Well, I will be sticking around because I believe in your channel. I am happy that you're getting this opportunity. I mean, it's a pretty smart move on BioWare's behalf. Getting your considerable talents on board aside, it's probably worth hiring you for the optics alone.
Honestly you coming back as a consulting force sounds super exciting. I am a huge Bioware fan and believe you can produce truly magical stories and games, can't wait to see whats in store with the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Wish you the best of luck!
Its always great to see the OG return to lend his expertise to a franchise he helped create in the first place. I'm not gonna lie, I have been feeling quite a bit of anxiety around Dread Wolf, due to the lack of gameplay actually shown outside of leaks. The fact you are going to be part of it puts me at ease Mark.
Wow I had no idea you have a TH-cam channel. This is seriously cool! As a fan of Dragon Age, I'm beyond excited, but I also hope the game's development treats you and its devs kindly.
Really excited to hear you are working with the DA:D devs. Also glad you are keeping the channel, you are teaching us so much about the gaming industry!
So excited when I saw the news yesterday! So many of us care deeply about DA and hearing you're going to there brings a big comfort level to my feelings about Dreadwolf.
my first thoughts were "LETS FUCKING GOOOOO". but really, i even have some hope for dreadwolf now. we're all so glad to have you back, even if you're back for a little bit
I would be interested in hearing you talk about the change in tone of the dragon age games over the years, from origins to inquisition. I always liked how origins was a dark and gloomy setting where the player "can't save everyone" and may have to choose a "less bad" option for allies. If you already have, which video might I find it in?
I saw this last night and my friend and I screamed. Your vision/work behind the first 3 games has been a huge inspiration to me and many others. This makes me so happy because it means the legacy/past o DA will be respected while giving us another timeless rpg classic that will be an unforgettable adventure. I wish you luck and success in your journey. ❤🎉 As for me? I'm not going anywhere. 😊
I absolutely will be sticking around, your videos and and insight are just really neat! I hope you have a great time with the consulting role! (*Cough cough* suggest the people want mabari back please and thank you)
Super exciting news Mark! To know that a wise veteran like yourself is back consulting on the game fills me with confidence. Can't wait to see more (when you are allowed to talk about it!)
Yes!! I am so excited for you to be consulting on Dreadwolf. Thank you!!! I'll definitely keep watching as well, and looking forward to livestreams in the far future.
Great to see you on board for the dread wolf project. Having more people that know the dragon age working on the game gives us all hope. I would rather see you guys take your time to make a great story, than to have it pushed before it's finished. With you on board, there's hope.
Great news and looking forward to Dreadwolf. I've been having so much fun watching your videos and getting a taste of what goes into making games. Makes my gaming experience so much better. I'll for sure be sticking around for all of your future content.
This is awesome! I've been a fan of you and the teams you've worked on since my older cousin gave me this giant cd box set with a brown background and a skull with red glowing eyes. Baldur's Gate. Bioware inadvertently introduced me into what a real story in a video game could be. That was over 20 years ago. It took another studio about that long to rival your old teams amazing work then. Also Boo. You cannot forget Boo and Minsk! Thank you(and the rest of the amazing people) for the wonderful stories and experiences you've crafted over the years and definitely good luck on Dreadwolf. I wish you and the rest of Bioware the best. If I had to imagine I'm not the only one rooting for your success, because at this point, I've been playing Bioware games for over 20 years and I doubt I'm alone. Garrus might not be as popular as Mario but it doesn't mean he or the rest of the characters your teams have crafted are not as beloved. Have a great one!
Happy to hear you'll be involved and happy to hear the channel will still be uploaded on. Very much enjoy the playthrough videos as well as the informative videos too!
I think it is great for both parties for you to be involved. You were there from the beginning and encountered then overcame multiple development challenges. And it is nice that you will continue to have input into the series even if not in a lead role.
