    Bought my ‘17 Fiesta ST about 6 months ago. I was actually going into the dealership to buy a Focus ST and was seriously 100% dedicated to that. As we were walking back after a test drive in the FoST, I saw this little white FiSt and I asked my salesman about it and he offered another test drive. I’m so glad I stopped for just a moment, because I honestly had a lot more fun in the FiST than the FoST. Not to say the FoST isn’t a great car, it’s phenomenal, but I fell in love with the FiST. Not only was it significantly cheaper, I think the FiST is more of a underdog and is overshadowed by the FoST and almost now even more so with the introduction of the Focus RS. I say if you want to go and buy a FoST, at least give the FiST a try. Who knows, maybe you’ll change your mind like I did!
    Also, great review! Everything spot on 👍🏻

    Awesome review brother. I really want one of these. I was debating between this and a new Honda Civic EX-T (manual, of course) but I'm hearing so many positive things about the FiST that I hope I can get my hands on a '17 model!

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cool Cat I'd 100% go for the Fiesta over the Civic. It'll be a lot more fun to drive and rarer too!

      Cool Cat I have a 2014 Fiesta ST with 49,000 Miles on it and have enjoyed every second of it, every time I hit that Sport Mode Button it puts the biggest smile on my face and I’m 70 years old and have had many cars, but buy far its the most fun car to drive I’ve ever had, great gas mileage too boot, highly recommend this car.

    At around 11:00, you mentioned how there is space when you put the seats down. I went to check out a FiST, and when I put the seats down, I put dj speakers and a lighting rig in the back. There was plenty of space for my full dj rig (foldable table, dj controller, accessory bags). Spacious for cargo when you need it to be.

    Nav is an option. I ordered my 2014 Fiesta ST with Navigation.
    I agree that lack of backup camera is a little disappointing. The Fiesta Titanium gets a backup camera, but it is not an option on the ST.

    Anyone in USA or Canada, PLEASE call or write Ford Customer Service. Tell them we want the all-new generation Fiesta ST and/or Focus ST hatchbacks with MANUAL TRANSMISSION in the U.S./Canadian market. If all their customers are telling them, they'll listen and bring us BACK by popular demand these best-in-class driver's hatches. There's a reason these cars are best-sellers in Europe, they are the best cars to drive in this price range and have the best shifting manual gearbox too! Thank you for your support in this petition effort!

    My friend and I attended the LA Auto show yesterday in Los Angeles. I must say, FORD did a fine job as to making this 1.6 liter pocket rocket. Engine seating...very bolstered seats, if you decide to hit the corners. Simple dash board without all eye soreness of looking at your indicators. For all style, performance price point...all around is a pocket book rocket. Well the only downside is...1.6 litre engine. 1.8 high revving engine with a turbo now your in red-line territory with plenty of tach to play with. FORD, if you are reading this take note..."a big juicy 1.8 liter " under the badge ST will suffice!

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exige 360 Haha not sure if they listened to you about the engine because I think the next generation ST is going to use a 3 cylinder! Still a great car though!

      SuperHollowfied Yeah it's such a shame but there really isn't a huge market for them over here.

    • @imhenry66
      @imhenry66 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exige 360 You had me at “my friend and I...” Signed, grammar nazi. In all seriousness, there’s a 2.0L Focus ST so the 1.6L is a sound decision: Amazing balance of performance and fuel economy. In the US, the current gen of Fiesta ST carries over at least for one more year, so get yours while you can! (FWIW, I’ve owned WRX>Evo>M3>Evo; and the Fiesta ST is the most daily fun I’ve had)

  • @groovymotion5706
    @groovymotion5706 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great Review! Yeah they abandonned the ST for North America due to poor sales. There are none in my area and I see quite a lot of Focus ST! How is the traction/grip? As for the suspension, Ford UK really did an excellent job in order to remove the understeer!

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GroovyMotion Yeah the reason there is such a low amount of understeer and grip is so good is because the Fiesta ST has torque vectoring through braking!

    Nice review. Going to buy an ST next year. I’ve not test driven one yet and have heard the ride is very firm. What are your views?

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Simon Taylor It's definitely firm but I wouldn't say it's particularly punishing. It's a very controlled ride but you feel the road for sure. Hope this helps!

    • @simontaylor3211
      @simontaylor3211 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Motor Minds Productions it does. Thanks for the reply 👍

    • @PhilemonXIV
      @PhilemonXIV 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was concerned about the ride as well prior to my purchase... After owning it for about eight thousand miles I have to say that the ride, as the reviewer said, is pretty firm but it's not intolerable... if you live in an area that has bad roads it might be more of an issue. However, in my opinion the trade-off in a credible handling and balance is definitely worth it for me.

    • @simontaylor3211

    Thank you for a nice overview and report! I own a June 2016 Fiesta St 2 door. Seems that we only have the two (3dr with boot) version in South Africa. And also no sunroof! Only material Recaro seats no leather. Right hand drive and we drive on the left hand side of the road! Greetings from Pretoria South Africa. Oh forgot to mention that I am 55 years old!

    a bone stock Fiesta ST makes around 185 whp and 230 wtq.
    if my automotive guesstimation serves me right, this car makes around 215hp to the crank, pretty solid numbers for such a small car.

