I went there in the summer of 2014 on a people to people trip, I literally left the tour so I could listen to “concerning hobbits” while just walking through what I considered to be my childhood. I laughed and cried, even sat at the same table as the fellowship at the end of the return of the king. Haven’t been truly happy since then

So amazing, I tear up every time I hear the song, it has been 18 years since the movie was made, it's crazy, I wish I could be there.
Its mesmerizing ! I am blessed to have been there with my family..This place is serene and holds a beautiful corner in my heart ❤️

It is really beautiful but I personally still think that no one should go to bhutan ( because of gross national happiness) and no. 2 newzealand and no.3 Switzerland
I am saving to go visit this place its truly magical dont know when everything cost money so it may be a while but im not giving up hopefully it will still be there years to come.

I fell in love with it when I saw it in the movie, especially that I watched it at Dolby Labs in their theater and the picture and sound were amazing,

Am I the only one thinking about logistics of building whole hamlet of hobbit cottages in lore friendly manner? Anyone who builds hobbit hole builds cubicles huts smaller than Bilbo's entryway (even this village is skin deep, behind those doors its only enough space for actors to stand), and by the lore those ranged from multi-generational peasant houses to bourgeois mansions with dozens of bedrooms, and everything was connected by a network of clan based tunnels so that you can get lost in your house and reach your cousins on the other end village. Imagine building such a village as a housing estate project, hiding reinforced concrete and modern insulation between a layer of 18th and 19th century rural craftsmanship and a few meters of soil to meet the building code requirements, it's like a wonderfully nice puzzle for an engineer, but only hippies have enough courage unfortunately in contrast to lack skills or funds.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat. It was a hobbit hole, and that means comfort.