So happy that you're back on the franchise, even if it is just for this title or just as consultant. It makes me glad to know someone that has been there since the early days is back again to help with the experience and talent, and keep things 'tonally' in step with the franchise itself, so to speak. It's great!
My only Dragon Age Dreadwolf question is… can we ask the team to please give us an update trailer or video of some kind on the gameplay? Anything that isn’t another Solas teaser because Solas is no longer new information.
Glad to see you're taking a consult role vs being an EP, it's reassuring in a way they are using you as an asset to follow/honor the game world and story.
Glad to see you back on the team, Mr. Darrah! I'm sure it will be an exciting time for you and nice to see your old co-workers. Is it possible for you to make 2 videos in the future: One where you talk about what you do as a consultant in general (consultant in the game dev industry isn't something I'm familiar with), and one WAY later where you talk about exactly what you did for Dreadwolf? I think your viewers would be fascinated by both topics. Thank you, and congratulations!
Good luck! Sounds like you'll be able to bring a very important perspective to the team, and I know a lot of DA fans have missed having you on the project so I expect this news will excite the fandom quite a lot! Meanwhile, I'll have time to watch your videos in my backlog. :)
Thank you for coming back!! I hope you and the team don't overwork yourselves, I can imagine it's getting a bit hectic over there. Can you pass along that the fans want you guys to get a nice raise?
@@MarkDarrah No thank you! I’ve been a die-hard fan since Dragon Age first came out and I replay each one religiously. They’ve been a huge part of my life, and I am forever thank for you and everyone who has brought the games to life.
Glad to hear you will help out with dreadwolf. Dragon age has been a huge part of my childhood and from the rumors I’ve been hearing for a while, the team can use all the help they can get to make this game right. I really hope we get another BioWare masterpiece with dreadwolf because gosh it’s been a long time since the last one…
Yesss! ❤ definitely sticking around for the rest of your content but super excited that you will still get to lend your expertise to one of my favorite gaming franchises!
Very happy to hear that videos will still continue! You always gave a really good insight to game development and I have learned so much from you. Good luck with DAD and I can't wait to see what Bioware come up with!
"If you're seeing this, you're probably already aware" no omg, seeing this video in my subscriptions was 100% the first I'd heard of this. Anyway, excited to hear about the consultation (and that there are backlog videos to be uploaded while you're busy!)
Hi Mark! You've helped in so many unexpected areas of everyday workspace for me. I keep referencing your content in management, tech limitations and scope, tech indistry challenges. Dragon Age was just bridge to find your channel. Thanks for passing along indepth knowledge and congrats!
As a fan of Bioware I'm glad to see you on board and wish you and the team good luck! I hope you can help them get over their dependence on Bioware magic. I would hate to hear a year from now that the Mass Effect team is being brought on to help finish Dragon Age because it's an "all hands on deck" situation. I feel that robbing Peter to pay Paul is partly responsible for Andomeda not meeting everyone's expectations.
Congrats! Regarding Dreadwolf, would you be able to speak about accessibility settings Bioware is looking at, even if in a more general way? This is something that is not often in the marketing for games.
I just want to say Thank you so much for coming back to bioware. I know that you are just consulting but is so kool to see you back 🎉 Have fun and thank you ❤
This almost made me cry. I have enjoyed watching your videos and getting your thoughts on some of the stuff that worked, that didn’t work, and what could help improve the quality of the next game. I’ve already been excited but this totally added more to my excitement.
Hey Mark! Now that you have the ear of the project leads I have a small suggestion: It would be great if in DA:D when you hover over a dialogue choice the game would tell you what you are about to say (at least the first sentence) in form of a "subtitle". Deus Ex: Mankind Divided does this for example. Other than that I wish you and the team the best!
I realize there's always going to be some things you can't speak about, but I hope that after the game is out and your involvement is completed, you can speak about some of your experiences coming back to work as a consultant vs. executive producer and how/if it shapes your thought and approach towards your contributions to the game and team.
