Gina Mitembe I agree with you that the government should not do everything people can do themselves. That’s what I said about the video an American lady made about being at the beach that had trash all in the water and on the shores. People blamed the government and I said the government is not the ones throwing out trash. I’m a firm believer on not waiting on the government. Especially to fix the roads near my place. Even if no one else helps I’ll raise money to do it myself.

People who haven’t travelled don’t realize that all over Mexico, Central and South America… people build concrete walls for security. Also, in the Middle East and Africa. I lived and worked in Kuwait and Qatar and the Arabs always build walls to protect and provide privacy for the members (especially their women) of the family. It use to be a strong all black thriving community until crack hit it from both sides 😂 it’s now being over taken by gentrification. That’s a form of a hood being colonized by outsiders because the insiders can’t seem to get it together anymore. Yes I plan on doing my best. I’ve already placed streetlights on most of the poles leading to my place and on the alternative road. I placed a special LED light in front of my place to shine brighter than the others. The ones that are being built fast are people that live abroad or in other parts of ghana running nice businesses or friends of politicians 🤦🏾‍♂️ sometimes people do want to sell their structures when they feel they can go on. It depends on where your house is at. My house is in a well developed estate with a golf course, a hospital and two private schools. The services are well developed hence very expensive. I bought an existing house for over $200,000 which is now very cheap as properties have really gone up in value. I would have preferred building my own under my own specs but I could not cope with the hussle. Often the land is sold to multiple buyers and you may find yourself in court trying to establish ownership and paying a lot of bribes to do so. You could be paying money into the drain if you don't find the right construction crew, especially if you live abroad during the construction.

One of the thing I remember from a month-long visit to Germany a few years ago was how I was able to find some really, really good deals on food at the grocery story. Usually it was stuff that simply had to be sold that day or thrown away, and it was marked down considerably. If you wanted to, you could simply walk to the grocery store every day, buy whatever was on sale, and just make a day's worth of meals out of that. There's just not an equivalent system where I live in the US. Grocers would rather throw food away than to heavily discount it.

Actually there is waste collection in Ghana. Solid waste collection in Accra is mostly privatized. The city contracts
with 10 waste collection firms that are responsible for all residential,
commercial, and industrial waste generated in their respective collection
    districts.
The city estimates that 88% of waste generated in areas where it
provides collection services is collected. However, waste collection
services are only provided in a limited area; only 40% of households in the city have waste collection bins. Accra is working to increase its waste collection coverage, especially
in low‐income areas of the city. But people will burn their waste. Perhaps you should contact the local council and see what services they have there. Or perhaps start your own company. There are also recycling companies, that you can contact to collect bottles or put a container in your community.

Most American homes dont have any fences or barriers in the front yard, even in challenging neighborhoods. And our use of fences is mostly about proeprty line delineation not security. This is entirely different in Ghana. Lets not conflate a chain link fence with an eight foot wall thats also electrified. Ghanaians live like that becuase they have too. One of the most comments about America is how open we are as a society. This is the exact opposite of that.

Ghana adopted international building codes over the course of 2017/18 in an effort to standardize their buidling codes. There are also municpal codes. However, Ghanaians are willful people and there's a lack of enforcement. Those houses are required to have uniform setbacks for utilities, sidewalks, roads. Big man syndrome keeps the infrastructure development inconsistent and shoddy.

Notice there’s no street lights the same would be do to solve that issue too however it would be Solar’s.. there will have to be the creation of tunnel for water when it rains to prevent flooding there could be a few Man made ponds that will collect the water that will be used for irrigation by farmers..
