    This made me think of a friend telling me that when they were working in a home for the elderly there was a commercial or something where they threw fire balls, and this old lady was like "It's amazing what technology can do these days" to which he replied, "Yes, editing is pretty amazing these days" and she frowned at him, "I meant allowing people to throw fire from their hands!"
    During her lifetime technology had done so much mindboggling shit, that people being able to launch fireballs was really just next down the line. Editing was not wher her mind went.

      When I was a kid, small handheld transistor radios were a thing. People would play music very loud over the incredibly tiny tinny speakers.
      Nowadays those transistor radios are a thing of the past, fortunately. Now people play music very loud over incredibly tiny speakers of their phone.
      But I really groaned when some kids remarked, after watching a fragment from the original Alien (1979).
      "Whoa, look at the quality of that video! I didn't know they had FHD resolution back then"

    ABK’s acting is phenomenal. With other people playing multiple sketch characters, you usually watch the same person rattling off different lines, sometimes with different accents. But here? He’s disappearing into these characters. Love it.

    These tropes and behaviours are so accurately distilled, you should start maiking your own whiskey!!
    The last time I watched a street magic show on TV when in the States (probably David Blane or Chris Angel), the thing that always made me laugh was how the people would jump away and run in circles saying "omg, he's a witch! How is he doing that? OMG DUDE!) 😆

      Lol American here, a lot of times the people are actors and they're told to be loud, excited, etc. because it makes the show interesting. Or honestly a lot of the people could've been drunk if it was a tourist hotspot. And most of the "(insert group here), doesn't know basic geography etc" street interviews are fake too. The film crew asks a lot of people questions until they find the few that really don't know the answers and they edit it to look like everyone they asked didn't know. Or they use actors too. Watched it happen in town one time. Crew asked everyone that walked by questions. The host was getting really angry when no one got them wrong.

I was recently watching some Family Feud episodes, and everyone always gets really excited and screams "Great Answer" no matter how utterly stupid the answer is. Over here if someone gave a dumb answer the mother or grandmother would give them a smack to the back of the head and call them a pillock 😂

    Reminds me of when I was dressed as a Roman Emperor at a party and British street magician started doing his tricks whilst I got everyone drunk.       I thought he meant less "it's a waste of the 2 quid you spent to buy a throwaway deck of cards" and more "it's a waste of all the plastic-coated paper that you can now just throw away".
      In terms of materials a pack of MTG cards is much less wasteful.

    This reminds me of when I went to Universal Studios, on that Ghost House place where they have staff dressed as ghosts that jump-out-and surprise-you-but-sort of-gentle-so you don’t have a heart attack. Up ahead I heard screaming, The “ghost” jumped out and I said “hi”. They just sort of awkwardly didn’t know what to do..

    I got a friend that does a card trick where he does a series of dealings and shuffles, does a final dealing of cards arranged in a four by four grid, you slowly point to two at a time to remove until you have two left, with the final card you have stay being the one you picked. I know it's slight of hand, but I still have no idea the process behind it and he pulls it off incredibly well.

    I generally watch videos with captions on. (Sound levels change a lot in my work space, so I keep them on as default)
    I recommend you do too.

    I love your American accent. Most people imitating Americans either do a Southern drawl or a Midwestern nasal twang. I like that you did a kind of West Coast stoner voice. It fit the character well.

    This is pretty accurate. As an American, I don’t think many of us are genuinely baffled by magic tricks, but cheerfully playing along is culturally required. I literally used “someone who shouts out how the magic trick is done” as an example of an insufferably rude person in conversation the other day.

    I wonder if I'd be good audience. My inner reaction to close up magic is same as the American dude's. I love it! I don't know why people say magic is boring or something, to me it's freaking impressive 👏
    But I'm slightly on the spectrum so my expressions are pretty emotionless and I've been called a robot countless times (which is funny to me because if I were a robot, I should be able to count every single time someone's called me a robot).
    So I'd love and appreciate the magic act, but you couldn't tell... Yeah I'd be bad audience. I'll go practice smiling in case I ever get to see a magician in action!