So happy that you’re back on the Dragon Age team! I have faith in the game already but I feel even more confident in its success knowing that you’ll be helping steer it to launch. ❤
my dream would be to finally have a female qunari as a companion at best as a mage which makes things even more spicy and interesting. oh and a crow companion aswell as a shapshifter would be really nice to see IMHO but hopes dies last, right?
Wow I’m so excited you’ll be part of the process of making dreadwolf!! Dragon age inquisition is my all time favorite game and I just admire you so much!! Hope working on it goes well🎉
This is exciting news! I’m sure I am speaking for more than just myself when I say that we understand how this will change the way you interact with or discuss (or not discuss as the case may be) DA:D on this channel and totally respect it. I’ll definitely be here for all the videos you do post :)
If you’ll be passing along something to BioWare, I’d be interested to know if the Orlesian Warden-Commander exists as a character in the world. We hear about the The HoF, but nothing from the Warden-Commander. And not being able to port your save into DA: Awakening with a dead HoF, makes me question how canon they actually are. Along with not being able to define them in the Keep. Excited to have you working on the game, and happy to see you’ll continue working on your channel.
Cannot wait for this game!! Thank you for all your work over the years. Definitely sticking around for more content, already started binging on your older videos. Also, I know it's so unlikely because of the world state Origins could've been left in, but I would LOVE to see a cameo of our Grey Warden from DA:O in this game. The letter in Inquisition just made me want more :(
Unsure if this question would be allowed, or even if its been answered. But I absolutely have to know if world states are going to continue into Dreadwolf. I'm down for gameplay changes, but I hope BioWare knows the franchise identity hinges on World States and quality Story telling through the relationships we create within the game. I can't imagine they would snuff out all of the Solas Romance lovers like that.
@Mark Darrah on Games in the mean time, I'm new to your channel and I'm nothing if not curious. Thanks for all the work you've put into Dragon Age over the years!
How exciting! Congratulations! I am very much looking forward to Dreadwolf, but I'm also glad that BioWare doesn't feel like it's trying to rush the game like they had with DA: 2. I'm willing to be patient for a great game.
I’ll be around, it’s cool to get your perspective and knowledge about game mechanics and design 👍 I will just throw out a question In dragon age inquisition there was some elements of destruction “like walls or rock formations getting destroyed when fighting a dragon” you got the feeling “oh shit I am fighting a strong enemy here!” Is it possible to see more of this in coming games?
Dragon Age II was the first Bioware game I played and then Origins based on King Alistair's cameo in II. Knowing that you are involved gives me some extra confidence. (Can you have extra confidence?).
great news! I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for the series so far, it really has been in the corner of my mind for almost two decades now. I'm foaming at the mouth just thinking about da4!
this is an absolute blessing upon the world. I am so happy and grateful that you rejoined the dragon age team! Dragon age brought so much light into my life during dark times and I'm eternally grateful to the entire dev team for that. This game means the absolute word to me and while I'm impatient and very excited for the new dragon age and want it asap I am also really glad they haven't been putting a date on it either because all I can think about is how much better the game is going to be with all of the refining touches on it and years of love put into it rather than a rushed mess. This is going to be the best dragon age experience we've ever had and the fact that the mass effect team is helping out brings me even more joy because Mass Effect is also one of my favorite series of all time and I'm eternally grateful for this news! Dragon Age changed my life in so many ways and the fact that everything is lining up in this way makes me really really happy because dragon age 2 and inquisition were great in many ways but still somehow fall flat compared to origins. I feel that origins really did something so special that just can't be replicated and they need to bring back the magic of origins they really hit a home run with origins and set this huge expansive world and set the standards for the game so so high it's alot of pressure to build upon a game of that magnitude but I see that they really truly want to do it flawlessly this time around and I am so so ready and I literally had tears in my eyes watching this because it makes me so happy when companies really care and put the actual time effort and love into developing the game that we really want to see. I've replayed origins like 15 times at this point and I'd rather replay a game numerous times that's amazing than even finish a game that falls flat one time. This could not be more spectacular news.
