There are quite a lot of TH-cam videos around about the Hercules Inpulse 500, but none of them come close to your very thouroughful and extremly helpful video. Plus, you took up on both softwares, DJUCED and Serato Lite (and even Pro) to allow amateur DJs to make their own decision about what to use best and how to take out the most of it. Fantastic stuff!

I use virtual DJ and I love this controller. My other controller that I use is the Hercules JogVision. Both work really well with Virtual DJ. Great review DJKit you da man bro. Keep up the great work. God Bless.

You can use the two filter/fx knobs to apply two effects to a track by changing which track the knob is affecting.
Just ordered a Mixtrack Pro FX yesterday... I might exchange it for this.
I def think this is cooler than the Mixtrack Pro FX!
To me, the platinum fx seems better, un prefer the paddle fx, the long pitch fader, the big high quality jogwheels with screen...

Nice review. I am using start up my DJ with Hercules DJ Inpulse 200. Now I am thinking to get this model to improve my DJ life. Djuced software is nice and easy to use.

Real good video I have been using virtul Dj and the Hercules mixers since the first one it was so small . But I loved it no more records to haul around then I added external hard drive and game over .4 of there mixer now I’m using the jogavision I love it but it was time for a update I think I used it for five years now or more no problems at all . Now I waiting for my Impulse 500 and with updated program all the new updates . One more thing the first mixer no power source USB powered it looked more like lunchbox then a mixer thanks again take care Selector Ras Kalahari.
Even with this information I'm conflicted on which software to use.

Het fijne van hercules is hun platform. Daar kan je gratis muziek downloaden elke 1e vrijdag van de maand. Ook 10 tal sample packs kan je allemaal gratis downloaden als je account aan maakt. En is allemaal gratis. Voor beginners zijn er ook lessen geïntegreerd in de djuced.
Zeker voor beginners is dit de nummer 1 controller. En voor gevorderden zeker nog erg interessant. Ook regelmatig updates met verbeteringen en verbeteringen die door gebruikers gemeld worden. Voor dit geld heb je echt alles in huis

I got a question for you. Can you access the sub crates on Serato Dj pro using the browser knob on this controller without having to use touch the actual laptop to do it thanks
I own it and I must say that is a grat controller! I really love it. Can you please tell me how can I work the pads as drum pads? Please ^_^
I use the same software and Decks , but the sampler isn’t lit up and doesn’t work on that software where as before it had loads of things pre saved on them. On Sarto dj the samples worked fine

I really like that energy feature with DJuced. Does Serato Pro have that feature? And where on this controller do I go out to a mixer?
That feature is specific to DJuced I'm afraid! The outputs are either 1/4" jack or RCA.
Do you have to use this with a laptop or can you just use your phone ?
excellent. just "downgraded" to this from my pioneer ddj-sx2. this old man is tired of lugging that heavy beast around. this DJUCED seems interesting and thinking of giving it a goo. anyone any tips on importing crates from SDJ to DJUCED?

Serato light or djuced? What do people reckon? I’m not sure
After using this for a few months on Serato Lite and Pro I find the Djuced software does everything I need for home mixing etc. On the software screen you can select addition fx and layer them with the fx button on the controller to have a few on at a time if you need them. I cant fault it only if you want to scratch on it its a not for that. btw I have a a set of 1210's for scratching so maybe Im spoiled! For mixing and everything else I cant fault it for the price it punches.

@@djkit Another bonus is the bottom 4 pads on Serato Pro do pretty much the same regardless which mode is selected. On DJuced you get 8 of each hotcues, loops, slicers and samples which is grea vs 4 on Serato. The lack of balanced RCA outs is not reallyan issue, at this price point it's no required considering my mixer was 2x the price of this. I spent a lot of time watching reviews and comparing it to the SB3 and Ddj400 and glad I got this, packed full of features for beginner to intermediate and more. Does everything well just not for scratching. Lol

@@djkit Cool, I thought when your hit shift and select a function that the bottom 4 pads for the same across the board ie reverse play etc. Maybe that's just lite mode (I only used it for a month as a test) I would consider Serato Pro as part of the Serato ecosystem as I could and dvs to my setup then. 👌 thanks
I also use djuced. Is the first Day of purchasing. Seems ok. To many options for soft... lite, PRO, virtual dj... I prefer the one for him, from hercules.