    I had a 2015 Fiesta ST and now drive a 2017 Fiesta ST. Beware, the car runs very hot. If you're driving in a hot climate, Water Wetter is basically a must. The 2015 has overheated on me in hot stop and go traffic when heat is above 98 degrees on a regular basis. There are ways to combat this, but its something I wish I knew before I bought my first one.
    From what I understand the 2017 is supposed to have a larger radiator. Not sure if that true.

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephen Thompson I drive a Ford Focus right now and it's definitely more comfortable and practical than the Fiesta. However, I can't speak for the Focus ST since I haven't had the chance to drive one. I'd say expect the Focus ST to be more daily friendly, but if you don't need the extra size the Fiesta ST just might be the better option! Best of luck!

    • @stephenthompson773
      @stephenthompson773 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Motor Minds Productions Thanks for the reply. I’ve been leaning more towards the FoST. My friend had a Focus Titanium before he traded it in for a FRS. It was a very good car in terms of handling. Still considering the FiST because is reminds me of my old R53 MCS. The Mini was definitely the most fun I’ve ever had in a car but I do need the cargo room now that I have a family.

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephen Thompson Definitely Focus ST then! You could also look at a Golf GTI, I've driven plenty of those and they're very well built and versatile, and they look great and fit in anywhere.

    Great review. Do you think these cars are going to depreciate to do you can buy them for under $7000 in 5 years time?

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tommy Audi Citroen Porsche Alfa Rolls Lambo Tesla That's a tough one. Dealerships are already cutting the MSRP on these cars to unload them, I've seen new ones go for $16-$18k. However, since Ford isn't bringing the new ST to the states, there's a good chance the enthusiast market will keep these things from plummeting in value the way most Fiesta's do. Just my two cents 😉

    I just got the sedan version with the dual clutch automatic it hauls ass for a automatic it handles like a go kart and I only have to put 20 bucks in once a week from fuel to empty. It's a awesome little car 120hp but it's so light weight it moves out quick the dual clutch automatic not a slush box it's like driving a manual stick without shifting it's bad ass little pocket rocket and it's the se base model I can only image driving the st manual oh yeah

    News Update, Ford isn’t bringing the Ford Fiesta ST-Line to the States but they have not made the final decision if they will bring the next Gen Fiesta ST to the US. This decision will be made at the Goodwood festival of Speed in July 2018.
    People are confusing the Fiesta ST with the Fiesta ST-Line. 2 different models.

    No need for backup camera...if you can't use mirrors you shouldn't be driving.

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      herchiby 42 of course we don't "need" backup cameras, but they are an awesome safety feature which has been implemented in almost all cars. Ford really should offer one in the Fiesta even if it's just for the sake of staying competitive.

      Motor Minds Productions I agree for sake of consumers. But i like paying attention to my surroundings. Backup cam to me removes the awareness. It's a stick shift. Basic and driver involved. Should be kept that way. Seems hard to find in other vehicles.

      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      herchiby 42 I'm 100% on board with not relying on the camera, I always use my mirrors and look behind me like they used to in the good old days 😂

      @mercoid 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      herchiby 42 ...yep. Glad my wife has it on her Sonata, but me, I’m an old school driver. I survey my surroundings before getting in the car, use mirrors and turn head to look around. And always back up slowly. There never a reason to nail the gas while backing out. 36 yrs driving...no problems

      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      mercoid Yeah neither of my cars have them and I have yet to crash.

    Americans don't like manual transmissions. Most have never driven one. Ford can't give these away. If you're thinking about getting one, now's the time. All the bugs are fixed, and the engine is built to last. People are buying them way below sticker right now. It's the best deal going for a hot hatch.

    I suppose there safe. But how much can you see in a back up camera? How close you are to a vehicle? Your projected path of travel? It would be a "cool" feature on this car. It's probably considered a subcompact car. Stick your face out the window if your that unsure of where you are. Sorry I'm ranting. But why do you need a backup cam on a vehicle like this...I do own one.

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      herchiby 42 Hey all I'm saying is that for the sake of competitiveness and safety of the general market, Ford should offer a backup camera. Skilled drivers may find them redundant, but not everyone on the road is Ken Block 😆

    Not a big fan of your review. When you talk about it steering and cornering ability you completely forget to talk about torque vectoring and how that feels with the added mechanical inside wheel breaking.

    • @MotorMindsProductions
      @MotorMindsProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      brent K It's torque vectoring by braking, so you won't notice it as much as a true torque vectoring system such as what you can get in a Golf GTI.

    • @BernardRossouw
      @BernardRossouw 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah (2010-2018) 2010 Focus ST, 3 clutches (2010-2012), gearbox replacement because dealership failed to replace transmission fluid after clutch replacement (2012).
      5 days after service a fanbelt tore into the cam and had to do a engine recon (2016). After engine recon leaked 6 liters of oil overnight. Replaced sump.
      Vacuum pipe came off. Coolant line puncture. Blown turbo in 2012. Dealership installed boost valve wrong way around and replaced turbo again.
      Keep up the good videos man
