With the amount of material that goes through that chopper every year, I am surprised you get that long on some components I remember doing that same work in the 80's on a chopper after doing 800 acres of corn. If you don't keep the machine and always trade it in ya don't have to fix that stuff. My response to the critics. That chopper owes you nothing in my opinion, it deserves what it gets done to it. Keep posting.
I know choppers have big hp and capacity but I’m still amazed at the volume of feed they can put through when I’m driving along watching the feed pouring out of the spout. It’s no wonder stuff wears ehh
Great job keep doing what you are doing with the videos the maintenance you are doing on your chopper is why you can cut as many fields can’t wait to see how you set up the new white truck 👍🚜
The farm and shop work never gets old Andy. The only thing that gets old is having to do some of the same things to my own equipment. Now that gets old.
It may be the same thing again but it never gets old. Your knowledge about all the equipment is amazing. If you are going to replace the hot water heater element again the arse over tea kettle bit was a classic FF&F. Keep em coming Andy.
No one uses stuff as hard a Andy and Hourigan Dairies. John Deere should send them stuff for testing, for free. It would be cheaper and more effective than their operational testing for new products. Andy might have to relocate to Mexico, though.
Ya l like watching u repair so that I can tell u what u did wrong, and u don’t have to listen to my. B.S. LOL. You do a good job Andy, and I enjoy your videos, keep on movin on!
I always like your Content never gets boring. I'm a farm kid. That's unable to be on a farm now. But just really enjoy everything. You And your family do on the farm
My John Deere chopper always wears out parts faster than any other brand. That's because it spends more time in the field chopping, and less time in the shop being broken. 🙂 It'll never break down if ya' just leave 'em in the shed!
Is a farmer who has two pieces of everything to handle my forage for my 80 Calle beef heard I cannot get my mind wrapped around the fact that for the amount of material you put through that chopper you only have one. It is a testimony to the way you folks look after your machinery and take care of things that you put the amount of material you feed to that heard through one chopper
I would say that choppers been really good to you when you fly over the bunks with your drone that's a big area to be filling in with silage I can't imagine a tonnage you put through it since you bought it
I dunno, Repetitive? I don't mind watching it again. I don't mind watching it again. I don't mind watching it again. I don't mind watching it.......... 😮
Hi Andy ! i am working whit you when the camera rolling ,maybe i am seating on my coach but i do not care the job i am whit you Andy all the way . Good job again ! Thanks Andy for your time and everybody have a good day at the farm ! 🙋♂️
Is that the same people who don't understand why you have to put new tires on your car every couple of years? Or why do I have to chance the oil in my car? lol Thank you for another Great video. Cheers
I've been your master observer for some time now. I enjoy the videos and hope to catch a mistake but I'm foiled ever time by your shrude mechanical skills Andy. Keep them coming, I like watching. I mean all of them.
Sure is an enormous amount of material that machine handles in one year! Like someone else commented how you can keep the machine up enough to rely only on one! Thanks for the video
Yes do them over and over again. Great videos. I really like the bar and Parlor build. How many cows are you increasing? Are you running a twin 24 now? Going to a 80 cow rotary is a big jump. We have a dairy in Tillamook OR that just put in a 64-cow rotary.
Wondering, have you ever had to change the shaft bearings on the ends of the cutter drum? Keep up the good work! Show everything each time you do the work Thanks for what you do! JIM ❤
If you run a few thousand tons through any machine, it may wear a little bit. Especially with a Pickup head out in the front. Just the grit from the ground wears stuff out. If you ONLY chopped corn and had that much wear, might be a question of the quality of the components. But picking up cut alfalfa behind a mower and a merger will bring up the grit from the ground. Great video, Andy. I'm still curious about your average daily production from your cows, and I will be interested to see how much they go up when the new parlor and facilities are done. Y'all make great feed, and that means plenty of production. 👍👍
Great work. Question I think you have talked about this however how long does a set of knives last or does it depend on materials being chopped? Thank you Andy. Love you topics.
After you dress new cutters do you go in again and check the actual clearance on each end of the drum with the cutter bar? It seems to me in that way you would ensure the best tool life? Just wondering about this, possibly taking it to another level?? JIM ❤
Have you seen the Krone choppers with the large nurse tank behind it. It chops into the nurse tank, and trucks fill from it very quicklyI'm justst letting you know about it.
Metric measurements again --- so easy . Care and attention to maintenance takes time but well worth it . Not cost effective to have the dealer do that type of maintenance .
Great video Andy it’s never a disappointment watching you working on the chopper! Are we going to see a 2024 in the corn field this year??? Have a great weekend 🍺🍺🍺
I was just looking at Google Map satellite view in the vicinity of Warners NY, Hoag Road, and it shows the timbers that were in place by the power line from last year. And Warners Road is closed across NYS thruway.
had former AC customer in Carlisle ny , one of the first , "maximizer" choppers towed by his AC 180 . bragged a storm about it ; just replace one little $40 knofe and i was going again!! . then one trip , a hidden rock of banch went thru . " i hate this thing ....." 😂😂😂 but it DID show noticeable HP difference .. especially when chopping with 65hp .
Show everything you work on daily , maby people will start to figure out just how much $ everything cost . I'm not a farmer but like to learn from youre videos. Thanks 😊
As a person with a repetitive job I totally understand. Some people might comment that this is indeed boring, clearly these people haven't seen the results of their labor (boring) to a properly operating piece of equipment. I say more boring content!
I've said it before, I'll say it again.... If you would just leave the machines in the shed THEY WOULDN'T WEAR OUT!!!! You insist on taking them out and using them.
People who make comments about wear items obviously have never had a problem with wearing out anything. Wear is wear, no matter what product you own. Duh!
A burn mark on the Mega-Bux Green paint ! Now that's very alarming ! But it's OK, ... surely the NEW parts that will come out of Mexico will be much more ( Mega ) heat resistant as-well-as being of much higher overall quality. Probably have a lifetime guarantee, too.
How many acres a year does that machine cover? How many cubic yards of material are forced through it? friken thing auta have a few worn-out parts. I,m an old retired Dozer operator, and if you ran a dozer over as many acres as that chopper every year you'd be replacing more than a few paddles and wear plates.
I’m surprised you didn’t switch out that chopper. But guessing it’s pre DEF so you keep it going. Unlike your combine that machine is what pays the bills.
I like it . Keep putting it in . Your knowledge and experience is great . I love watch these from Colorado

