I've been waiting for this video for the past 10 months. The first two months after the 2017 was released I watched it a good 4 or 5 times then went back and watched all the years before. Friggen love the wave of winter docs. The surfing is sick...the commentary is sick...BUT THE MUSIC IS ALWAYS DAYM GOOD
conspiracies are just great stories yeah there pretty good, like I’m the old days the surf mags would come out with a Hawaii issue and maybe a DVD 📀 but now this all you get.
Krackatoa "Noahs Stark" is the tune for the closing credits. Love love love it. I love the freedom of the wave the brilliance of the sun and the pure exhilaration of the surfers themselves.
Mark Anthony here from Wisconsin ... I lived and surfed in southern California from'87 till '92, a few trips ta Puerto Escondido where winter waves can go off! But these videos/ docs bring me back to a time when my spirit was free. I'm now a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair but aspire to take my 18 yr old son to Sheboygan WI. just north of where I live, where a long history and connection to southern California exists!
Team Nate! ! ! The whole world is Nathan's team. Cuz of the Slab tour, Nate is loved by all nations. But his home break, finally gave him that wave . Good on ya Nate . P.j. Carp. Calif.
Good tunes, great surf, congrats to Nathan on a epic ride! A huge salute to the people responsible for Not choosing rap music to be included in this video.
I have watched this a dozen times, just to catch Nathan's reaction when he noticed the guys coming up behind him in the lens. And when they doused him with champagne, he was so pumped, he didn't even notice it. Thanks for posting this video, and making my day:)
Wow, now this was a masterpiece! I live in Europe, nowhere near to wavey beaches. After this movie, my goal in life is to get a ride through a good pipeline🤞🏼♥️
Only humans would see this giant wave that could crush you and think, hmmm maybe I should try to glide under it on a flimsy board attached to my ankle. It is incredible!!!
Whats the name of the very last song / credit's song? Haven't been able to find it. The movie is just amazing... That slowmo wave from Koa Smith at the end is mesmerizing
It not surfing anymore, the lineups looks like a subway station at rush hour for the last train out of town. Just getting to the the take off should win you an award.
@@HoStevie What's going on with you. You just totally contradicted yourself from your other statement giving an ok go for it hand sign to that kook from Europe. Your a super chill dude, are you just super high today? Still love ya brother
the sad this is, the more money they offer the more people it will draw to pipe and there are already more then enough. Sadly it would ruin the whole experience even more. I am all for shared spots and waves and I dont like these ego-surfers but at a certain degree its just starts to ruin it
Nathan's wave provided a longer barrel but Keito's (?) has a more critical and steeper drop. On the backhand, bouncing down into a massive wave like that but preserving the perfect amoung of speed... I think his was actually better. Nathan's wave provided a long barrel but the takeoff looked easier, he was on a bigger board, he was out of balance when he reached the bottom and it was just the fact that the wave moved at the absolute perfect pace that he made it out. Amazing wave obviously for both guys just saying one of them got me super charged up
conspiracies are just great stories Ross is John John’s coach. He felt it might be perceived as a conflict of interest being connected to JJF so he stepped down. Stoked to have Dorian on board as a replacement judge.
John John is smooth as can be. I know a rider who rides short boards big steep waves more than likely Is a skateboarder to boot . Leaders not Followers. INSCO SFCA
I knlw a wave very similar to pipe .. srf ther ebery season but no one is ever gnna get there without someone telling them where it is.nd very few knowand dnt speak
You see all those surfers in the lineup? Crowds crowds crowds. I long for the 1980s in Lunada Bay. When the surf was pumping there, we were among about a dozen guys who kept out the riff-raff from Torrance, Redondo, Manhattan. It was not a violent scene most of the time. It was mostly tranquil because it was kept to the locals, as it should be. You see all the good spots nowadays run roughshod by interloper kooks. We did not stand for that back in the day, and you can say what you want, but it was a lot better (for us).
Same for us down here at Newbreak "Newbs" Sunset Cliffs. Although I've surfed up there always cordless and on my Lis, never had a problem. Same with some of you coming down here. We could clearly see you knew what you were doing, so no beefs.
Waves awesome but the prize money gotta be raised!! Risking your life for 25000 dollars? Nah, make it like 500 000 S the big surf companies are raking in the cash!!
Surfing has become a a sport for the well to do with money for equipment, airfare, housing and transportation. It is no longer a sport for the rebels as it has become an establisment and mainstream unto itself because of commercialization and hype. But what's new, it's progress sad to say.

I remember exactly when Briley started surfing Pipe as a kid and how he grew and grew to be a legend. Nicest dude ever.
I have watched this a dozen times, just to catch Nathan's reaction when he noticed the guys coming up behind him in the lens. And when they doused him with champagne, he was so pumped, he didn't even notice it. Thanks for posting this video, and making my day:)
one of the best surf videos I’ve seen to date! wow!
What an incredible wave by Nathan and as perfect video you could get by Chris. 👍 😀🌊🏄
RIP Ricardo winner back in 2012, riding that massive pipe screamer.. gone but never forgotten!!
Gone too soon. And such a wonderful person.
There were some very high quality in water shots of Pipeline that should also get an award. For example here is one:
22:24

Stay away. Interloper kooks are not welcome.
What a friendly guy. Go surf whatever you want.
Maybe start with a Waikiki?
New to surfing, cannot believe what's going on here with the skill and courage, massive fan!
Congrats Nathan!
The money is sweet, but having that group of water men affirm your style and skill is better 🤙
Only humans would see this giant wave that could crush you and think, hmmm maybe I should try to glide under it on a flimsy board attached to my ankle. It is incredible!!!
Pipe is definitely a bucket list dream for this goofy footer.......😂

The music was great.
Whats the name of the very last song / credit's song? Haven't been able to find it. The movie is just amazing... That slowmo wave from Koa Smith at the end is mesmerizing

the sad this is, the more money they offer the more people it will draw to pipe and there are already more then enough. Sadly it would ruin the whole experience even more. I am all for shared spots and waves and I dont like these ego-surfers but at a certain degree its just starts to ruin it
You just DID!
share the prize with the top 25. too hard to judge these mostly perfect rides

Why did Shane replace Ross? Any particular reason?
conspiracies are just great stories Ross is John John’s coach. He felt it might be perceived as a conflict of interest being connected to JJF so he stepped down. Stoked to have Dorian on board as a replacement judge.
Because Ross started coaching John john that's why.
9:32 my vote went to Jimmy Slades ..... again.

Waves*
Waves awesome but the prize money gotta be raised!! Risking your life for 25000 dollars? Nah, make it like 500 000 S the big surf companies are raking in the cash!!
Looks like the biggest challenge is to avoid hitting people on the wave.
yewwwwwww
Hang Ten
A bit less Brett barley and would of been perfect
je sors d un entretien avec nadine Hecquet et mon generaliste alors mon pc et ma voiture ont été touche mais bon j ai beaucoup de dossier
Tu es tellement gay

You’re so gay
I liked Jamie's wave better....spit him and then went even longer.....
Baby waves compared to mavericks
