this dark energy, not all of it, but some of it, to form a universe, so when God said let there be creation, the dark energy exploded into action and formed our universe, and for sure now there can be other universes too, since dark energy is infinite and beyond our univeres and so can come under God's spiritual energy to form other universes. This abundant energy then formed solid matter and ended up creating our universe, though we do not have any instruments, that can define God or see God, we have enough intelligence with which we can logically see the presence of God, as being in eternal existence, being there as an intelligent spiritual energy. , just as Energy cannot be destroyed nor created therefore in the same manner Spiritual energy cannot be created nor destroyed, both God as a spiritual energy co-existed with universal energy and God's spiritual energy can influence universal dark energy ( universal energy is energy in empty space, the fact space is not empty but filled with abundant energy, it is this energy that God commanded or influenced to form material world, and physical dimension and our physical universe by transformation of this universal energy. So now we know that God is the spirit and intellect energy that can and has influenced dark energy to create universe.
      E= MC2
      CE = cosmic energy . well done Mr.
