Absolutely fantastic machine. I used to race an 3.4 Alvis special with the VSCC and was lucky enough to win a few races but it was never as quick as this car. This probably gives the ERA's a run for their money! Thanks Tom for the upload. Wonderful.
Yes, undoubtedly black livery lends an added dimension of sinister purposefulness, ....just ask Whitney Straight about his black Maser. (nowadays in Bira blue ) , Ralph Lauren's ex-Trossi SSK, and of course Brescia Bug.Black Bess ; in my eight decades I scarcely recall an Alvis with such a goosebump-inducing exhaust rasp, ...not unlike an 8C Alfa or indeed an ERA....
I had a customer, a really nice guy who had two Alvis and they were a beauty to be hold. TBH I had never heard of them at the time but you could tell even though I knew nothing about them that they were something very special.
While since I've seen Steve Berry , as hyper as ever , mad as a ship's cat. Just the bloke to cast an eye of the superb Alvis. Agree as below, this video could of been longer. Great stuff.
There have been talks about demonstrating the Alvis at VSCC Spring Start however I'm already book in something else. That wouldn't stop a new owner from snapping her up and entering.
I'm wondering, with my 'standard' Riley Special, that even if it does have VSCC papers, isn't it just cheating slightly to pretend rhis is a 1930 Alvis? Although, that might also be in the "ethos" of competition!
No music. You're learning! ERA's are few and far between, so if you wanted the next best thing and you had some cash, i guess you'd build this. ERA would be marginally quicker, slightly more power, but this doesn't fall too far short. Sounds the same, must be a straight six. Rather nice. Preselecting gearbox?
Plenty of methanol racecars that start cold with no assistance. Or a little bit of petrol down carby throats or injection stacks. Once started they are fine for the meeting. I know someone running a 13-1 Chev as a 'daily driver' on methanol. None of this farting around with plugs etc.
And then the driving video is full with wind noise and muffled exhaust noise... I have done better with a GoPro on a chinmount using the in-build microphone...
This video was too short , what a beautiful car looks more special than a blower Bentley and should be driven every day, I know I would
Lovely Alvis. I have many photos of Mac competing with it over the years. Great memories.
Roy here here, great memories.

It is a wonderful car, can't wait to see it with a new owner being used as intended.

@@Birashanuman She sound and looks fabulous, I just love the spirt of flames on overrun......
Lucky Man, that.
I hope the car sees plenty of use, and good roads ahead!
Oh my.... Lovely! What a car, what a sound.
What an awesome car and what a delightful video - thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your positive comment, will keep them coming.

Mechanical marvel, sounds otherworldly 👌🏻😎
Yes. Otherworldly. Seems to idle just fine, with the perfect mechanical overtones. What a car.
My uncle had a supercharged Le Mans Front-wheel Drive. He's passed on now but I hope his son still has it.
Superb video, epic car.
Thank you, I agree with you on all counts…

If Berry is the presenter, he needs to interrupt the guest less.
WONDERFUL
Bloody lovely.....
I totally agree!
Thank you gents, would you like to see more content like this with Steve and I.

You’re welcome, move videos to follow I hope.
wow. absolutely love that.
Would like to see , maybe a day at a track and open it up . Great looking car !
Yes Iv'e got the rev counter and a photo of my dads 1934 speed twenty thats all.
I don't know anything about Alvis's, but that engine sure sounds like it has a gear driven supercharger.
They have tried gears, but 100% chain now.
Great video and looks a very exciting special car.
Hopefully it will be at MM or April VSCC ?

Wow!
Brilliant title
What a magnificent piece of machinery,.Who is the bloke in the tweed jacket? he get's in the way.
Our Steve Berry, he's a credit.....
It sounds powerful. With almost no weight and 280 BHP it should really move and this was in 1930.
I can confirm it is no slouch..... `and that sound.

2:40 😮😳
Someone had fun with extreme audio panning. I feel dizzy.
what is the red car
It is a very rare Frazer Nash Targa Florio MkII. Well spotted.
is this for sale?
Yes it is, are you interested?
Thanks. Who do I contact for more info?

All gone now. Even Norton and Jaguar are owned by the Indians.
Pay backs a bitch.

Nice one Tom. Let's hope it helps to sell the car. Chris
Me too, want to be enjoyed as intended.
"Driven" By Tom.... Cue 7 Minutes of NO DRIVING followed by 1 Minute of driving.... yaay.
Belt screeching
You are clearly unfamiliar around superchargers : suggest you attend a few vintage races/hillclimbs

Thank you for your feedback, I will endeavour to improve it was our first go in this style. We were using a gopro on the car.
Create body panels and glass top, you've got an 1930's Batmobile 😮
