    Winter camping was always fun and it's becoming even funner with all new "toys" that they're coming-out with.

      We are now actually looking to go snow camping, if only there was snow around.
      All the best,

    Great winter camping adventure. The heater sounds like it worked perfect. 1st success of 2025 and much more to follow. Kudos to you both. Thanks for sharing the adventure. 💯

    FYI The muffler on the deisel heater has a hole on the seam to release condensation , so is meant to be facing down =)

    Another great video guys, glad to hear that you got a diesel heater. It would be great to see a review on your diesel heater, how much diesel does it burn and how much power does it draw. Are there any concerns about the diesel exhaust? I sure do love the endless beauty of our Island and you do a great job of capturing it. Have you thought about using a charcoal brickette chimney (used to start a bbq) to get a fire started, it works like a rocket stove and once started you can dump the hot contence into your fire pit and build a fire around it. Just a thought.

      Thank You! We have not thought about doing a review on the Diesel Heater, but will most likely give some updates throughout the next few weeks on how it is performing.
      We're not really worried about the exhaust, as it is facing away from the tent.
      Good idea with the briquette, we my just give that a try as well.
      All the best,
      Michelle and Holger 🙏

    Pretty soon you're going to be setup so that you can sell your home and live out of your Jeep😁
    Love the river and waterfall!

      Haha, wouldn't that be something😊! Need a bigger vehicle for that for sure.
      We are certainly prepared for any emergency situations that will hopefully not happen.
      All the best,
      Michelle and Holger 🙏

    I love those fire starters. They may pretty long-lasting air fresheners too! 😊 I liked your gathering firewood moment as well. 😅 A very interesting video, with the diesel heater and other gear. Beautiful shots of the waterfall. Enjoyed this one.

      Thank You, Daryl! They work like a charm, and yes, they do smell like air fresheners😂!
      The Diesel Heater was a great investment for sure, and changes the way we'll be camping throughout the winter.
      All the best,
      Michelle and Holger 🙏

    So Glad the Diesel Heater Worked 😁
    Have to say Holger looked a little worried at first that heater would work LOL
    Cool spot camping by water always makes it colder but so much more enjoyable to sleep to the sounds

    100% more successful than usual. So that's a win. I was excited to come up this week, but the Port Angeles ferry dock is under construction. Thanks for the video. That was a wonderful spot to camp.

      February 20. I think we’ll plan an end of February trip. Stamp River is on the list. Cheers!!

    Happy New Year!
    The year is just flying by, it’s the 12th of January already!
    Looks like you’re still Stamping around the campsite, over the Winter!
    The sound of that river would pretty much put me to sleep,
    as soon as my head hit the pillow!
    I’ve heard that the diesel heaters are good, we have friends that use them.
    In our little trailer, we’ve been plugging a 12v electric blanket into our Bluetti,
    & it keeps us toasty, & warms the trailer up too!
    Play carefully!

      The sound of moving water is so relaxing. It is really one of the reasons that we always look for campsites by the water.
      It was nice to be at Stamp River, it's close to home and we were the only ones there.
      The Diesel Heater is certainly game changer for us moving forward throughout the winter months.
      All the best,
      Michelle and Holger 🙏

    Have you done a video about your diesel heater? I must check into that one.

    • @backroadjournals
      @backroadjournals  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No we have not, and probably won't be doing a dedicated video on it. However, we are planning on giving some updates on the performance of the Diesel Heater over the next few months.
      All the best,
      Michelle and Holger 🙏
      P.S.: Here is a link to the heater we got:

    Those fire starters work better if you rough them up a little. Once I break off a square I squish it along the thin side to open it up and expose more fibres.
    My wife has been teasing me with her wanting to head out for a winter camp soon. I am a lucky guy. I am surprised the EB55 ran the diesel heater. I may have to look into the one you have. Mine heater (5kw) works "sometimes" although I do have a workaround by using a 300W inverter plugged into the AC outlet. It was about 50 or 60 bucks. I am also thinking that a 2kw would be better than the 5. It can get too hot!

    • @backroadjournals
      @backroadjournals  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We were actually surprised as well that it ran with the EB55. Glad it did.

    How do you avoid carbon monoxide in the tent with your heater?

    • @marceld6061
      @marceld6061 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Don't have the exhaust pipe inside or pointing toward an open window.

    • @backroadjournals
      @backroadjournals  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The heater is sitting outside the tent and the exhaust is facing away from the tent.
      There is also always some airflow in the tent.
      All the best,
      Michelle and Holger 🙏