Lots of abrasives in the environment. You wash your lettuce for a reason.
@@Failure_Is_An_Optionwe do?
You ever see the size of a Horses throat? Not much bigger than a humans. They can put an amazing amout of feed in tbeir bellies during the day!
I always think that same thing, it's amazing
What Ive noticed here in Denmark, is that the big contractors swap out their choppers every two years at the most, no matter the brand.
Great job keep doing what you are doing with the videos the maintenance you are doing on your chopper is why you can cut as many fields can’t wait to see how you set up the new white truck 👍🚜
Chopping videos whether it's working on the chopper or just videos of the chopping process are still my favorites and they never get old!! 👍😎
The farm and shop work never gets old Andy. The only thing that gets old is having to do some of the same things to my own equipment. Now that gets old.
If you use it, it wears out. That is real Farming. I am glad your whole family is involved. The girls look like very good welders.
Keep doing what you do. I watch your channel to learn. I do not know everything. Thanks for the great video's !!!
Keep them coming..
These are great video's for any at mechanic or anyone interested in the field!!
Good for plain old entertainment also..
Yes I like to see all your maintenance work🇺🇸👍🙂
Another good Job Andy 🚜👍🇺🇸
Keep up the good shop repair work. Always enjoy seeing and learning.
Saw it before, however I'm here for the andyisms

This chopper must have the best FVSH, “full video service history” in the world.

Excited to see how you outfit the white truck! Thanks for sharing Andy!
Funny when you had the time lapse for installing the knives, you put the sound of the chopper gobbling up alfalfa! Nice! lol
Tell me a chopper out there that's not high Maintenance 😂😂😂😂 keep em coming Andy the hell with everyone else says different
Awesome thanks Andy for your time and consideration 🚜🚛🚜🚛🚜🚛🔧🛠️
Great footage Andy, unless other manufacturers are using kryptonite, wear parts are just that wear parts no matter what color🤣take care
I’ve got a little bit of packing on my channel when I was there.
The gear wears out but the boys are not putting hundreds of tons they putting thousands tons per year , good content team
I would say that choppers been really good to you when you fly over the bunks with your drone that's a big area to be filling in with silage I can't imagine a tonnage you put through it since you bought it