Been following your channel from its start. Congratulations Mark! Thank you for the amazing content so far and I'll be looking forward to future content as well as Dreadwolf!
I enjoy your content and will continue supporting the channel. I hope it's been a good opportunity for you to get back in touch with some old colleagues/friends and feed your passion for a franchise you dedicated years to help build.
Best of luck on the positon! I'm excited for your contributions and look forward to seeing how your perspective helps the game along. Keep yourself and your co-workers sane, and tackle that technical debt before it has a chance to get rooted in the project!
Oh wow! This is actually incredible news for me. Dragon age is a universe that I want to see more of the universe. The lessons that came from certain choices and interactions in those games were actually quite profound. BioWare creates this fantastical level of detail that is unparalleled by anything else. You are an artist Mr. Mark Darrah whether you believe so or not. You are influencing some of the most incredible art I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying.
I hope working on Dreadwolf goes well for you! Have fun!

How exciting! Congratulations! I am very much looking forward to Dreadwolf, but I'm also glad that BioWare doesn't feel like it's trying to rush the game like they had with DA: 2. I'm willing to be patient for a great game.
Quality is 1st on this one
I’ll be around, it’s cool to get your perspective and knowledge about game mechanics and design 👍
I will just throw out a question
In dragon age inquisition there was some elements of destruction “like walls or rock formations getting destroyed when fighting a dragon” you got the feeling “oh shit I am fighting a strong enemy here!”
Is it possible to see more of this in coming games?
I'll pass that along
Great news! Super excited for what you guys have in store! Good luck to you and the team ❤
Thank you
Dragon Age II was the first Bioware game I played and then Origins based on King Alistair's cameo in II. Knowing that you are involved gives me some extra confidence. (Can you have extra confidence?).
thank you
These are amazing news! Great to have one of the OG's back!
Lots of old school DA inside the team
@@MarkDarrah I'm aware. Just good to hear is all. :)
great news! I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for the series so far, it really has been in the corner of my mind for almost two decades now. I'm foaming at the mouth just thinking about da4!
I'd love to see you work at Obsidian someday tho 🙊
Thank you
@@MarkDarrah while I have you, that twitter "feud" with greg smellis makes me laugh to this day, thank you sm
This all makes sense, good luck!
Thank you!
I wish you the best as a consultant on Dragon Age Dreadwolf. I'm looking forward to the final product. When that time comes.❤
Thank you
this is an absolute blessing upon the world.
Thank you!
I am pleased enough that you're back in some capacity. Makes me feel better about things, to be honest. Godspeed, man.
Thank you!
Mark! I'm so excited for the game and future video about your journey with the dreadwolf. Good luck, love you!
Thank you
Been following your channel from its start. Congratulations Mark! Thank you for the amazing content so far and I'll be looking forward to future content as well as Dreadwolf!
Thank you
I enjoy your content and will continue supporting the channel. I hope it's been a good opportunity for you to get back in touch with some old colleagues/friends and feed your passion for a franchise you dedicated years to help build.
Thanks for sticking with me
I think everyone here is happy and even relieved to see you are now supporting DA4, Mark!
Thank you
that is great news! i will miss your livestreams but you should do whats the best for you. Stay awesome please!!
Hopefully I can find a spot for them.
They take up a lot of time but are lower effort than a video.
OMG YES YES YES this is amazing news!!!!!!!!! now even more excited for the DA:D
Thank you
Best of luck on the positon! I'm excited for your contributions and look forward to seeing how your perspective helps the game along. Keep yourself and your co-workers sane, and tackle that technical debt before it has a chance to get rooted in the project!
Thank you
So exiting! very keen on the new with you back in it :) hope you didn't let them leave sandal out of this one, haha, miss my little enchantment buddy
Soon
@@MarkDarrah 👀👀👀
Excited for you and the game!!
Thank you
This is super great news! Hope you have a good time with the new gig.
I hope so too!
Thank you!