HELP!!!!! Everytime I load a song into DJuced, it's BPM is way off. Is there a setting to prevent this. They all seem to be like +40.

I would say for the money,size,features and the fact you have 2 types of software with the choice to upgrade to serato pro if you want to take things futher yhen the 500 all day long. I would leave pioneer out until you get further up the models. Although Pioneer have the name the entry models are not great.

Do the jogweels feel the same as the ones on the DJ Control Inpulse 200 and 300?
I'm on the market for my first controller. This one, as well as the new Numarks, are awesome but I really don't want to pay extra for Serato Pro and every little plugin and quirk after a couple of months. What are your thoughts on this DJUCED software, is it any good? I think Rekordbox is a massive advantage out of the box and that's why I'm still leaning towards the DDJ-400... please advise
To be honest, I haven't used DJuced enough to advise, however, it does have advantages on this controller with the tutorial functions for beginner DJs. Rekordbox is a great software as you don't have to upgrade to pro or anything. If you do go with Serato, it is so worth upgrading to Pro IMO!

Hi, very good video. Ok so I have always been courius about djing and how it works. I love music and love to play piano, in fact that I’m acually making music in Logic Pro,
But however I think I’m going to buy this inpulse 500, but the thing is that I dont have and real dj speakers. But i have a bluetooth speaker with built in battery. (JBL PARTYBOX 110)
Do you think I can use that speaker and plug in in the dj controller, or is it something I should think about?

Hey Melvin, thanks for your comment! Yes you can use that speaker, just plug the DJ Controller in via the Aux input on the speaker!

I was looking for a unit to get back in to DJing at first I was looking at the Pioneer DDJ 400 then comes along the Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX and then this comes along.
Now I have no idea what to go for, please HELP people!!!!!!

DDJ 400 impossible to find at its 249 price..out of stock everywhere due to everyone djing at home right now. Going for 500 on ebay.
@@hidalgohouse3815 This is what I have found so started to lean towards the Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX.
If availability is a problem for the 400 I would say the Numark if You have scratch ambitions but You will need a small mixer for both out if gigging, the Hercules has better output options, a little bigger, I like the position of pitch/tempo faders better but they are a little shorter. The Hercules looks like a mid level $600-$800 controller.

No. None of the DJ softwares support music from TH-cam.

I bought this inpulse 500 but the djuicwd lags or doesn't work well ,am sure is something about the computer am using it with right now ... O have an imac 2015 I gues qith Sierra, 20gb ram, 1 tb memory so I really think the djuiced has got some kibdno f bugs? Would it be better if I dj with serato light?
Definitely give Serato a go and if that lags too then you will know it's a problem with your laptop!

Hey DJKit, does the beat match guide work in Serato Pro? I'm a beginner DJ but purchased the pro version so I could use the record function, so the beat match guide would be great for me

You won't need it, between the bmp display and the beats/bars on screen it's easy.
Beat guide works, in serato dj pro, virtual dj, and djuced. The guide doesn't work in djay pro or serato lite
U can record in djuced.

It depends what you are using it for! If you are learning to DJ, DJuced offers more tuition, however, Serato is more common amongst other controllers if you were to ever upgrade.

Yes it controls djay pro 100% BUT djay pro controls ~66% of its hardware features.
Djay pro AI leaves alot of the nice little functions of the Hercules 500 unused. Those little LEDs we love to see lighting up especially in dark environments are OFF
1. The ring LED on the rotary selector OFF
2. The 2 big white deck 1/2 activity indicator LEDs OFF
3. The 4 little white-lit FX buttons OFF
4. The green lit writings for TEMPO & BEAT ALIGN OFF
5. THE 8 white/red directional arrows OFF
6. The white-lit Quantize button OFF

@@djkit is not an accurate controller even if Im using Serato Pro, so now Im returning it to Amazon. I recomend to buy equipments with recongnized brands like Roland, Pioneer, Native Instruments.
I bought mine this week. Far from a waste. It’s different, with some unique features but definitely not a waste.