Didn’t you say that chopper has close to 4000 hrs on it too, you keep that chopper looking good and running good!!
Andy, I've seen you change those things every time you've broadcast it for 4 or 5 years. Still think it's cool. Thanks for the ride. 😊

Double 20 right now
I wonder if I’m the only one who would love to see the tractors packing the bunker while you’re cutting the next crop of hay?
You never see any other brand do maintenance on their choppers ? Great humor Andy.
They never run long enough to wear anything out!😉
31:21 Andy great video!!! Love how meticulous you are!!! I hope your herd produces high!!!! You all do a wonderful job!!!!
That chopper is running smooth Andy.
All your content is great .. keep doing what you doing .. best wishes to you ..family and crew ..
You are the best maintenance guy top notch
Hi Andy, just you keep doing it as you do because " it is what it is" and it's very enjoyable to watch.
Great video Andy. Getting er.done.
Wondering, have you ever had to change the shaft bearings on the ends of the cutter drum?
Keep up the good work!
Show everything each time you do the work
Thanks for what you do!
JIM ❤
We had the dealer put in a brand new knife drum last year
Enjoyed your video have a great day Andy
I personally like this content. I run and work on 2 7950's. I like knowing what is coming and how to work on it when we upgrade to a 8000 or 9000.
Wondering how do you insure that the dresser path/track is aligned with the cutter bar?
JIM ❤
I hope I'm wrong but if SNP continues in NY what they do in MO and IL.....be prepared to hear "we don't have in stock"
Great video Andy.
Stay safe.
Crazy to see the corn go through the cutters. Corn stocks are tough.
Don't mind at all. That's just part of the job. Florida Joe😊
Remember the days of full width spiral knives, Andy?!

Sharpening stone will correct that
It is a good thing you are mucho fluent in spanish I see there are a couple of are friends from down south commenting
Hey we enjoy all your shop work and commmentary
I like to see you guys work on all your equipment. It is all very interesting .
Keep them coming Andy
I’m a 74 year old farmer I like your videos no mater what you do
Have you seen the Krone choppers with the large nurse tank behind it. It chops into the nurse tank, and trucks fill from it very quicklyI'm justst letting you know about it.
Yeah it’s an attachment that can be put on I think all of the choppers.
Always enjoy the videos!
I love seeing you work on equipment. Just a nosey old man but wouldn’t the younger generation learn from you? Olgoat
Metric measurements again --- so easy . Care and attention to maintenance takes time but well worth it . Not cost effective to have the dealer do that type of maintenance .
It is not the money, it is the scheduling. Waiting for a dealer is time lost making haulage. It is a perishable crop. It need to be made on time.
Farm Fixing & Fabricating any idea how many acres are chopped each year for your operation?
About 9,000 a year
Great video as always. Can we get a time-lapse on bunker filling and packing sometime??
Great video Andy it’s never a disappointment watching you working on the chopper! Are we going to see a 2024 in the corn field this year??? Have a great weekend 🍺🍺🍺
It's the same thing day in and day out for all farmers Andy
I will watch you do anything from replace the element in a hot water heater to replace knives on the chopper
I was just looking at Google Map satellite view in the vicinity of Warners NY, Hoag Road, and it shows the timbers that were in place by the power line from last year. And Warners Road is closed across NYS thruway.
Some of us it is repetitive but you have many new viewers! Since I started watching ? About 75,000
I’m surprised they last as long as they do!
had former AC customer in Carlisle ny , one of the first , "maximizer" choppers towed by his AC 180 . bragged a storm about it ; just replace one little $40 knofe and i was going again!! . then one trip , a hidden rock of banch went thru . He love this one. Take torch and make it all hard. Lol
Do we have to hank Sarah for cleaning up the chopper cab and polishing the windows?

I,m an old retired Dozer operator, and if you ran a dozer over as many acres as that chopper every year you'd be replacing more than a few paddles and wear plates.

Anything you film is pretty good
I’m surprised you didn’t switch out that chopper. But guessing it’s pre DEF so you keep it going. Unlike your combine that machine is what pays the bills.
Drop a comment he says lol. In my opinion it's your show and you can record what ever you want. I will still watch.
Will you show us upon completion of the milking parlor workings? Olgoat
I think so
Well worth doing this type of maintenance as you will get full efficiente back, a lot of horse power can be lost if not done in time.
You wil run for at least another 20 years in the field. Buckle up. 😁
How many hours are on the chopper?
Does deere have recommended intervals for replacement of these parts?
Almost 4,000
