  • The most popular curtains on the market have grommets. (😤) I am not a fan of grommets and if you are like me, you want a more traditional appearance. In this video I will share how I transformed curtains with grommets into tabbed back curtains. This DIY curtain redo is an easy tutorial for anyone to complete.

    Wow.. I am so impressed. You did an excellent job... I would have never thought about cutting the tabs and flipping the curtains. Thumbs up..

    I don’t like grommets either! I found beautiful curtains that I love. I ordered them longer hoping to cut off the grommets and do something different with it. This is genius! Totally doing this! Thank you!

    You didn't actually show the finished product. Where's the shot of the full curtain with the gray fabric added?

    I don't know why it didn't strike me to use the padded fabric between the grommets for the tabs, duh. Thanks for the idea. These work much better than plain unpadded fabric from the excess fabric.

    You could've achieved a very similar look just by using the cardboard tubes that hold toilet paper. All you have to do is just place them on the rod between grommets. I don't like grommets either but this hack disguises them.

    Used to like grommet curtains but now I hate them! Do you have any advice on how to turn grommet curtains into back tab curtains by 1. A no sew method AND 2. Without taking any length off the curtains?
    I know, I’m asking for the impossible haha! BUT your video has me wondering if there’s a way to fold over the grommet and pin/clip the curtains in such a way that the grommets are inside the fold (unseen on the side facing the room because of the folding and unseen to the side facing outside because the rod is always higher than the window therefore the “ugly side” will face the wall)? Thanks for your inspiration!

    • @WeekendswithWinnie
      @WeekendswithWinnie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes and no 😬 Yes, a no sew method for adding tabs would be to create the tabs with scrap fabric and use the hem tape in this video th-cam.com/video/T7hlVYnbrbc/w-d-xo.html. You can fold the portion of the curtain with grommets and pin it down, but you’ll loose the length 😩. I’ll keep thinking and reply with any new solutions

      You don’t have to sew!!!! There are no sew alternatives to getting rid of grommets. Check out how easy it is to use fabric tape in this video No Sew Pillow Covers #nosew #nosewpillow

    Would cutting the grommets section off shorten the length of the curtains?

    • @WeekendswithWinnie
      @WeekendswithWinnie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! I suggest purchasing the next length up or adding fabric to ensure you have the desired length. I’ve done both and the curtains look amazing!

    • @WeekendswithWinnie
      @WeekendswithWinnie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no, the holes would still be there. Plastic grommets will pop apart & metal grommets are not worth the trouble to remove.
